Having visited five other care homes in the area I can say that I am pleased to have chosen West Oak Care Home. As soon as I was shown around I felt very much at home with the friendly staff. I knew straight away that my husband would be well looked after and safe. The nursing staff keep me informed
and all care staff are great.

Some documentation is not written up properly in her file in the bedroom i.e. having a shower when she has not. The food and the drinks are only ever served lukewarm. Her safety and security are a problem, of a wandering resident who comes into Mum's room day and night which really upsets her but it
is never documented in her file in the bedroom.

I'd like to say a big thank you to all the staff for looking after my aunt so lovingly. I was really worried how she would settle but when I visit she is happy and taking part in activities! It's a big weight off my shoulders to not be so worried about her. Thanks again.

In August 2022 I supported a family to look for a suitable home for both parents. West Oak far exceeded all other establishments we visited. The atmosphere is clean, warm and friendly. The facilities are outstanding. In September my clients moved in and were given a very warm welcome by all members
of staff. Their move came at the right time, the nursing care and dignity given by the nursing team to one of the couple was brilliant. West Oak made all family members welcome especially the hostess who made sure we were catered for.
The activities coordinators are absolutely fantastic. They provide a variety of activities and entertainment, personalised to individual capabilities.
Would definitely recommend.

My father was welcomed to West Oak following a spell in hospital with a fractured pelvis. During his first day he was included in a game of indoor bowls which immediately had a positive impact on him. I was truly humbled by the care and attention provided by the carers. They went out of their way to
give a positive experience to each resident. Also they managed time to address all of my queries and concerns of myself. As for the nursing staff, they were truly wonderful. They showed great care and compassion in treating my father's needs. Their approach to compiling the care plan was extremely diligent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. At all times my father was treated with the utmost dignity. Also a special thanks to the back office staff who were at all times prompt, efficient and compassionate. If ever needed to be admitted to a care/nursing home, this would be the only name on my list. I can't thank you enough.

I visited West Oak care home a few days back to meet one of my family members, I was impressed with their service. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They do look after their residents and show concerns about their wellness and health. The management team are very professional and open to taking
suggestions from resident's family for better personal care. Staff is paying attention and care to each resident to their best. The atmosphere was very relaxed and calm. I Would definitely recommend this care home to anyone who is looking for their family members' care.

My mum moved into West Oak five weeks ago. I have been blown away bu the care she has received. Without exception, everyone is friendly, kind and professional. They get to know residents as individuals, making their care bespoke to personal needs and preferences. I can honestly say nothing is too much
trouble - they not only look after residents so well; they also care for their families. It's such a massive transition leaving home for everyone involved when the care is spot on; it's such a relief and support. Thank you.

If the CQC had a rating above outstanding, West Oak would be guaranteed to be awarded it. They are far superior to Mum's last home. The staff are caring, professional, friendly, and attentive and became almost like family. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and all done with caring words and a smile.
Admission to West Oak is a blessing for any family. We are so lucky to have found them.

Very pleased to see more activities now restrictions have been lifted.
Nursing and care are excellent.
Standard in all areas is very good with the exception of decoration in the room and the plumbing in the en-suite.

My father is happy, always smiling, comfortable and not in pain. Thank you to all your staff for their wonderful care they are giving my father. Mum came to West Oak's dementia unit during the first Covid lockdown as she was not safe at home. Since day one, we have been supported and kept informed during a difficult first few months. Continuity of care is important to us and we have bee delighted at the relationships formed with the staff. Mum
clearly trusts the staff and has smiles for them. She is safe and content. We have not been able to see inside but look forward to when we can.

My Mum has been in West Oak for over two years now and s very happy and very well cared for. I have peace of mind that my Mum is being looked after and the staff will always call me with any concerns. I have a very good relationship with the staff. On visiting Mum she always looks clean and tidy and
happy. My Mum was not a very sociable person but she is engaging with the staff and is always smiling.

Very well run home. The staff are always friendly and helpful. My mother has been a resident for two years and has received very good care. Until Covid-19 arrived, the entertainment in the home was well organised and enjoyable.

Since July 2020 when my mother came to live at West Oak I have nothing but praise for the management, carers, activity team and support staff. In very difficult circumstances they have always kept my sisters and I informed. Visits have been difficult but Skype has helped tremendously.

Ever since my grandma moved into West Oak I have been extremely happy. Shortly after she moved in, lockdown happened. West Oak has tried to accommodate and help individual families with this hard time. My car broke down the other day and the Manager was very helpful and even allowed me to see my grandma
at the door and socially distanced, which meant a lot to us both.

I am deeply passionate about caring for older adults and individuals living with dementia. It is incredibly important to me that our residents at West Oak enjoy fulfilling, meaningful lives, surrounded by compassion and dignity.
At West Oak, I uphold an open-door policy. Please never hesitate to come and speak with me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I am committed to addressing any issues promptly and transparently. Integrity, honesty, and respect are core values that guide everything I do, and I believe these principles are essential to fostering trust between staff, residents, and families.

Liviu qualified in 2004 and worked for two years in an emergency unit before doing 11 years as a paramedic.
More recently, Liviu has had senior roles in both Austen House (our sister home) and West Oak.
Liviu is often on the floor engaging with our wonderful residents and staff and ensuring smooth and proper handovers between staff every day.
Liviu can be found on either of our units or in the Managers office on the ground floor in reception.
