View Full Details of Holy Cross Care HomeThe home has looked after my mother for around 3 years. She has been provided with excellent care and compassion. We could not have wished for more loving care.
Each time I visit my great grandmother she tells us week in week out how the service is brilliant and Holy Cross is paradise. And that she can't fault it. She is always happy and celebrated her 100th - 103rd Birthdays here with fun and laughter.
My mother lived at Holy Cross for a year before her death. Throughout her time there I was greatly impressed with the quality of the care provided. It is a beautiful place, very well looked after, very clean and calm. There is a peaceful and respectful ethos. The home is very much run as a place to live a full and active life with a multitude of varied activities, outings etc. There is even a pub! The best part of Holy Cross are the amazing care staff. They are universally kind, compassionate, patient and caring. My mother was hugely fond of them and they of her. The nursing staff were also exceptional. I never ceased being impressed by how attentive and professional they were.
My mother has been a resident at Holy Cross Care Home for 3 Yesrs. During that time she has experienced kindness, care and compassion. The staff are quite exceptional and reach out to each person with a warm and welcoming smile. There is a real sense of community. The food is excellent and the staff offer a wide range of activities as well as organising suitable trips and excursions.
My Mum recently stayed at Holy Cross whilst she recuperated from an illness. The staff were all brilliant, made her feel really welcome and helped her settle in. The regular activities also helped her meet other residents. It was such a relief to feel that she was in such good hands.
This review applies to both times I have been resident at Holy Cross Priory Care Home. The first visit being in Autumn 2023 when I stayed there for 6 weeks after fracturing my left knee, and the second visit for 2 weeks after carpal tunnel surgery this May (2025) I was already familiar with the Holy Cross facilities as my mother was resident for a couple of years in 2008/9. In all cases it has been an exemplar of the very best kind, efficient and professional care. On my first admission in 2023 I was amazed to find several people still working there who had looked after my mother all those years ago, and who remembered both her, and me as a regular visitor. It is a testament to the beautiful atmosphere that staff remain so loyal for so many years, and still exhibit the same warmth, friendliness and patience. I thank everyone from reception to cleaners, care staff to caterers, nurses to management, and of course the lovely Sisters who lead by dedicated loving and cheerful example.
A very close of mine has been at Holy Cross since 2019. He moved into the residential part of the home and was made very welcome from day one. During his time here he has always been cared for to the highest standard by friendly experienced staff. A testament to the home is that many of the staff have worked at Holy Cross for years, they are incredibly supportive and helpful. My friend struggles with communication following a stroke and the patience and understanding of those around him has been superb. The home arranges fantastic events for the residents and their family's both on site and as external trips. This allows the residents to experience days out and mix with their family and friends. A quick note to say the quality and variety of food menu is excellent! (Very important!) The level of care from medical to personal on a daily basis cannot be faulted. I would recommend anyone wishing to visit to see it first hand and experience the warmth and high level of professionalism.
Our family friend has lived at Holy Cross Care Home for the last six years. He is exceptionally well cared for by the lovely staff who ensure he is able to enjoy activities and events on and off site. We love visiting him and frequently enjoy meals with him onsite.
My father has spent the last twelve months at Holy Cross Care Home and he's enjoying being looked after by all the team there. The care home is like a big family and my brother and I are always warmly welcomed when we visit. I cannot think of a better place for a loved one to be looked after and cared for. Thank you very much for all your care of my dad.
Holy Cross Care Home was outstanding in every aspect. We could not fault the care. It was better than any other care home I have been in and I used to work in one. My mother received wonderful end-of-life care there, which made for a good experience for the whole family and for her.
My father spent a year at Holy Cross Priory Care Home, following three years in a flat on site. It is in a wonderful setting, with good-sized rooms and a good menu. The first months were ok, although he never settled very well, missing his independence. After he became ill, he was diagnosed with dementia, and unfortunately, because they are residential they wanted him to leave. His care in the last few months was inadequate, and no attempt was made to meet his need to walk daily outside. Little things were neglected, such as ensuring his lights and TV were on. I was only asked to do one care review during his time there. When he left no one said goodbye despite the fact he had spent four years as a resident onsite. We had notice to move him and after a search found a wonderful place for him where he has been very happy and content. Always smiling and so well cared for. I'm afraid it has shown up the inadequacies of Holy Cross.
Dad has never wanted to go into a care home but due to his physical health, it become necessary. I had been recommended Holy Cross Care Home by friends who had relatives there. Dad has settled in so well. He feels safe and says the staff 'are lovely'. He is especially enthusiastic about the food, an important part of his day. The staff are sensitive to his needs and very encouraging. Personally, I feel so relieved to have found a home that he has settled into so well. Thanks to all the staff.
The care, kindness and attention to detail could not be faulted. A very happy experience for my wife.
I am always greeted with a smile, the staff could not be more helpful and friendly. My friend is cared for very well. Plenty of available activities. Very clean and well-run establishment, also lovely grounds to walk in.
I have been here for 2 days before coming to stay. Trying out my room and life here, before I came I had misgivings, now I have none. I shall not lose my independence. The manager and staff at every level and the residents have made me feel very welcome. The room is wonderful it has been repainted and newly carpeted and is very comfortable. I can bring my own pictures and pieces of furniture. I really look forward to becoming a resident on April 6th.
My aunt has been in Holy Cross for several years. All staff are dedicated to the care of residents. Warm, clean and generally a friendly home, bearing in mind the residents all have their own quirks. A wide variety of activities, summer outings, theatre trips. The home has a religious tone, having both nuns and secular care staff and trained nurses. Other religions are catered for. In my working life, I have visited many homes and Holy Cross is the only one I would use as a benchmark and if needed, move in.
The staff on the whole are all very kind, thoughtful and caring. Occasionally an agency nurse may stand at the end of my Father's bed and ask a question which he will not hear due to his deafness. Phone calls are made to keep us up to date if Dad has become unwell and face to face contact made when we visit. If there are any concerns then the manager will make contact. The staff also appear to have a genuine interest in the residents and their visitors. The rooms are spacious with large ensuite shower rooms. They are well furnished and kept spotlessly clean. There is an option to bring small items of your own furniture. Pictures, photos and a large widescreen TV were all hung by a helpful maintenance man. The communal areas are extensive and have a luxury feel. Conservatories, lounges and kitchens and are available for visitors to use with their relatives and friends. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There is a bowling green for the residents to enjoy and numerous paths winding through the grounds. The food is generally of a high standard and Dad campaigned to have custard put on the menu which has now been done. Snacks can be requested between meals and frequent drinks are offered. There appears to be a good range of activities on offer but Dad unfortunately is unable to take part due to his condition. Dad states that he feels very safe in the home and his only suggestion is that his call bell could be answered more quickly (he can be quite impatient at times). Dad is self funding and the fees are extremely competitive. Both the facilities on offer and the manner of the staff was far superior in comparison to the other 3 care homes we viewed when choosing a care home for Dad. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely care home.
My friend has been cared for at Holy Cross for the past 6 years and the care has been excellent at all times. I visit 2 or 3 times a week. The staff seem to remain there for a long time and the atmosphere is always calm and friendly.
