Nan suffered a fall at her home recently and has spent the last 3 weeks in hospital before coming here.
She is in a much better emotional and mental condition since moving in here and she is very happy with the care she is recieving.

My uncle is very well looked after by all the staff and when he became very anxious and confused they immediately helped him by contacting the GP, who gave him some medication and now he is happier, relaxed and sleeping well. The staff really care about his wellbeing and are on call whenever he
needs them. This helps me too, to know I don't have to worry about anything.

Often sit with husband having his lunch and the variety is good. Had chocolate sponge and sauce, with custard, thoroughly enjoyed. Caters well for the age and residents.

My mum spent 2 weeks in respite care following a hospital admission.
The staff at West Oak Care Home have been so kind to my mum. On arrival at the care home, she was distraught as she wanted to go to her own home. All staff were so kind and patient with her on her arrival and managed to help her
to calm down and settle in. This kindness and understanding continued throughout my mum's stay. Also communication with myself and my brother by staff has been excellent.

My Mother spent two weeks here over the Christmas period following a short stay in hospital which had left her not strong enough to go home straight away. The manager and staff could not have been more welcoming and she had a lovely comfortable room. She was very well cared for and nothing was too
much trouble - I also felt reassured that she was in safe hands over what was a very busy family time for me. She even had her birthday there and they surprised her with a lovely cake! She had everything she needed to rest and recuperate before going back home.

My mum came to West Oak for palliative/end of life care, and we could not have wished for a better experience at a really difficult time. The care was attentive and compassionate and we really felt the staff connected with Mum on an individual level. The room was really nicely furnished and we
really appreciated the coffee area downstairs. Food was great. Overall outstanding.

My wife, Penelope, was admitted on 30th December 2025 for end of life care. She was in the terminal stages of pancreatic cancer and passed away at 10:25 on 11th January 2026. The care received during this time could not be faulted. She was treated with care and dignity to the very end. The rose
placed on her body after she passed was a thoughtful gesture.

This is not our first respite care and we have always been impressed by West Oak care.
I wish to say that the nursing care remains excellent. I could not have wanted better attention from the nurses who had much to deal with. Staff as always, friendly and attentive.
However this time the cleaning
of the bathroom was poor and, worse, an infection on A's big toe, clearly visible, was not noticed for at least three days so I do not feel his personal care was sufficiently well done.

My sister came to west oak during Covid in 2020.
Visiting could have been difficult, but the staff were amazing accommodating loved ones in a safe way.
The staff here are wonderful, very caring and friendly, in fact they are like family.
My sister was previously in a new care home which
cosmetically was lovely but the care wasn't there for her. Peace of mind is a great feeling, and knowing she is in good hands, gives me that feeling.
West oak is open 24/7 so you can visit any time you wish.

After illness, my Dad needed respite care and then a permanent nursing home to meet his needs. We looked at a couple of homes in the Wokingham area and was impressed by West Oaks. The home is clean, modern and well-staffed. From the manager down to the catering staff, you really feel that they care
about residents and providing the best service and care.
My Dad's bedroom overlooks the lovely garden at the back. The bedroom is smaller than others in the home but it offers all the space he needs with his own bathroom. The home is warm and the food is good. The catering team will prepare within reason whatever a resident would like.
The nursing and healthcare staff are all lovely, and genuinely care about giving residents like my Dad the best life that they can have. I am particularly impressed with the way they communicate and look after residents.
I am very happy that my Dad is living in West Oak and I feel reassured that he is well looked after.

My late husband was in West Oak for only a week after discharge from the hospital. He was extremely ill and also had Parkinson's and advanced dementia. The management, nurses and carers were both empathetic and caring and looked after him on a continual basis they also made me and the family most
welcome at all times. My husband passed away with dignity in his own room and that gave the family comfort in a very difficult situation.

My brother was kindly accepted by this nursing home whereas others had refused to take him in because of his challenging behaviour with late stages of Parkinson's/dementia. He was only in there for a week before he passed away but it was comforting that he spent his final week in such loving care
with wonderful people who couldn't have done more to help him. They looked after the family and accepted us all with open arms. I would thoroughly recommend.

The senior general manager and administrator were amazing and completed onboarding for Mum so quickly and efficiently. Mum moved from another home and has settled in so well to Barchester West Oak Care Home. The staff are so caring and know all of the residents well. Mum does sleep a lot but the
team actively try and get her interested in what is happening with activities. I love the culture of the home, I think this is what really made our decision, it really does feel like a home. There are always lots of refreshments for the residents and last weekend, when I visited, the person on duty made up a tray with a cloth, tea cups and saucers and two lovely slices of cake for Mum and I to sit and enjoy some personal space in the conservatory end of the ground floor, the visit was made to feel very special. I love the fact that Mum has to interact, she is out of her room with other people all day and so, is never alone. She had nineteen falls within five months at the old home, she has been at West Oak a month now and no falls.
