Lydfords is located in the centre of the peaceful village of East Hoathly. With views of the South Downs that can be enjoyed from the picturesque gardens. This boutique home is tranquil and relaxing whilst offering expert residential care for short stay and long-term placements.

The care team are passionate about providing the best support to every individual whilst ensuring each person has their own personalised care plan to be able to continue living their life to their full potential whilst receiving the appropriate level of care and support.

The home is spread out over two floors with the main dining room located downstairs, where everyone can meet and enjoy their meals together, creating a social and enjoyable atmosphere. There is also a small private dining room for private family events or it can be used for a quieter dining experience.

The village itself has local amenities that residents have access to on a daily basis with the support of the team if needed. From the local post office and shop, pub, church and hairdressers. Alternatively they can choose to use the hairdresser that uses the in-house salon every Thursday, allowing them to continue to make their own independent choices.

The life enrichment team plan weekly activities that have been tailored to the interests of each resident from individual or small group activities to large events involving the local community.

Residents enjoy regular trips including visits to art galleries, theatre trips, lunch, bowling and national trust gardens. The team also support residents to arrange and enjoy independent interests with friends including Bridge, scrabble and sporting events.

Just a note to say the staff are brilliant and I have no doubts that everyone is looking after my mother well.

Mum and Dad moved into Lydfords in October 2022. (Dad subsequently died in July 2023). Throught the whole of their day, together and subsequently my mother on her own, the care, love & support given to both of my parents and to us has been nothing short of exemplary.
We cannot thank the whole Lydfords
team enough and will definitely miss them.

It feels sad to leave! Mom has been treated so well at Lydfords. She has put on weight (which she needed to do!) The food was so good! Everyone has been so kind + patient. Mum has dementia so needed to go to a nursing home but while I was looking for one I was helped and put under no pressure which
during a fairly stressful time, I can't thank the manager enough for. I would highly recommend Lydfords - special thanks to the manager and 4 other members of staff - best wishes.

Mum chose to become a permanent resident during a recent respite stay. The whole team have done a wonderful job of helping her to settle, which has enabled her to develop lovely relationships with them and the other residents.
The staff from all departments; Hospitality, Housekeeping, Care, Life Enrichment,
Maintenance, Admin and Management really do work together as one team, which is reflected in the care that all the residents receive.
Lydfords is very much a community. The premises are well maintained with a homely feel. The dining experience is fantastic, the tables are always beautifully set and the food quality is superb, with a variety of choices for all meals. The chefs do an amazing job of the presentation, which is equally as fabulous as the taste.
The care staff are truly exceptional, delivering care that is personal to Mum. The level of communication that I receive is excellent.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lydfords and the team that make it a very special place.

My mother has been in Barchester Lydfords Care Home since November, she went for four weeks but has now decided to stay and not go home. The staff are great and look after my mother very well, they care for her and look after her very well. Mother goes to a number of the activities and they have something
on every day, she loves her breakfast in bed every day. The food is great and she often refers it to be like a five-star hotel. All the staff are very polite and helpful and my mother loves staying there.

My father arrived at Barchester Lydfords Care Home in May 2024. On arrival, the staff were welcoming and encouraging but never pushy. As his health declined, the staff couldn't have been more caring. They were also very supportive to me and my family during our emotional journey. Their communication
was excellent every step of the way. His end-of-life care was exceptional. I was able to observe staff with other residents. They were all treated as individuals with respect and dignity, nothing is too much trouble. I could not recommend Lydfords more highly.

I have lived with my daughter and son-in-law for the past year but as they were holidaying in the south of France, they booked me into Barchester Lydfords Care Home for the three weeks that they were out of the country.
I found the service and providing of the care home to be very good with most helpful
staff.
I am approaching my 90th birthday next month.

Mum has been at Barchester Lydfords Care Home since November and loves it. She has a beautiful room and ensuite. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and take great care of Mum. Mum has no worries and loves taking part in the activities. The food is fantastic and Mum loves going into the dining

Mum's move to Lydfords was initially for respite care for a fall and a bad experience in hospital - she had shockingly aged 10 years in 10 days - and then her house flooded! It was such a stressful time but the staff at Lydfords were so kind and supportive as we worked it through. We thought Mum might
want to return to independent living but she has chosen to stay having become very fond of all the staff and established friendships with other residents. Having lived alone for years, we think she's enjoying having company and activity, feeling part of the village, and being served good food! We appreciate the relaxed, good-natured atmosphere when we visit but know it ramps up very professionally when Mum is poorly. It's particularly great that Mum is encouraged to continue to be as active and independent as she always wants to be but clearly feels able to ask for help when she wants/needs it. We are so very grateful to all at Lydfords who helped turn a disaster into a blessing!

Barchester Lydfords has been a wonderful home for our Dad for nearly 18 months now.
The staff are so caring and it’s a very safe home for Dad which is so important with his Dementia.
The food is excellent and the rooms are kept very clean.
There are lots of activities to join in if you want to and
a lovely garden which Dad likes to walk around weather permitting!
We are so lucky to of found Lydfords.

I was welcomed in the most warm and friendly fashion by each member of staff from my first moment of my stay at Barchester Lydfords Care Home and known, at my request, by my first name.

Dad came into Barchester Lydfords Care Home for respite care after a small operation. He has not only left as his care was excellent and Dad was very settled here. The staff and carers are all so caring and know what Dad likes and dislikes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Barchester Lydfords to anyone
who has to make the heartbreaking decision to move a relative into full-time care. The Lydfords team are amazing and we can't thank them enough.

I was so pleased to find Lydfords for my mother in her last few weeks. A superb care home which was excellent in all departments. Dignity and respect were the main impressions, and that was such a relief for me and my family.

Living at Lydfords has been the making of my dad. His personality and sociable characteristics have returned, and he has combatted his loneliness.
The staff are amazing and can never do enough for him, but they also promote his independence and ensure that he is retaining his mobility, which has been
a problem for him.
This home is kept beautifully, and I couldn’t have placed him better. Amazing place, with amazing food and amazing people. Thank you so much.

I have enjoyed two weeks of very comfortable respite care at Lydfords Care Home. The staff, without exception, are wonderful and will help and assist with whatever is requested. They always have a smile and a greeting.

I came here for post-operative care which was perfect. I was very comfortable and well looked after. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful but professional. The food is excellent too! I would highly recommend it.

I started working for Barchester Healthcare in January 2012 as a Healthcare assistant before becoming a senior carer after my level 2 VQ, then I became a Team Leader after my level 3 VQ.


I joined the Operational team in 2017 as an Operational Trainer teaching subjects such as Induction, Safeguarding, Moving & Handling, BLS, EFAW, and then became a Senior operational trainer in 2022 supporting the regional/Divisional team in coaching/mentoring new ops trainers and support development and innovations of the DLP and other programmes.


My passion is to support our residents and staff to provide the best quality care and I am very much hands on Manager.


Lydfords has a great team that I love supporting and I strive for the best for us all to further develop outstanding care in the home, ensuring our residents receive the best care possible.

Hello, my name is Joe and I am the Head Chef here at Lydfords.


I have always worked with food in different capacities, training along the way to become a chef. I have worked as a chef in Australia whilst living out there. I have learnt amazing techniques and some incredibly creative ways to present food or combine flavours.


Once I made the change from working in restaurants to care, I knew I found true passion.


Working in care has completely changed my outlook, because, in care, I get to pour my heart and soul into my work knowing that I am only doing what I am for the benefit of my residents.
