From the moment my friend arrived at Wessex House until the moment he passed away the care he received was first class. But it was not just the care he received, as a friend I was welcomed with open arms too. Everyone without exception made me welcome.
The care and respect shown in his final days
from all staff was incredible.
Care Homes often get bad press, Wessex House exceeded all my expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a place of safety, comfort and care.

Dad was taken into care at short notice. From day one he was welcomed. All the staff no matter who they were, were kind, attentive and respectful at all times. Senior staff kept the family informed of any changes, or took him the phone to chat to distance family. Although a short stay, at the final
hours dad was given the necessary attention, and the family support, but also left to grieve as required.

Our Mum was at Wessex House for 2.5yrs until she passed away last month. Accepting she needed professional help was difficult for us but from day 1 Lorna and her team looked after Mum and us. Their care has been exemplary but their compassion shows no bounds. All the staff have stretched their care
beyond Mum to us as a family. Even at the end we were able to be with her and all the night staff kept checking in on us. On a practical level, the home has always been spotlessly clean, the food excellent and plentiful. We were welcome anytime. We have built up a lovely relationship with the staff, we miss them now we arent visiting every day. The other thing we noted.. the majority of the staff that were there when Mum was admitted were still there 2.5 yrs later so it was good to have that continuity but its a sign of a good home that the staff turnover is so low. We will always be grateful that if Mum couldn't be at home she was in the next best place at Wessex.

My mum has been at Wessex House for nearly a year now with quite advanced dementia. I have always found the staff friendly, patient and careful. They are kind to, and patient with mum in all the interactions I have witnessed.

A well-run and happy home. The staff are really kind and helpful.

My husband was a resident for approximately 6 weeks. From emergency admission to his passing, he was always treated with the utmost kindness, courtesy and respect from all staff. My family and I interacted daily with everyone at various times of day and night; with cleaners, laundry and kitchen
staff, care assistants and nursing professionals and the administrative and management teams. Nothing was too much trouble and there seemed to be a way for everything to be accommodated, albeit when short-staffed, it sometimes took a little longer. There appears to be a good relationship with the nearby doctors' surgery (also short staffed!) with regular reviews. The Manager, Lorna, is confident, friendly and caring. She and her senior team made themselves available to me when I needed them most and even after just a short acquaintanceship, I would welcome any of the staff as friends. The impression is of a workplace where everyone smiles, even under pressure, and is respected for what they do.

My husband has been a resident for 11 months. He has always been treated with care and kindness in a most professional way. I have been contacted promptly when any problems have arisen, and these have been dealt with by the nursing staff in a competent manner.

I find Wessex House a friendly place, the staff are all approachable and helpful. My husband enjoys his food and the menu looks good to me. Residents are encouraged to attend the activates, music being a favourite. The home is always clean, comfortable and welcoming. The residents clothes look clean
which is important to me.

I cannot thank all the staff enough for all the care they are providing for my dad. The medial staff are quick to response to any health related issues and keep me informed. Dad is always washed and in clean clothes and his room is always clean. He loves the food. Sally goes over and above. A
special mention to the lovely ladies who made sure he has all his toiletries, paper, chocolate and make him smile everyday.

Our mum has been a resident in Wessex House for over 2 years and we have found their care to be excellent. Mum recently celebrated her 80th birthday and they helped us mark this milestone and made the moment special.

My Mum needed a short period of care whilst convalescing from a hospital stay. The standard of care was excellent and the staff were all extremely kind to Mum. Her room was spacious and the whole place was very clean. Whenever I visited the staff were always very welcoming.

We reviewed 3 homes before choosing Wessex House. The light level, cleanliness and kitchen impressed us. Since arriving, the attitude of the staff and their professionalism have surprised us. They are more flexible than I was at home, so if meals are missed (sleeping) she is fed when awake, even at
night. The staff are very observant and understanding, and the whole team communicate with each other. Spoke to a member of staff you don't know, and they know more than you do about food, sleep patterns etc. Importantly, they are always available. They also keep an eye on me!

Following a terminal diagnosis, we decided to place dad into the care of Wessex House for end of life care. From the initial enquiry to the day that dad passed away, the standard of care has been second to none.
I feel I need to highlight the staff kindness and compassion, the quality of care,
and a welcoming environment that feels like home. The staff went above and beyond to create a positive and comfortable experience for both dad and the family that visited him.The rooms and general living spaces are immaculately clean and well maintained. All rooms are bright, cheerful, welcoming and where dad felt safe and happy. Dad was always offered a excellent variety of quality food options that were very appetising and cooked by their own chef! I cannot thank the (Management Team) for their kindness and also the clinical staff who were always on hand to answer any questions we had.

My brother has lived in Wessex House since the end of August. He has severe learning disabilities as well as dementia and physical health challenges, so his needs are high and increasing. He moved there following a long period in hospital whilst we struggled to find a nursing home that could and
would meet his needs. Wessex House staff, despite it not being a specialist home for people with LD, meet his needs inclusively and attentively, providing him with appropriate activities and meeting his complex dietary needs. He has a lovely room. A recent and tricky hospital admission has proved that Wessex House staff, from the home manager to carers, have proved not only able but willing to respond to, manage and advocate for his needs even in very difficult circumstances. They have all gone the extra mile to ensure that he can be cared for safely and with kindness, and kept us updated. I am so pleased to be able to trust his care to both Wessex House and the adjoining GP practice.

I'm so greatful for the care my father-in-law receives. He suffers from an awful illness that sometimes makes it hard for family to see him as we want to remember the man before the diagnosis. Him not knowing who we are, or even that we are their can be so upsetting.
We can't thank staff enough,
they support us as a family as well as caring beautifully for my father-in-law's needs. Us knowing he's safe and cared for by a professional compassionate team is a weight lifted off our shoulders.
They go the extra mile to personalise his care. Even know he's is unaware of his surroundings he is always involved in activities, he's well groomed and well fed. All the things he would have wanted.
Again thankyou

Wessex House cared for my husband with kindness and compassion in his last two months of life. From the manager to the handyman, all the teams who make the home tick helped our family through a very difficult time with a sense of calm that nothing was too much for them to take care of our loved one
to the very best of their ability.

My mother-in-law has been at Wessex House for just over one year. The nursing care has been first-class during this period. My mother-in-law has dementia and needs 24/7 attention and this is given professionally and with care. The accommodation is kept exceptionally well and is very comfortable,
coupled with staff working with a smile on their faces. I do not hesitate to recommend Wessex House.

I visit nearly every day. Entry/security arrangements are fine. The staff are welcoming and helpful and management accessible and effective. The rooms are bright and clean if somewhat hospital-style, which is probably most suitable for the majority of residents but perhaps not for everyone. The food
(which I have sampled!) is tasty, varied and very well cooked. Portions are probably ample for most residents but the more active might discern they are slimming. However, plentiful snacks are always available. Communal facilities are bright and comfortable but underused despite great efforts by the entertaining staff to engage participants. The weekly hairdresser is much appreciated by the lady residents. Overall excellent.

Dad lived at Wessex House for the final 8 months of his life. Dementia is never easy, but he was always treated with great care and dignity.
In his last couple of weeks of life, the staff would often sit in his room to keep his company - sometimes even when they were on their breaks. Much
appreciated, really personal care.
