My Mum was admitted to MH in Feb and I visited from Australia in Feb and experienced her being in MH for just under 1 week, as she was in hospital the other 2 weeks.
I think overall the care was really good. There have been some exceptions:
1. Slow response to some requests for help. I understand
this can happen though.
2. One carer Mum said was rough and caused bruising. I could establish the name of this person but said she had not been seen since the incident by that person. Otherwise really happy. Cake and card on birthday was a nice touch. I feel she is in good hands.

We needed urgent respite care for my father.
We were aware he had issues with his short term memory- but were not aware of the extent of his condition.
Moorland House responded very quickly to my enquiries and we were fortunate that they had a room free.
Carly and Shelley came to our house to
meet dad. They were very professional, understanding and reassuring.
Without exception, all the staff at Moorland House were professional, welcoming and so kind with dad and myself.
They were undergoing a major redecoration- so there was an organised chaos- but the place felt warm, welcoming and very homely.
Dad struggled with settling in- but he was looked after with kindness, patience, respect and understanding of his condition.
We were allowed to visit any time and our dog was welcomed in too.
There is always something going. Attention to the needs of residents is excellent.
What could have been a very traumatic experience has been made so much easier because of the care from Moorland House.

When I moved my cousin to Moorland House over 2 years ago her first comment opening the door was "it's lovely and warm". She'd been very attached to her house for 50 years but couldn't cope even with 3 carer visits a day.
It is most important now that she regards Moorland House as her true home.
The rooms are excellent including high ceilings. The home is in a beautiful area and she is fortunate to have a fine view. There is a spacious garden too.
She needed a high level of care initially but as she adjusted and her health improved she has moved through medium to a low assessment which has helped with the fees. She'd become very confused running her own home and her mental health has improved in Moorland House. She feels very well looked after and is happy and articulate.
The home is well organised and the care staff (day and night) very responsive. Recent redecoration and improvements show management really listen to the residents and help to maintain overall quality.
23 April 2026
My mum's room is very nice, however I do feel the home has a number of maintenance issues which need addressing i.e. the heating. My mum is cold in the mornings and has a portable heater to rectify this however she cannot see to put this on and is reliant on staff to do this for her. The majority of
staff are brilliant. However, I do think communication and processes could be improved such as ordering medication and passing on messages and actioning these. There are long waits for medication which you could buy over the counter, I don't know why this happens. The food has improved since this was discussed at the relative's meeting however the quality isn't consistent. This review may seem negative however the home is warm and welcoming and the staff are lovely. Sometimes it's the small things that make a big difference.
22 April 2026
Mum is in a safe environment. We know that she is being looked after and cared for. We don't have to worry about her having a fall at home. There are many activities for her to get involved in. The home is in a lovely setting too
17 April 2026
Mum has been resident in Moorland House now for over four years. She has been looked after really well by the management and staff, who treat her with a lot of dignity in a friendly, caring atmosphere. It's reassuring to know that Mum is checked on and has her needs met day and night. She is very
content and feels really at home, especially in her room which is clean and bright with a great view. For visiting relatives and residents alike, it's like an extended family. We all enjoy the extra efforts the staff make at different times of the year to offer outdoor and indoor special events. Staff are also attentive to requests or comments that are made by relatives. Many thanks.

Mum has been a long term resident (10 years) at Moorland house. Following some years of poor management and declining standards at the home the situation is now rapidly changing under the refreshing efforts of an excellent new manager (and team). I'm sure there are still improvements to be made
but already the change is dramatic and the home feels like a supporting caring environment again where the physical standards of the home and the staff engagement are now returning to the high standards that the residents deserve. Moorland House feels like a good place for mum to live and we have confidence that her physical, mental and spiritual needs are being very well looked after. We are greatly relieved to see the renewed energy and focus in the house from the management team and have great confidence that over the next few years Moorland House will be an excellent care home.

We were faced with having to find a Care Home for mother at pretty short notice and relying on reading reviews and recommendations from relations of relations who had been Resident at Moorlands, we arranged a visit. The visit was extremely informative and the pleasant atmosphere in the Home soon
became apparent. Mother has settled very well, there were a few minor teething problems, but all our queries etc were soon dealt with promptly and professionally. My mother choses not to participate in activities, which is a crying shame because they all look engaging and fun. One minor point is a slight niggle - my mother has extremely arthritic hands and struggles with cutting the healthy and generous portions of meat!! That aside, myself and my siblings are so pleased mother is in the capable hands of all the team at Moorlands.

Mum has lived at Moorland house for 3 years. The staff are very caring and have adapted to her changing needs well. She was initially mobile with help of 1 but in last 6 months has become less mobile and now needs a soft diet. The staff show kindness and empathy and she trusts the staff and has
formed a close relationship with them. They involve her in activities on a daily basis and she is content.

