From my initial contact when I was reluctantly considering long term care as an option Lochduhar team has been caring, supportive and very informative. I was given access prior to my husband moving in to get his room ready for him and show his family where he was going to be. Moving in during
Christmas preparations meant there were lots of activities going on that both of us were welcomed to. We were able to have Christmas lunch together. The staff worked so hard to ensure everyone was looked after. I have attended my first friends and family meeting and found it to be welcoming, supportive and informative. I have been impressed by the efforts made to get to know my husband despite communication difficulties. I chose Lochduhar as I understood it to be the best in the area and it has proved worthy of its reputation. I am grateful to the team for helping us both through this extremely difficult time.

My mother was looked after by your team at Lochduhar Care Home in Dumfries for approximately 4 years. 4 extra years of her life my mum had because of your excellent care!
I wanted to write an excellent review for recognition of my gratitude for the exemplary treatment I believe I had.
Your staff
and management have been amazing, right up to the moment she passed away in September.
I recommend the home wholeheartedly.

So pleased our family member is being looked after at Lochduhar in Dumfries. From our research & visits it was clear the Lochduhar offered a safe, well run & really professional care facility for different levels of dementia residence but only after seeing first hand on a day to day basis after 1
month could we appreciate the supportive, relaxed atmosphere but at the same time watchful awareness of the staff. Every staff member encountered, in all depts, have a possative effect on residence.
We were dreading the move, but now accept that our loved one is in the best place possible.

On visiting other care homes in Dumfries I knew straightaway Lochduhar was the best choice for Mum. The staff I have interacted with are a credit to the organisation. They are so kind and respectful. The lobby area is nicely decorated and welcoming.

Lochduhar is a very pleasant care home. Mum is looked after exceptionally well with lots of activities going on. All the staff appear well trained & are courteous & polite. The food is excellent with a lot of choice & the grounds upkeep & the building is immaculate

I am absolutely delighted & extremely impressed with the level of care at Lochduhar, my mother was placed into care here January 2025, the management & staff are first class, I really couldn't fault them if I tried, they are so professional, attentive, respectful, & compassionate, extremely switched
on & very aware of what's going on around them at any given time, I receive very good communication in relation to my mothers care, they are in touch as soon as there is anything they feel I need to know, I visit regularly & my mother is always so well turned out, clean & fresh, her room is immaculate, her clothes & belongings are well looked after, nothing goes missing from her room, the food is fantastic, there are lots of activities for the residents to take part in too if they wish, & staff really do go the extra mile to encourage residents & to include everyone, it also has extremely well cared for grounds. A truly fantastic & highly experienced team who give me total peace of mind.

My Granny has recently moved into Lochduhar and has settled really well. This is down to the staff and the running of the care home. The activities are varied, along with the meals. Staff are friendly and approachable.

As always the team are consistently very much engaged with their patients and relatives and friends .It truly is always a happy relaxed atmosphere which is a challenge given its Memory lane with dementia pts .Ihave nursed for 50 years and never cease to be amazed at the high level of care

My father has been a resident in Barchester Lochduhar for a year now and I am always pleased with the quality of care provided to him by all the staff.
Lochduhar is very family oriented, nothing appears to be any trouble to the staff and it is always very welcoming.
I had the pleasure of
visiting on St Valentine's Day and thought the effort put in by all the staff to make it a celebration for residents and guests was amazing. The food and service would put a lot of restaurants to shame. All the little extra touches from the table decorations, Prosecco, chocolates, and heart shaped shortbread certainly made it feel like a very special occasion. I know the only complaint my father has is that there is too food much but he must be enjoying it he rarely misses a meal!
Thank you all for the respect and valuable support you provide to my dad.

Since my mum moved into Barchester Lochduhar Care Home, the staff have been wonderful. They are very friendly and helpful towards my mum and myself every time I visit. They have helped her adjust to being in a care home, especially when she is agitated and confused (she has dementia).

Our father is receiving excellent care from staff at Barchester Lochduhar Care Home. They are caring and professional in all that we have seen so far. Our father is in excellent hands and is in a safe and secure nursing home. He enjoys daily activities to help his physical mobility and mental
stimulation as well as helping him integrate with other residents. The home is clean and well-staffed. The staff go the extra mile. Very happy with our father's care.

Barchester Lochduhar Care Home is a really nice place for your loved one to live. Staff are caring and look after the residents well. Staff are very approachable if you have questions/queries regarding loved ones. Residents are kept clean and tidy. Lots of varied activities for residents and can be
adapted to suit residents capabilities. Also cater for varied dietary needs.
This is the second family member in here and if I had to choose again for a loved one, this would be my first choice if elderly mentally infirm unit was needed.

Mum moved in earlier this year. From the very start, the staff have been so welcoming, caring and compassionate not just to my mum but also to my dad who visits daily. As a family, we have so appreciated their care and feel so fortunate that Mum has got a space in Lochduhar where we know she is
being very well cared for. I'd like to say thank you to all the staff for everything they are doing.

My mum has been a resident of Lochduhar for 12 months. The staff here made this transition from home to care home the best it could possibly be, for all of us as a family, but particularly for my dad who was Mum's sole caregiver for 15 years. It has been a difficult time for Mum; however, the staff
at Lochduhar make him (and us) so welcome and treat us all like extended family. Mum is more settled, and I feel has actually improved, thanks to every member of the team.

The month began with my husband recovering from a nasty chest infection - during which he had lost a reasonable amount of weight. He was weighed and dieticians visited. He has meal supplements and all is progressing. On February 14th we were honoured along with other couples and residents to a
beautiful restaurant menu meal. The food, table dressing and ambience was excellent and memories of happiness were made. As I was unable to come for the Valentine's lunch owing to a family friend's funeral, my husband and I were dined in the late afternoon and then followed the love song concert.

I have found everyone at Lochduhar Care Home to be kind, genuine, selfless and supportive. It is tough adjusting to a parent in care let alone with dementia. Today the home took a group to lunch on the river. Fun in the sun. The first time Mum, Dad and I have been out together since December 2022.
Thank you for giving us happy times in a challenging period of our lives.

From day one, my mum has been treated superbly by all at Barchester Lochduhar Care Home. Staff are extremely welcoming and nothing is any trouble. Communication is first-class and, from my perspective, I have had complete peace of mind since my mum began to live here.
Quite clearly staff selection
is very good and quite clearly the home is managed superbly with a genuine passion for residents and their families' well-being. First-class services and can't thank you enough!

My mum has been in Barchester Lochduhar Care Home now for just over two years. The staff are fantastic with her, with a family feel whilst visiting. She loves a hug and I know she gets plenty when I am not there. They have some great activities for them, Mum loves a wee sing song and a wee dance and
great to see her enjoying the music with other residents.

For anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones I highly recommend Barchester Lochduhar Care Home in Dumfries as I have found the care my brother receives is absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have asked for any better, the staff are so understanding of his daily needs and are so patient with
him. When I visit or call the staff are always there to let me know how he is, they take the time to talk to me, anything that he needs they always let me know or if he is unwell I am kept fully informed. I would definitely give Lochduhar ten stars as they thoroughly deserve it.
