View Full Details of Barchester Lydfords Care HomeJust a note to say the staff are brilliant and I have no doubts that everyone is looking after my mother well. The home is all very nice and food good - but it is made by the staff - well done and thank you.
Mum and Dad moved into Lydfords in October 2022. (Dad subsequently died in July 2023). Throught the whole of their day, together and subsequently my mother on her own, the care, love & support given to both of my parents and to us has been nothing short of exemplary. We cannot thank the whole Lydfords team enough and will definitely miss them.
Very comfortable homely feeling here
It feels sad to leave! Mom has been treated so well at Lydfords. She has put on weight (which she needed to do!) The food was so good! Everyone has been so kind + patient. Mum has dementia so needed to go to a nursing home but while I was looking for one I was helped and put under no pressure which during a fairly stressful time, I can't thank the manager enough for. I would highly recommend Lydfords - special thanks to the manager and 4 other members of staff - best wishes.
Mum chose to become a permanent resident during a recent respite stay. The whole team have done a wonderful job of helping her to settle, which has enabled her to develop lovely relationships with them and the other residents. The staff from all departments; Hospitality, Housekeeping, Care, Life Enrichment, Maintenance, Admin and Management really do work together as one team, which is reflected in the care that all the residents receive. Lydfords is very much a community. The premises are well maintained with a homely feel. The dining experience is fantastic, the tables are always beautifully set and the food quality is superb, with a variety of choices for all meals. The chefs do an amazing job of the presentation, which is equally as fabulous as the taste. The care staff are truly exceptional, delivering care that is personal to Mum. The level of communication that I receive is excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lydfords and the team that make it a very special place.
Another comfortable stay at Lydford's. I am in no doubt that my rapid recovery from recent hip replacement surgery has been of immense help. Everyone has been more than helpful and I have enjoyed another week there. Thanks to all staff.
My mother has been in Barchester Lydfords Care Home since November, she went for four weeks but has now decided to stay and not go home. The staff are great and look after my mother very well, they care for her and look after her very well. Mother goes to a number of the activities and they have something on every day, she loves her breakfast in bed every day. The food is great and she often refers it to be like a five-star hotel. All the staff are very polite and helpful and my mother loves staying there.
My father arrived at Barchester Lydfords Care Home in May 2024. On arrival, the staff were welcoming and encouraging but never pushy. As his health declined, the staff couldn't have been more caring. They were also very supportive to me and my family during our emotional journey. Their communication was excellent every step of the way. His end-of-life care was exceptional. I was able to observe staff with other residents. They were all treated as individuals with respect and dignity, nothing is too much trouble. I could not recommend Lydfords more highly.
I have just enjoyed a week of respite care. It was everything I would have wished for. A lovely welcome as I arrived and from thereon just perfect in every way.
I have lived with my daughter and son-in-law for the past year but as they were holidaying in the south of France, they booked me into Barchester Lydfords Care Home for the three weeks that they were out of the country. I found the service and providing of the care home to be very good with most helpful staff. I am approaching my 90th birthday next month.
Mum has been at Barchester Lydfords Care Home since November and loves it. She has a beautiful room and ensuite. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and take great care of Mum. Mum has no worries and loves taking part in the activities. The food is fantastic and Mum loves going into the dining room. It's like a five-star hotel.
Mum's move to Lydfords was initially for respite care for a fall and a bad experience in hospital - she had shockingly aged 10 years in 10 days - and then her house flooded! It was such a stressful time but the staff at Lydfords were so kind and supportive as we worked it through. We thought Mum might want to return to independent living but she has chosen to stay having become very fond of all the staff and established friendships with other residents. Having lived alone for years, we think she's enjoying having company and activity, feeling part of the village, and being served good food! We appreciate the relaxed, good-natured atmosphere when we visit but know it ramps up very professionally when Mum is poorly. It's particularly great that Mum is encouraged to continue to be as active and independent as she always wants to be but clearly feels able to ask for help when she wants/needs it. We are so very grateful to all at Lydfords who helped turn a disaster into a blessing!
Barchester Lydfords has been a wonderful home for our Dad for nearly 18 months now. The staff are so caring and it’s a very safe home for Dad which is so important with his Dementia. The food is excellent and the rooms are kept very clean. There are lots of activities to join in if you want to and a lovely garden which Dad likes to walk around weather permitting! We are so lucky to of found Lydfords. Thank you.
I was welcomed in the most warm and friendly fashion by each member of staff from my first moment of my stay at Barchester Lydfords Care Home and known, at my request, by my first name. My room was comfortable and well-furnished and one can live a very independent life with great meals! I feel very fortunate that Lydfords was near us and available.
Dad came into Barchester Lydfords Care Home for respite care after a small operation. He has not only left as his care was excellent and Dad was very settled here. The staff and carers are all so caring and know what Dad likes and dislikes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Barchester Lydfords to anyone who has to make the heartbreaking decision to move a relative into full-time care. The Lydfords team are amazing and we can't thank them enough.
I had a week recuperating after a full knee replacement and had excellent care from every member of staff - they couldn't have been kinder or more thoughtful and helped me to become more mobile.
I was so pleased to find Lydfords for my mother in her last few weeks. A superb care home which was excellent in all departments. Dignity and respect were the main impressions, and that was such a relief for me and my family. The management and whole ethos of the care home astounded and delighted all Mum's visitors. What a fabulous place!
Living at Lydfords has been the making of my dad. His personality and sociable characteristics have returned, and he has combatted his loneliness. The staff are amazing and can never do enough for him, but they also promote his independence and ensure that he is retaining his mobility, which has been a problem for him. This home is kept beautifully, and I couldn’t have placed him better. Amazing place, with amazing food and amazing people. Thank you so much. Dad tells me regularly - “I love it here; there’s always something to do and people to talk to”.
I have enjoyed two weeks of very comfortable respite care at Lydfords Care Home. The staff, without exception, are wonderful and will help and assist with whatever is requested. They always have a smile and a greeting. The quality, presentation and service at every meal has been an enjoyable experience on every occasion.
I came here for post-operative care which was perfect. I was very comfortable and well looked after. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful but professional. The food is excellent too! I would highly recommend it.
