The management & admin staff were unfailingly courteous, informed & quick to help, which made an incredibly difficult time so much easier to navigate. This is a home that cares - about the people in it & the families who love them, I will be forever grateful for the compassion, professionalism & humanity shown to Mum (& us) in her final weeks.

Our Mother went into West Oak in July 2020, for residential dementia care. She died there on 21 May 2026. In that time, incl during Covid visiting restrictions, she was looked after with kindness, empathy & skill. The nursing staff & carers provide exemplary care & professionalism. We have always been especially grateful that the main dementia nursing team have remained the same for almost the whole of Mum's stay, which has meant they knew her and her needs so very well. Also the lead carers are long term, Mum was on affectionate terms with most of them. During the short period of decline leading up to her death everyone at West Oak provided care & support to Mum & us, her daughters, with diligence & genuine thoughtfulness for what was ahead. We are most grateful that at the end, Mum's nurse & carer were people she knew well & trusted. We were all in safe hands. Every member of the wider team is approachable & helpful. I think West Oak understands that staff are the most crucial thing.

My father was resident here for almost 3 years before he passed away. When he arrived he was very ill but the high level of care he received meant he recovered and began to flourish. EVERY member of staff is kind, caring, professional and always had dads best interest at heart, my family and I can not thank them enough for what they have done to enhance dads final years. We were always kept fully up to date with dad's various medical issues. His room was constantly tidied. His personal needs were a top priority and never at any point was he unattended for too long .. they even baked him a cake on his birthday . If you are looking to place a loved one at West Oak, I can not recommend this care home more highly. This was definitely the best choice we made for my dad's care.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
We're grateful for your support and happy to hear our team enhanced Mike's final years. Our team works hard to ensure that every resident receives the right care, and it's great to hear that they succeeded. Your feedback encourages us to keep improving.

My Mother spent two weeks here over the Christmas period following a short stay in hospital which had left her not strong enough to go home straight away. The manager and staff could not have been more welcoming and she had a lovely comfortable room. She was very well cared for and nothing was too much trouble - I also felt reassured that she was in safe hands over what was a very busy family time for me. She even had her birthday there and they surprised her with a lovely cake! She had everything she needed to rest and recuperate before going back home.

Hi!My name is Ioan, and I am the Home Administrator of West Oak Care Home. Attitude makes the difference the motto that leads my way of life. Entrusted by this belief, I have decided to develop my professional skills and, as a result, I have completed a business management program.
My previous work experiences revealed a responsible person with a natural ability to adapt to new teams and develop trustful relationships. Willing to move on to the next chapter of my professional growth and eager to add new skills, I joined Barchester at the beginning of September. I am pleased to see the amount of hard work done by the entire team and company, and I am proud to be a part of this.

I have found a very rewarding role in assisting those who need our support.
My role here at West Oak is to provide a safe and happy environment for loved ones.

Hi, I’m Helen and I’m the new Relatives Ambassador here at West Oak.West Oak has become my second home, and I can often be found joining in activities with my Mum (we both particularly enjoy any excuse for a sing-song) or in the bistro talking to residents and other relatives.
Navigating a move into a care home can be tough for the relatives involved. I unfortunately had to move my mother into West Oak in November and have previously had 2 other close relatives here in the last 8 years.
If you ever have a concern or simply want to chat, I’m always happy to listen.
