My mum has (since becoming a resident approx 4 years ago)and does receive excellent care from all the staff at Hazelhurst.
She is happy and content at the home and describes everyone who work there as very good and that they take care of her extremely well.
She has high praise for the excellent
meals they provide and if she isn't feeling particularly hungry on a certain day they will make her an omelette or jacket potatoe with cheese which she will sometimes ask for instead. This shows me as a family member that they will go out of their way to ensure she is catered for and provided with an appropriate meal to suit her needs at particular times.
The cleaners do an excellent job in keeping mum's room clean and the entire home is kept clean and well maintained - I particularly like the way they set out the tables for meal times, they are laid out beautifully.
As her daughter I am happy with all the care and support mum receives from the home and would not hesitate in recommending it

My mother, who has dementia, has been resident at Hazelhurst for nearly 2 years. It is a testiment to every single member of staff that, despite the fact we are moving some distance away, she will be staying at Hazelhurst. Hazelhurst has become a second, cherished home for her, her daily and weekly
routines ensure she has a secure and safe environment she is familiar with, but also multiple opportunities to take part in activities in and outside the home. Hazelhurst has provided a new, extended family. The food is fantastic, we spent Christmas Day there and enjoyed a fabulous meal! Communication is excellent, we are kept abreast of any issues medically/mentally and offered the opportunity to take part in house, dementia awareness meetings and various seasonal activities. The care staff are warm, friendly, polite, respectful, skilled and professional. Angela has also particulalry benefitted from the presence of beautiful gardens, gardeners and their dogs! A truly exceptional Care Home.

Hazelhurst is a wonderful home with wonderful staff who have taken such good care of my grandma. Staff always take time and care and focus on individual needs. One very grateful family here, amongst many more I'm sure.

Our family couldn't be happier with the care my grandma has received over the past year. The home is always clean and tidy, which gave us peace of mind from day one. What has surprised us most is the food. Grandma has always been a very picky eater, but she absolutely loves the meals here! She also
really looks forward to the outings, being taken out to enjoy the local scenery has made a huge difference in her happiness. It's wonderful to see her so content and well cared for.

My Mum was admitted to Hazelhurst a year or so ago, by the NHS, for end of life care. She was literally wasting away and had lost the will to even eat. Very sad.
Truly could have just slept away at any time.
From day one Hazelhurst did everything they could to make her as comfortable and
dignified as possible. They tried everything they could to nourish her and help her to start eating again. Her mental health was very poor when she arrived too.
But the genuine care and great nursing skill at Hazelhurst, gradually brought her back to us. They literally saved her life!
She is now very happy there, eating full normal delicious meals and enjoying quality social time with other residents and has even been able to restart attending Church most weeks in Ross-on-Wye.
Visitors are also made genuinely welcome, even at meal times. I've had a number of delicious meals there with my Mum, totally free of charge.
This home is exceptional! And the house, gardens and location are beautiful.

Mum has been at Hazelhurst now 6 months. What a lovely place to call home! The staff are so caring and friendly, always have time for you. The food is delicious and plentiful (mum loves the cakes!). Mums mobility is suffering now but with the help of Vish (the Physio ) she is up and about, doing a
bit each day. The accommodation is comfy and homely, with mums photos around makes her feel more secure. If I am worried about anything to do with mum, whether it be medical or emotional there is always someone to support me as well as mum. We looked at a couple of places before mum went to Hazelhurst, so glad we chose the right one. Thank you to all the staff for caring so much.

Hazelhurst is a wonderful place! My grandmother moved to hazelhurst for what we thought would be palliative care, with the dedicated assistance from all of the wonderful staff she is now thriving 14 months later.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they provided a wonderful birthday tea
party for all of our family on my grandmother's birthday. The spread was absolutely amazing.
Every time we visit, the home is beautifully decorated, clean and everyone is extremely welcoming.

Hazelhurst is an outstanding nursing home, it provides a beautiful safe place located in well maintained grounds for my relative, a lovely, comfortable very caring environment, with delicious plentiful food and drink, welcoming hospitality to friends and families of residents, varied entertainment
and great outings, without exception all of the staff are caring, welcoming, encouraging, supportive and communicate with the residents with dignity enabling residents and visitors alike to feel part of the Hazelhurst family. I do not feel my relative could be in better care and I am truly grateful my relative is so well cared for and that I am always kept well informed.

