Residents at Bupa Hutton Village Care Home have donated over £240 to Dogs Trust, channelling their love of animals into supporting a meaningful cause. The funds were raised during a fun-filled, dog-themed Fun Day last month, with residents and their families later visiting the charity's Basildon rehoming centre to hand over the donation in person.

The Fun Day brought together residents, families and local neighbours for a day of activities and entertainment. The event featured games, stalls, a raffle, a bouncy castle and live music, with all proceeds supporting Dogs Trust's vital work caring for and rehoming dogs in need.

The event was a huge success with residents, with many enjoying the live music in the garden and the opportunity to meet with the wider community.

Resident, Viv, who took part in the day said: “It was such a lovely day and wonderful to raise money for dogs in need. I’ve always loved animals, so it means a lot to be able to give something back.” Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity helping to rescue and rehome dogs across the country. The charity was delighted by the donation and presented residents with a certificate in recognition of their efforts, now proudly displayed at the care home.

Angie Lillywhite, Activities Co-ordinator at Hutton Village, who helped organise the day, added: “The event was a huge success, and it was wonderful to see the residents enjoying themselves, whilst also raising money for an important cause. Our residents really care about animals, so it was a pleasure to support a cause so close to their hearts.”
