On Friday 12th June Four Oaks Nursing Home, part of the Kingsley Healthcare Group, pulled out all the stops, despite torrential rain, to support the Manchester leg of The Great British Care Cycle Relay Race.
The Great British Care Cycle Relay, organised by Championing Social Care, is a monumental cycling event that aims to raise awareness of social care in the United Kingdom and to help officially launch Care Home Open Week which this year runs from 15th to 21st June.
The residents and team at Four Oaks Nursing Home in Partington were proud to be involved in the event, which saw the 12 cyclists and support group call into the home for a well-earned ‘pit-stop’ enabling them to refuel with hot drinks, snacks, fruit and sports drinks before heading off on the next stage of their gruelling 96km journey.
The home was delighted to welcome Andrew Western, MP for Stretford and Urmston, who called into the home to say a few words of encouragement for the cyclists, talk about the important role care homes like Four Oaks provide in championing social care before cheering them as they set off on their next leg.
The home was honoured to receive a trophy, presented by Andrew Western MP, as a ‘Thank You’ from the organiser for providing a vital ‘pit stop’ for the cyclists.
Stacey Butler, Manager at Four Oaks Nursing Home said “We are delighted and proud to have supported The Great British Care Cycle Relay Race,.” She continued “It was lovely to see the residents chatting to the cyclists before they cheered them on their off, the weather certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits!”
Care Home Open Week is designed to welcome local communities, families, and prospective residents into care homes. It provides a transparent look at daily life, activities, and the level of care provided in modern care settings.
Four Oaks are also holding another Open Day on Tuesday 30th June for anyone who would like to call in and see what the home has to offer.