I am one of 3 sons to our mother who, with our father, has resided at Hazelhurst since December 2024 , both having been Diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Sadly our father died in August 2025 after a short illness; the end of life care at Hazelhurst was exceptional. Our Mother remains there
and is very happy. We chose Hazelhurst after experiencing their care services when my Mother in law spent over 3 years there from 2018 and during the difficult covid period. The care they have all experienced has been excellent, and we often remark how grateful we are knowing that our difficult decision has worked out so well. On no occasion have we had to question the quality of care our parents experience. The overriding pleasure we get is seeing how all the staff show such empathy and kindness along with genuine fondness for our loved ones which is so comforting. The cleanliness and quality of food is always high and we highly recommend Hazelhurst and its wonderfully kept gardens.

The Hazelhurst team are wonderful! My mother has been there since October 2024. She was sent there for end-of-life care but the care team had other ideas. They saved her life, rehabilitated her and helped her re-find the will to live.
I visited today while she was lunching in the dining room, after
which I waved her off on a little outing with other residents in the minivan. She has made friends and feels at home at Hazelhurst. Quite an achievement, thanks to the wonderful team!
I didn't believe Mum would ever accept living in a care home but she's doing REALLY well. She loves the food, the ambiance, the beautiful gardens and the views. She has settled and enjoys the person-based wellness. She enjoys the various activities organised and facilitated according to the individual's needs.
As a person who has worked in retirement homes, I am qualified to say that Hazelhurst is the best!

What an extraordinary home with an extraordinary staff! I originally found Hazelhurst while in the USA visiting a dear friend who wanted to return to England for Hospice. He didn't have any family who could accommodate him yet they all very much wanted to see him and spend time with him.
Honestly?
Hazelhurst could not have been a better place for him and all of us to spend his last days! The staff (including the doctor) were universally warm and loving, the room was spacious and comfortable, the grounds were simply BEAUTIFUL -and much to his surprise my friend (and all of us visitors) also loved the food!
I read the reviews before applying for a bed for my friend and just prayed that the reality would be as great as they were. And guess what? It very much was! Across the board. If I could award Hazelhurst six stars out of five I would. Highly recommended!

I recently visited a friend at Hazelhurst, whom I haven't seen for a few months. I was amazed to see her looking so well, infact better than I have seen her In a very long time. She was happy and very contented. She told me how kind the staff are and that she feels very well cared for. Thank you to
all at Hazelhurst.

I have visited family and friends in many care homes over by years but I can say with confidence that Hazelhurst Nursing Home is a joy to visit.
The way the staff interact with people is wonderful.
If I ever need a care home I will choose Hazelhurst. They are a different league altogether.
Wonderful.

The staff care is kindness. The home is clean and nice modern rooms. The day time activities are perfect. Having to put my mum into a home was and still is very difficult to live with, but there were no other option. Thankfully we found Hazelhurst which has made the process less painful.

My father had been a resident at Hazelhurst for a year until he sadly passed away in August. As a nurse myself and someone who has previously been involved in hospital CQC inspections my standards are very high. The compassionate, holistic care provided is of the highest standard.
My father was
treated as an individual in all aspects of his care, which made the difficult transition to a nursing home from home so much easier for him.
All of the staff are just wonderful; in recent times I have spent long periods of time at the home and have heard how they talk to the residents in such a respectful, caring and friendly way.
My father passed away at Hazelhurst and the end-of-life care he received was without fault. He was treated with dignity and respect, and as a family, nothing was too much, the staff went above and beyond.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Hazelhurst as a Nursing home - but it is more than this which makes it so special.

As next of kin for A and he spent his final nine weeks at Hazelhurst. He was already very frail on arrival and the care team were just wonderful in addressing his needs, getting to know him and nurturing him. The home is an amazing place, where nothing is too much trouble and the staff make such an
effort in getting to know each resident and what can help them feel happy. The team did their very best with A and I myself was welcomed with open arms and felt valued and treated as a member of the Hazelhurst family. During A's final days, I moved in to be with my loved one, this was encouraged and welcomed and I felt so looked after at such a difficult time.
What I really loved, was the openness and 'open door' policy of the home - nothing is hidden, everything is transparent and you can arrive at any time, be anywhere and see and hear the same level of absolute care with every single resident openness, love, TLC and A, high level of nurturing. It really is outstanding in every single way.

My mum was welcomed the moment she arrived and looked after with great professionalism, care, and concern for her wishes as an individual. Soon after arriving, she required end-of-life care and this was given to her in an exemplary fashion. The staff was supportive of myself and my husband as we sat
with her and other family visitors. While we found the rooms and facilities at Hazelhurst excellent, its greatest asset is its staff. I am sure if my Mum had lived longer they would have found ways to help her settle in and have a good quality of life.
