My husband was admitted to Canterbury House with Alzheimer's disease & because he was a danger to himself & others. Since his arrival he has been given outstanding care & support by the staff who have very skilfully nursed his illness & handled his difficult, sometimes aggressive personality. I
cannot commend them highly enough.

My mother-in-law is treated with care and compassion. Staff are always helpful and are gentle with her. She has to be hoisted to move her into the wheelchair and this is carried out with patience and professionalism.
We are kept up-to-date on any health issues, including when there has been a need
to call the GP out.
The home is always clean and it does not suffer from the bad smells that some homes have.
Her original admission (2 years ago) was handled with sensitivity during a stressful time for my husband (resident's son) and I. There was a feeling of confidence that she was moving into a home which would be her forever home. This was following 2 different residential care homes plus a period on a mental health ward.
We know that she is safe and well cared for which is a huge relief to us.

My dad has been at Canterbury House for over 12 months. Care is faultless - all staff are all extremely helpful and really good with dad showing him dignity at all times. Canterbury is very clean and it never smells. We as a family were very worried about dad - but they have made him so welcome.
Thank you to all at Centerbury House.

Wonderful place. Staff were very kind to my father during his stay. They took time to help him understand what was happening, managing to use their experience to keep him comfortable. They achieved more during his short stay as a very poorly person, than I had expected.
Would definitely recommend
for dementia patients who has difficult needs.

The staff provide excellent care under very difficult circumstances. All residents there are of high needs and all are treated with dignity and respect.
The care provided gave us peace of mind that my mother in law was being looked after.

Mum was treated very well in the care home. The staff were fantastic with her and we were kept up to date with ongoing care for her. She could be very difficult at times, all staff, and management understood what made her 'tick' and managed her accordingly so that mum still felt valued and treated
with respect.

My sister has been a resident at Canterbury House since October 2024. In this time, she has received such respect, and the care has been exceptional. Two staff members in particular are amazing, and as a company, you should reward them for their compassion, not only for the posts they hold, but
their caring nature. All the staff on floor 2 are brilliant!

The partner of a close friend was admitted some weeks ago after a stay in hospital. I accompany my friend on some visits as support. I did not know much about these type of homes - but as soon as we arrived the first time - the place had a warm, comfortable feel about it. The staff are amazing and
are very attentive to each resident addressing them by name. They obviously get to know each resident well - thus making them and their families feel comfortable.
I was pleased for my friend as she was very anxious about what to expect. As this home is lovely it has taken a little of the worry away.

I've visited my mother's partner 4-5 times over the last couple of months, and we're very pleased that he's where he is.
He's eating more than he ever would at home or in hospital, the staff all know him by name and are very attentive to him, and he's always warm and comfortable when we arrive and
leave.

My partner was transferred to Canterbury House after a few months in hospital - at first, I was anxious as it is not close to where we live and I don't drive. However, the care given far outweighs any misgivings I have had. The staff at Canterbury House are extremely caring and nothing is too much
trouble. The food is good and varied and there is always friendly interaction with all staff. Residents are always clean and have regular haircuts, eye tests and other treatments if wanted.

I found Canterbury House Nursing Home terrible. Staff abrupt and not approachable. Building layout not good as some rooms out of sight leaving clients vulnerable as not seen. Deputy manager very loud and unsympathetic towards my mother's needs. No entertainment for clients or games notices in 6
weeks. Food left in front of clients and left to go cold when not assisted. Care very poor and would not recommend this nursing home.

Family were left with little option but to accept this home following a revenge eviction from a previous care home which resulted in a 5 week hospital stay and suffering a stroke in hospital. Regrettably, our experience of the dementia care industry was not improved upon by Canterbury House. The
building itself is more akin to a prison block, very loud acoustics, no activities and low staffing levels aggravated by a clear lack of experience. The overall end of life experience was so obviously lacking from management down, no more so that in the last days. My advice to everybody is pray you do not get dementia.

I cannot thank or praise the staff in the care home enough. They all, without exception, treat the residents with such dignity it is humbling to me. I visit my sister frequently and no matter when I wander in the staff are working hard to fulfil the needs of all the residents.

Our Dad spent the last 20 weeks of his life before he recently passed away at this fantastic care home. It was the hardest decision for us to have to make for our Dad, but we were no longer able to provide him with the specialised care he needed. We are so glad that we chose this home where he was
treated with so much kindness and dignity by all the staff. We were involved and kept up to date at all times on his everyday needs. He did seem as happy as he could be and settled when we visited him most days. He was always very clean and very nicely dressed, and we couldn't have asked for any more. We take great comfort that he spent the last weeks of his life with lovely, caring staff who go over and above what is expected of them. The manager and staff of this home are truly marvelous and we would like to thank you all so much for looking after our Dad.
