View Full Details of Birchwood HouseWe could not have found a better place for my mother to spend her final years. The staff were excellent, kind, considerate and totally professional. The way the staff handled the final days of my mother's life were exemplary. We will be forever grateful.
Mum was in home for 12-13 weeks. The staff were brilliant, fantastic caring very open with us, Mum was very stubborn but staff dealt fantastic with it, very patient with her. Treated her with dignity & respect make her laugh. Mum didnt want to be there but the staff make her fill welcome and encouraged her. We have no regrets in putting Mum in Birchwood a very good run home and as above caring proffesional staff from top to bottom. a big thank you.
My grandmother was a resident of Birchwood house for over 3 years, we call them her Birchwood family. They were so much more than carers and looked after her with compassion, kindness and humour. She was able to join in with activities and if she didn't feel like going downstairs the carers would regularly come up to her room and keep her company. She passed away in the early hours of the morning, a carer sat with her so she was not alone. Our family would not hesitate to recommend Birchwood to anyone.
I cannot thank Birchwood enough for the care, kindness, compassion and dignity they gave my Nan during her three years with them. Throughout her time there she was properly cared for and built fantastic relationships with the staff. We never had to worry about Nan's welfare, as the home were always one step ahead in making sure she was ok. As a family, we were always welcome to visit anytime day or night, and this gave us great comfort, especially during the final few weeks of Nan's time there. We will always be grateful for the care Nan was given. Each and every member of staff is worth their weight in gold!
The staff are excellent and very caring. All of the team there go above and beyond to create a fun, safe and secure environment. My mother has recently moved into Birchwood and every effort was made to make her transition smooth and stress free. All of the staff have done everything they can to help my mother settle in. The facilities are excellent and the home is exceptionally well run. This gives both my sister and I peace of mind that my mother is not just being well looked after but is also being treated with dignity and respect.
The staff looked after my mother so well during a difficult time, until she passed away. We were always greeted so warmly on visits and the Christmas party was excellent! I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to place there relative in a care home.
I cannot speak more highly of this care home. The staff put all they can into the job. Always welcoming, with open arms and hearts. The young lady that takes care of keeping the residents entertained is vibrant and imaginative, and puts great energy into the programme. This is a home I would really like to live in, when my time comes. I love them all.
all of the staff make Mum smile and look after her really well, very content with the service, they make her stay very pleasurable. I know mum really enjoys the laughs she has with the staff, ive also had a couple of meals with mum and i must say the food is excellent!
My mum was a resident here at Birchwood House, Speldhurst, if I could give above 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. The care given was full of love, compassion and kindness, she loved the girls and boys that cared for her equally, they spoilt her rotten, spending time with her, chatting, playing dominoes, painting her nails, and getting her treats. It was so nice I seriously thought about moving in with her! We visited everyday and there was always a happy smiling face to let us in, always ready to chat about her care, and telling us what a laugh they had with her. We could eat with her if we wished, which we did, delicious food by the way. I have been to quite a few care homes in the area, and I can say, hand on heart this is the best one. Thank you Birchwood and staff, you really are a home from home x
My mother has been at Birchwood for nearly three years. She tells me how happy she is there and the staff are very friendly and caring. There is a lovely atmosphere there, the staff and carers make It feel very homely and will always go that extra mile for their residents.
When it became clear my mother needed more care we looked around for a care home. As soon as we spoke to the manager we knew our search was over. Everything about Birchwood was so comforting - the staff, the home itself and the grounds. It isn't always an easy move into a home when you have been so independent and this was clearly understood by the management as well as all the other staff. I cannot recommend Birchwood highly enough.
You welcomed my hesitant Mother-in-law with open arms, and from the moment she arrived, we felt that you cared about her needs and well-being. You ensured that the transition was smooth and you helped her to settle, making all the visitors she received feel at ease and welcome. Thank you, it takes away so much stress knowing she is in a happy place.
After being welcomed into Birchwood every day this week and being able to spend hours with my aunt, I’ve had lots of opportunities to observe. It’s not just the level of physical care that’s important, it’s also the staff’s kindness and patience that ensures Birchwood never feels institutional. It’s a pleasure to hear my aunt enjoying chatting with her carers and seeing them sharing genuine smiles. I can say with much relief that I am heading home to Canada a lot happier now that I have seen for myself that my aunt is being well cared for. (And don’t get me started on the food, the meals are delicious!) Thank you Birchwood staff.
I am acting as next of kin for a resident and would visit regularly. I was always impressed by the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff, despite the resident's somewhat cantankerous behaviour on occasion. All staff recognised and welcomed me and took good care for my friend.
My mother has been in Birchwood for nearly two years. She is looked after extremely well. All the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to her needs. The management makes sure Birchwood is run for the care of its residents. There is a good variety of balanced meals each day and lots of activities to keep the residents mobile. It is a lovely old building with beautiful grounds. Birchwood meets all of our expectations for the care of my mother.
What a wonderful place for Mum to be looked after. A very home-from-home atmosphere. The staff have the ability to go about their duties calmly yet maintain a high level of care. The management team are very involved and very approachable and very professional. Their ability to spend time with me and hear my concerns has been excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend Birchwood House. Well done all the staff and thank you.
My family and I came over to visit during Valentine's weekend to visit a friend of ours who lives there, and we were given the most wonderful, warm greeting. Everyone at the care home is lovely, and the activities we took part in were fantastic... the highlight of our visit! What a way to get to know/spend time with the other residents! It's like one big happy family, and we can't wait to visit again!
I have now visited two different friends (2016) and now (2023/4). It's a lovely, homely atmosphere though I disliked the excessive display at Halloween - both 'over the top' and unnecessary. Some of the residents were scared. Christmas displays were good and appreciated!
My mother was a resident for seven years. The staff have been consistently kind and caring and very tolerant of some difficult behaviour, at times, from my mother. Several of the staff are the same as when she arrived. More recently, the new manager has really smartened up the interior, and there is a good range of creative activities. The staff dealt with her death with compassion and sympathy.
Birchwood House is a wonderful care home. My mum has been there now for 17 months, and she loves it there. She has nothing but good things to say about the home and the staff. My experience of the staff is that they are kind, caring, professional, attentive, and happy to give of their time. They appear to approach their jobs with interest and pride and look after the residents with respect, inclusivity, and very often with fabulous and appropriate humour as well! Their attitude is positive and they will give their upmost to sort out anything that is needed. I have always been welcomed extremely warmly, and these days the home and staff are feeling like an extension of my family. They are Mum’s other family, and I’m very thankful and appreciative that she has them looking after her. Thank you so much all of you for your wonderful care and support.