Our family were all super impressed with the high level of care my Mum got in Moorland House. All the staff were efficient, respectful and caring but they also managed to be professional in a down to earth way. We we especially grateful for the way that end of life care was handled and were very
pleased that my Mum was in Moorland House rather than other care homes. A big thank you to all the staff involved:-)

Overall standard was acceptable
Listed below where I feel improvements could and should be implemented:-
Leak in Mothers Bathroom on arrival Surely a Pre Occupancy " Check List" would be useful to avert such issues and it took days to rectify said leak from the WC- created a H&S issue as large
floor areas had standing water
Biggest surprise on leaving ""NO EXIT DOCS" as a result Mother didn't get her Petty Cash returned and she left with her panic alarm under her clothing, necessitating a special trip to sort / return
Some of the food Mother struggled to cut up (she won't raise a hand and ask for help) so carers for me should be more vigilant during mealtimes and note and action those struggling
Mother much enjoyed the " Activities" and Tuesdays time with the Chaplain and her Service
Very surprised that as I assume strong link MHA to the local Methodist church that plans to get residents on Sundays there wasn't
far better organised (no transport, not enough carers to attend)

Our mum began to need more care than her assisted living flat could provide. Having looked at several and asked around, we were lucky to get a room for Mum at Moorland House. The decision to move a parent into a residential care home is not an easy one, but we were unable to cope with her increasing
needs. Mum has been there now for 6 months and we are pleased with her care. The home is responsive, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and there is a programme of activities which is good. Her room is spotlessly clean and she has a hairdressing appt each week. Her nails were even painted recently. The building may not look the smartest from the outside but don't let that deter you. There is a warm welcome inside and the friendly carers have the patience of saints.
15 May 2024
My mother required more care as she became frailer and we wanted to choose a care home with good recommendations and within easy reach of the family. Moorland House met both requirements. Whilst the decor may be dated and in need of some TLC, the important aspects of care support, food and staff
are excellent.
09 April 2024
Truly a wonderful care home. Level of care is very high, food is wonderful and there are daily varied activities. I feel nothing is too much trouble for the staff and minor issues are handled quickly. The staff appear happy and caring (even if run off their feet) - lots of smiley faces. The
Moorlands social media page is a great way of keeping up with events, so lovely to see Mum engaging in activities. My mum is thriving here. Thanks to the gentle and kind way Mum is spoken to at Moorlands she now speaks to me more positively than in the past. Highly recommended.

Mum has lived at Moorland House for just over two years and settled in really quickly thanks to the friendliness and patience of the staff. The thing that is so nice about Moorland House is other residents' families also say hello and have a chat with her as I do with them when I visit. The staff
are helpful, friendly and polite and I know there is always someone I can talk to if there is a problem. Not everything is perfect, but Mum is happy and because I can call in any time of the day, it gives me great comfort to know that if I can't be there she is well looked after. The activities are frequent and well-organised and the staff get really involved especially with sing a longs and musical events. Christmas was amazing, the home was beautifully decorated and there was practically something happening right through December. They also encourage groups and residents from the village to visit the home, to talk and do activities with the residents which is lovely to see.
29 January 2024
Christmas can be a lonely time but the staff at Moorland House do all they can to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time. There are many activities and outside groups visiting ie choirs, school children and theatre company. Although this is just once a year the other 11 months are just as good! I
believe a home is only as good as its staff and at Moorland House they are excellent.

We spent a long time looking for a suitable home for my mum and visited many different places that looked great online but were disappointed in reality. As soon as we set foot in Moorland House, it felt different. The staff were naturally relaxed and friendly which was reflected in how content
residents were. The home has lots of big windows with beautiful views of the gardens and hills so it feels light. There are lovely craft activities organised and visits from musicians and entertainers that bring residents together and most importantly, there are conversations and companionship. Mum has lived at Moorland House for just over a year now and she loves it - she feels safe and happy - and we in turn feel reassured that we definitely made the right decision for her.

The staff are responsive to the needs of my dad and manage these needs well between them. The home has a very caring ethos and this is led by an excellent manager. My dad is not an easy man to care for and the staff have been able to manage him with a high degree of compassion and dignity in the
latter stages of his life. As a son, I have been always welcomed and I have been very impressed by the care given.

Mum has been living and thriving in the super environment of Moorland House Care Home for the last five years. She's been really welcome and cared for ever since she moved in, even calling it 'my home' after only the first couple of weeks. It was a huge relief to the whole family to have Mum so
happy and engaged after feeling isolated in her old home. A huge thank you to all the staff...or 'the extended family' as Mum calls them.
10 May 2023
Moorland House is a warm, friendly and caring environment. The staff all know my mother by name and she seems happy and well looked after. The home manager runs a 'tight ship' in my view and does a great job in light of tight resources and the legacy of covid. I know my mother would appreciate more
home cooking of cakes and I think her room could do with a quarterly 'deep clean' but overall I'm very happy with Moorland House.
