Staff are caring, patient, attentive and empathetic

My dear 91 year old friend, for whom I have LPOA came into Oulton Abbey after a serious illness in hospital. She has to be wheeled to the toilet, could barely walk, wasn't eating and had lost a good deal of weight. She was incontinent and very low in spirits. Because of the care she has received
from the staff, she is now walking about again without a stick, is eating well, regaining weight, recovering her continence and confidence, and most importantly is happy and contented. The staff have been amazing, providing kind, compassionate, professional care for her. What a transformation. I cannot tham them enough.

My mum moved into Oulton Abbey Care Home in February 2024. It was a difficult decision to make after 70 years in our house. But I know I'd found the right home for my mum on finding Oulton Abbey. My mum has thrived whilst in the care of wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble and all her care
needs are met. Food is excellent and activities planned very carefully. I have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone.

My mum has spent 5 years at Oulton Abbey and has full nursing care. She is now 97 and frail. Her dementia means she no longer has understandable speech. Her care has been wonderful and the staff know her well. She is happy and cheerful. Their deep knowledge of her needs means they are quick to
respond if she has any pain or difficulties. I am 100% happy with the care she receives.

My mum has only been in Oulton Abbey Care Home for 3 months & has settled so well. Mum loves her large en-suite room with large floor to ceiling window overlooking rooftops & fields. Mum loves her riser recliner chair in her room. Mum's favourite thing is the delicious home cooked food which she
says she cannot fault. Mum is checked on hourly 24/7/365 days. The staff are friendly, kind, caring & very well trained. In 3 months mum has gained half a stone in weight which was much needed. Mum's fluid intake has increased which again was very much needed. As her daughter & power of attorney, I cannot speak highly enough of the nurses & management team in particular. At 82 years of age, Mum is living her best life. Heartfelt thanks to all at Oulton Abbey.

My Mother has been a resident at Oulton Abbey since May 2022 and the care she has received has been impeccable.
The care/activites/cleaning/reception staff are always caring, friendly and approachable and nothing is too much trouble.
The management/matron are always available to discuss my Mothers
care and are always caring, empathetic and helpful with any needs we may have.
I visit the home most days and often at varying times and can honestly say the quality of care is consistently good and I would recommend the home to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

Very good, considerate and compassionate care. The home is clean and well run. The menu choices require improvement but budget constraints are appreciated.
The staff are excellent and welcoming. The home is now in need of some refurbishment. More trips out would be beneficial. The most important
thing, my brother is content and happy at this home.

Our experience has been very positive at Oulton Abbey Care Home. We are always warmly welcomed to a very pleasant, light and modern environment. All communications we have had, have been dealt with efficiently, effectively and we as family members have felt supported and well advised. Everyone in
the care home is pleasant, always willing to assist and professional. I believe our relatives could not be in a better care establishment. Our visits are an enjoyable day out that we look forward to. We have no doubt about our choice of this care facility.

My mum went to Oulton Abbey in March 2020 at the start of the lockdown. I was unable to visit and settle her in. All the staff have been wonderful in supporting her, not only physically, but also mentally during a very difficult period, and she is clearly loved by them. Nothing is too much trouble,
and I am constantly updated on her situation. This gives me total peace of mind knowing she is cared for in such a loving way. Thank you for keeping her safe during Coivd.

I have found all my communications with staff have been positive. All staff have demonstrated empathic care towards my mother.
My mother is settled and happy, she talks about activities and recreation she enjoys and for her being able to mix with others and be sociable is very important.
I highly
recommend Oulton Abbey and feel assured and confident in the high-quality care provided by the staff team.

My dad entered Oulton Abbey Care Home from hospital: his prognosis was approx two weeks. But with the love, care and attention he received from everyone at Oulton Abbey, he regained his personality and enjoyment of life again which had not been there for some considerable time whilst in hospital.
Every member of staff was responsible for dad’s remarkable progress. The tea ladies who always made sure the family were looked after, the carers who made sure that dad was always comfortable, stimulated and happy, to the nursing staff who ensured his medical needs were met, that he was never in pain and treated any ailment effectively and efficiently.
Dad lived the last few months of his life, happy, calm and relaxed. He passed away peacefully with dignity surrounded by his family and staff members all of whom cared for him a great deal. I can never express how appreciative the family are and would recommend Oulton Abbey to anyone who has to make the difficult decision about their loved one.

The Home, which is set in beautiful grounds, is bright and pleasant, with a homely and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful and provide personalised care for residents. Visitors may call at any time, and are well catered for: parking provision is good and inexpensive meals are
available for those who have to travel some distance, or simply wish to eat with the resident.
I would certainly recommend it to anyone seeking a care home.

I am a resident at Oulton Abbey Care Home. I have lived in Oulton for many years. When I became unable to look after myself it was perfect that Oulton Abbey was here for me. I moved in late last year and I stay on the ground floor residential area. I have lots of friends who are able to visit me in
my room or in the Lounge. I have a room near the Chapel which I find most convenient being a devout Catholic. The staff are wonderful, they work so hard to make us all happy. Meals are lovely and always on time and snacks are offered to us regularly. You couldn't say anything other than good for this place, I love staying here.

My wife has been a resident in residential care for 4 months. I chose this home after viewing a number of others for the welcoming atmosphere from staff and the apparent excellence of the facilities. I have been totally satisfied with the care and help given by the staff for my wife. Residents in
the residential care spend a long time there and are made to feel that it is their home. The relaxed and welcoming attitude makes both residents and visitors at home. The medical arrangements are completely up to scratch and help relatives to not feel worried or concerned about care. The open door approach means that even residents who prefer to remain in their rooms are well looked after and not left for long periods without contact or support. Visitors can call at any time. I would completely recommend Oulton Abbey to anyone looking for a care or nursing home.

Both my parents have been residents at Oulton Abbey nursing home for the last 18 months. It is a bright, modern purpose built facility with beautiful rooms and lovely communal areas and gardens. The staff are very caring and attentive at all times and also very welcoming to family members and other
visitors. I have visited several other nursing homes and can say that Oulton Abbey is the best by far. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in a nursing home without reservation. I also have to mention the food which is absolutely excellent.

I am a resident at Oulton Abbey Care Home. I moved in at the end of the summer last year. I reside on the Residential floor in a lovely room with a view of the garden. I am looked after by a lovely team of carers. The Residential area has a Residential Supervisor who is very attentive. I always look
forward to a visit from the Home manager and Deputy for an informal chat. I attend mass daily in the Chapel within the home. I do look forward to mass on a Sunday which is held in the Beautiful Abbey. I enjoy my food at the Home - Chef is very good and caters for my every need. The domestic team are very kind to me and help me to keep my room clean and tidy. They take my laundry and bring it back in a very good time. I have a long-standing connection with Oulton Abbey and I am pleased to be a resident in such a beautiful caring home.

Very little stimulation, service users left alone for long periods of time resulting in a lot of falls and injuries. A huge lack of communication with the family of residents regards to illness and injury i.e falls. Very inexperienced staff and management. In my experience, the management are very
heartless. Oulton Abbey says they specialise in dementia care but can not cope with this sort of illness unless the resident is not mobile. Would not recommend.
07 June 2018
Very lacking in experience and understanding of dementia care. Residents are not stimulated, which makes a depressing environment. Residents are left alone for long periods of time, resulting in falls and hospital admissions. The management do not treat concerns with the importance they require.
