I have a beautiful room with a lovely view in this unique home. The care is generally satisfactory, but the management definitely needs improvement.

Mum said it is excellent and everyone is very helpful and friendly, but not so keen on some of the food. The main course at lunch time is rarely liked.

Not good in places - cold meals - no hot water at night, having to wait long periods (e.g. 20 mins +) when I press my emergency/alarm button.
Positive aspects include attentive care from several nurses.

I have been very impressed with the home considering the age of the property. I consider the staff are doing a tremendous job.

My aunt was a resident for 17 years and received excellent care throughout her stay. She regarded Watermoor House as home and always said she was very happy there. The staff always had time for my aunt. During her final days, the staff went above and beyond to look after her and even arranged a trip
to the seaside which she wanted. The staff are a real credit to the home and are caring and couldn't have done more for my lovely aunt.

The communication between staff (change over) could be a lot better - if someone changes anything put in place half the staff are not told about the changes. Still have not met the manager. Why not put a board up in reception with photos and names so that relatives know who is who.

Mum initially came for respite care but felt so secure here she stayed. She has been here for 15 months and is very happy. The staff are very good and there is always so much going on. Craft group, the lady with her (physio) games, coffee mornings out. Lunch trips and lovely day trips. It is an
amazing place.

The staff are so good, the care they give is absolutely brilliant.

Mum is very happy here. The staff are friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Mum enjoys the activities and is looking forward to more trips out.

I continue to be amazed at the kindness, warmth, all round fondness and the always going the extra mile of staff.

We visit our friend (a former neighbour) occasionally. He rarely leaves his room. This week we found he had moved while his former room was re-decorated. We were happy to see him settled in a much bigger room with a lovely big window, new furniture, and access to his large keyboard. We hesitated to
mention our thoughts to the staff because we are not family but wanted to say how much better it seemed for him and we were sure he wanted to stay. Two management staff were welcoming and shared other ideas to improve residents' experiences. We were impressed by their enthusiasm and openness.

All the carers at Watermoor are great with my sister. Any issues I have usually relate to them being short-staffed - e.g. not answering her call bell as quickly as should be, she often goes a week without a shower or hair wash. She recently had a hospital appointment which she was unable to attend
as no one had read the letter, and then she could not eat prior.

My mother has been a resident at Watermoor House for over 5 years and she is very happy and settled there. She enjoys many of the lovely activities on offer, including the recent garden fête and the regular choir. She especially enjoys walking around the beautiful gardens. The staff are all so kind
and welcoming to all the residents. The food is good and plentiful. Thank you, everyone at Watermoor, for doing such a fantastic job.

Watermoor House is a very welcoming, homely place with lovely gardens. Mum feels this is her home and is very engaged within it. There are staff shortages which impact activities and staff being overworked. Mum feels that she is not kept informed enough as to what is happening on a daily basis. She
says it would be good to have a resident meeting regularly to be able to find out information.

My mum initially went into Watermoor House for respite care but after six weeks decided to stay. Once she became a resident, I was able to become an essential carer which meant I could visit, even during lockdowns which was much appreciated. The staff are kind and caring and they have encouraged my
mum to remain mobile. You always get a warm welcome and the home is comfortable and has a homely feel. There is always plenty of food, although not always to my mum's liking. My mum has settled in well, is happy, safe and well cared for and enjoys the activities, especially the games and glass of sherry on a Tuesday evening!

I have only been here since January (after only coming in for two weeks, I was so happy to stay). The staff are very caring and friendly and make me feel at home.

Very caring staff. Always willing to assist and answer questions. Lovely gardens that are beautifully kept and a delight to walk around. Comfortable good sized rooms which are kept clean. Interesting activities. Varied meals which are tasty and plentiful. A happy atmosphere where my husband feels
safe and looked after.

The experience was one which was very poor. From the outset, my friend who had arrived for a week of respite received very little care. I found the staff were defensive and actually did not provide accurate details about the home prior to my friend staying.
It was impossible to see the rooms
available, and we were told there were only two available at the time, both on the top floor.
My friend, in the end, cut short the respite and spent four days there. As a frail and vulnerable person, I think that homes should be able to show rooms, and be transparent about what they can and cannot supply. Most of all, kindness and compassion. Care that has been discussed in a plan, which is carried out, is also important if the person staying in a home is aware that they have the right to have the care they need, but this was not apparent. A bowl of water for my friend to wash herself given by the night staff, before they went off duty by 7 am in the morning is not client-led care.

Watermoor is lovely old house set in well looked after grounds within walking distance of Cirencester town which is great for mobile residents. Some rooms have lovely views over the gardens too where, in fine weather some outdoor activities take place.
04 December 2020
I am very happy with Watermoor House. The carers are devoted to caring for you and we have lots of laughs. It is a very happy home. It is a lot of money per month and I wish it was less but I do realise there are a lot of overheads to deal with. I would recommend it to other people.
