View Full Details of The Spinney Care HomeWhen my mother moved to The Spinney a year and a half ago her dementia had begun to take hold of her life and her mood was always, what can only be described as 'flat as a pancake'. She was always a shy person and we were worried how she would cope with her new life. However, from the day she moved in the positive vibe of The Spinney started to work it's magic! She received the most fantastic care from her carers. She engaged with the incredible varied activities programme. My mother loves the food (ate better than she had for decades) and really benefited from her private space (her spotless and pretty en suite room), the friendly lounge (which is a well designed) and the gorgeous garden. My mother is an animal lover and Ruby the cat senses this and sits on her lap when she is in the garden. The combination of all these things means that my mother is now a genuinely relaxed and happy person. As a family we could not ask for more, and visiting her is always a pleasure.
The Spinney care home was recommended by friend who's relative had resided there,It has fully met all of our expectations. The staff are caring, respectful, and very professional. The food is excellent freshly cooked on the premises. Wide variety of entertainment on daily basis. We would throughly recommend the Spinney care home. Our relative is very settled and cared for.
The Spinney staff provide high quality, thoughtful care which always takes the needs of individual residents into consideration. The facilities, food and activities are very good. Staff take time to engage friends and families of the residents and overall the care home has a positive, happy feel.
From the very beginning of my husbands stay, I have received nothing but warmth and cooperation even in those small moments when I have had cause to be concerned and I was always listened to. The toughness of my situation has been hugely helped by the listening ears of the staff generally. The phone line is annoying bug I gather will be improved on. I have also made my own comments to staff regarding close watching of my husband and they have responded even during busy times. Overall I am very pleased with all that is done to look after my dear husbsnd.
My mother has been at the Spinney Care Home for 3 years and in that time I can honestly say I do not have a bad word to say about it. The staff are caring, helpful and completely there for the resident - we visit regularly on a Saturday and the level of care at the weekend is as good as the weekday. One particular carer knows my mother very well and also shows care and compassion to my learning difficulties sister - she goes above and beyond and I find that so special.
Great care home. Carers are very good and management are always available to talk to if there is anything that needs to be discussed. I think the food is the only thing that lets the care home down. It's nicely cooked but portion sizes are small, not enough vegetables at all and no proper hot meal at night. Supermarket bread thst is used for evening sandwiches is low quality. I think the nutritional value of meals are not great and it seems like it is business profit over nutrition.
Mum has been a resident since late 2023, and we know that she is being cared for, and the staff will always let us know if there are any issues with her health, or anything she needs. The Spinney is a lovely home, and the atmosphere is very friendly and caring. Our Mum loves her weekly bingo session and enjoys the visits from local school children.
My mother-in-law has been at The Spinney since early 2021 and we have never had any reason to be unhappy with the care and support she receives. The staff are friendly and caring and are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure residents and their families are treated with kindness and respect. The range of activities available for the residents is excellent and the garden is a joy in the spring/summer. We are so glad we found The Spinney as a place for my mother-in-law to live, close to us and where her dementia-driven needs and behaviours are understood.
Mum has been a resident for over four years now and we know she is in safe hands. The staff all take her welfare seriously and are very kind in their dealings with her, the other residents and visitors. Mum is a great one for misplacing her belongings, such as glasses, necklaces and gloves/hats and many such items have not been found, but this must be a challenge in a care home where most residents have memory issues. The activities on offer for the residents are great with plenty of variety and something for everyone. Mum's physical health has improved over the time she has been a resident, which we attribute to the care, the food, the weekly schedule of entertainment and the company. I would not have my Mum live anywhere else.
My mum has been a resident of The Spinney for over 2 years. The home is well run by a team of caring and approachable, professional people who have shown that they clearly take my mum's welfare seriously and provide the best care for her. I can't recommend The Spinney highly enough.
I couldn't have hoped for a better home for my sister than The Spinney. Not only are all the staff open and caring but they go the extra mile to tailor care for her needs. The management fosters a happy atmosphere for residents and staff and values everyone. The kitchen staff and maintenance team are also amazing. Truly an outstanding care home.
I have found the Spinney a very good home, with a very professional team not just looking after the residents, but really caring for them and their well being. The home provides a complete variety of activities that are well received by the residents. Well done.
The location is peaceful & quiet being opposite a golf course & a forest with only very limited neighbour traffic. The building is modern well maintained & spotlessly clean. The staff are delightful, friendly & professional. No temporary staff. The activities are first-class & imaginative. Also, several interesting varied excursions are made each week out of the home to maintain interest & avoid “cabin fever”. Food is tasty healthy & varied. A very positive & happy ambience radiates from the Spinney. Thank you from a grateful son.
My mother has been a resident since June 2023 and the staff are constantly working to ensure that the residents have everything they need to make their life in The Spinney Care Home a real home. The activities each week are varied and when there is any "special" date (birthdays, bank holidays etc.) the building and public areas are decorated appropriately, with activities and parties to match; friends and family are actively encouraged to come and join in. My mother particularly enjoyed the Christmas party; a glass of "bubbles" and the singer that was booked was superb, mixing songs from residents' youth with some more popular songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The afternoon tea laid on by the chef was properly celebratory - poached salmon and homemade sausage rolls were outstanding. On Christmas Eve, all the residents received a present from Santa and many of the staff gave personal cards out too. This is the most relaxed I have seen Mum for a long time.
My godmother was reluctant to leave her lifelong home but has been very happy at The Spinney. She has been well cared for by staff, made friends with other residents and enjoyed the activities and visits. She especially loves the garden and being able to watch the wildlife from her window. It's lovely that there is a hair salon onsite and the weekly GP visits are very reassuring.
Every thing about The Spinney is wonderful. They have had such a lovely December. Christmas Carols, making decorations, a choir of school children and even real reindeers coming to visit. All the staff seem happy to be working there. My mum seems ten years younger since she has been living there.
Nothing is too much trouble from the staff and carers at The Spinney. As soon as you walk in and sign in there's always a warm welcome in the foyer and staff are aware where your relative is in the home. They provide activities, entertainers and outings on their daily routine. They go out of their way to to fulfil resident special requests whether it's an outing or doing something in the home.
My aunt is eating, drinking and walking so much better. She has a bath and is encouraged to join in activities and make friends. She has been taken out on visits and is enjoying her life here.
Our review doesn’t just cover August 2023, it starts from May 2023, and is going on to this date. From being put in a situation regarding my health, where that caring for Mum now is too much of a struggle and being strongly recommended The Spinney by my cousin whose mother-in-law was in here for I think about 5 and a half to nearly 6 years or thereabouts but sadly who has recently passed away, she suggested we go and have a look, we were always apprehensive thinking about this type of environment, but I must say from our first initial visit, and Mum actually becoming a resident I have found the staff always helpful friendly, on hand, and are a pleasure to deal with, and although Mum is quite a private person and tends to like to be on her own a lot of the time I would like to say she is being made welcome and encouraged to join in but not in a forceful way. Many thanks to The Spinney and the team. Regards and best wishes.
I have only ever seen respect and kindness shown in this wonderful home for my mother-in-law led by a management team who I and our extended family have absolute faith in. It gives us such comfort to know that she really does have the best care possible.
