Calm atmosphere. Plenty of focussed, friendly staff. Manager very approachable and confidence inspiring. The so-called 'Receptionist' is more of a hotel front desk person/concierge than a doorkeeper: helpful to visitors.
George Potter House is not a five star hotel but the facilities seem completely
satisfactory. There is a decent sized garden with plenty of seating for fine weather as well the usual general purpose lounge for communal TV watching, music and activities.
So, how is my elderly and somewhat forgetful friend feeling about being there? It took two or three weeks to acclimatise but now she seems not to have a care in the world - apart from making sure she gets to the dining room promptly for mealtimes!
She used to have carers in her own house looking after the basics but, especially with so much time alone, she was becoming increasingly anxious about everyday life - as well somewhat erratic in her behaviour. She is now noticeablely more relaxed and, it seems, settling in to

I cannot praise this care home enough. After a truly awful experience in a previous care home-where my mother suffered neglect, a fall, and a serious medication error - we were very fortunate to find George Potter House. From day one, my mother began to thrive. The staff go above and beyond in every
way-they are not only professional and caring, but also show genuine kindness and compassion. I want to thank every member of the team-from the nurses and care assistants to the activity coordinators, the kitchen staff, the chef (who took the time to come and speak with me personally about my mother's food intolerances), the cleaning staff, and the admin and reception team-every one of them deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication. I especially want to commend the manager, Lina, who was incredible from day one, always responsive, kind, and caring. She took personal care to hold the room until my mother's transfer was approved. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Since my husband moved to George Potter House, I've seen a real difference in how his challenging behaviour is managed. The staff are highly skilled and use a range of engaging activities to support his cognitive development. They make a genuine effort to include him, ensuring he feels involved and
never isolated. There is always visibility of qualified nurses, which gives me reassurance that any concerns I have can be addressed promptly.
Above all, I truly appreciate the staff's dedication and kindness towards the residents-it makes such a positive difference.

After seeing several homes for my 97 year old mother, we chose George Potter House after a couple of visits and a trial stay. We immediately liked the bright and positive atmosphere in the home, and I was very impressed with the new manager and all the staff I met. Everyone is so friendly and
caring. Despite not initially wanting to go into a care home, my mother has settled in really well and is very happy there after just a few weeks! There is a beautiful big garden and the atmosphere is light and airy throughout (which is also being refurbished). The activity managers are lovely and my mother has regained the will to live and is walking so much more! Care homes are expensive but I'm reassured to know she's in safe hands and being so well cared for by experienced staff. Her room is bright and airy and the home is clean & well organised. The new manager Lina is great and very experienced, and you can see she wants to create a lovely home for everyone. Thank you to everyone, GPH has changed our life!

Brian was refusing to eat and near death. He needed food that he could hold in his hand and that he really liked. But he ate it really slowly. I managed to get him started on bananas. it would take 2 hours to get an insufficient amount of calories into him. He has lost most of his muscle mass. But
we all persevered and the staff took note of what I managed to get him to eat every day. They then added some fortisips to the bananas and Brian started drinking quite a bit of milk. They chased that success and he ended up eating like a horse. Then after 3 months of not moving from his bed I got him to sit up and rock back and forward to exercise his stomach muscles which had done nothing for 3 months. Then he managed to get onto a chair by himself At this point I showed the Lena the manager and she got a massive zimmer frame and got him to stand up and walk with physio. When I heard about it, that was one of the best moments of my life.

Potter House highly enough.

The home is being slowly refurbished so yes, it may seem outdated to some, however, my relative moved from a luxury home to George Potter House and I couldn't be happier. Let's face it what really matters is the care and approachable proactive management that will deal with issues if they arise and
George Potter has an amazing team and management. Any issues are dealt with promptly and improvements are made immediately. The new lounge looks great and I am so happy it has a large accessible garden.

Positive.
Staff quickly respond to all issues. Most staff treated my Dad with dignity. Receptionist staff welcoming & informative. Management was very present & proactive in improving service & staff practice. My father's health & appearance improved greatly whilst at George Potter House. Brilliant
BBQ for residents, family & staff. Food sometimes difficult for my Dad to chew.
Negative - Furnishings very tired looking, a lot of staff changes/lack of transparency in billing & package of care.

My husband and I visited my sister Zohra on December 10, 11 and 12. Living in France, we can, unfortunately, only come 3 or 4 times a year. We first received an extremely warm welcome from the entire team, especially as the 10th was the day when George Potter House offered Christmas lunch to its
residents and their families. Since our last visit in June, we have noticed enormous progress in the way residents are looked after, in the quality of meals and snacks, in the care provided to everyone and in the cleanliness of the house in general. My sister benefited from a renovated room and is cared for by extremely attentive staff. We send our very sincere congratulations to the management and its entire team. We wish them a very happy New Year 2025 and thank them again with all our hearts.

I would just like to congratulate all at George Potter House for the wonderful Christmas lunch and entertainment that was put on for the residents today. It was a joy to see the residents and staff interacting and having a good time. Well done! When my stepfather was admitted to George Potter House
it was for palliative care and he was deemed end of life. I have to commend the care, support and medical treatment that he has received in the past few months which has given him a renewed vigour and he is no longer bed-bound. The manager and all the staff at George Potter House are providing an excellent 5-star service to all the residents.

My husband and I are always happy with how George Potter House cares for Dad. The staff are very patient and caring. All his needs are catered for. We can go in whenever we like.
Plus Dad is happy there.

In for respite. He has dementia and it's the first time in 8 years he has been away. He loved the activities and I feel he was kept quite busy. Everything in the room was fixed and mended and the management was above and beyond what we expected. We will see you again.
12 June 2024
My father was in a care home prior to this one. My father almost lost his life due to staff and management negligence.
I can proudly say today my father is taken care of like a human being. Staff not only amazing at what they do but they go the extra mile to make residents comfortable and happy.
Management is on point. George Potter House is managed well you can simply tell by the quality of service residents receive.
George Potter House should be an example to many.
Thank you.

My lovely mum was a resident at George Potter House from November 2020 until September 2022.
My mum was so well looked after by all the staff at George Potter House. It was a hard decision to make for Mum but I'm so glad she was at this care home. The staff are lovely and kind. Mum was happy which
was so important. The carers are amazing. One carer, in particular, who my mum liked so much. She went above and beyond at all times. All the carers are fantastic.
It's so important to be treated kindly and with respect regardless of what's wrong with a person. The carers did this from day one.
I was kept informed of everything I needed to be kept informed about. I called on a regular basis at all different hours and that was reassuring for me. I visited Mum every week and Mum always looked well looked after and happy.
Fantastic care from when my mum arrived until the end of her life. I'm so grateful for all the care they showed my mum.
They are angels in disguise.

I went to visit my husbands step mother and the lady on the desk was extremely helpful, especially as we had to ring as couldn’t locate the home. The place had a good feel about it. The staff we passed in the corridors were pleasant and greeted us. The home was very clean with no trace of odour. We
found the patient to be well cared for with fresh hair. The room was compact but everything in it tidy and organised. When we left the receptionist advised us where we could get refreshments. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was happy to chat about my step mother. My first impression of George Potter House was of a good environment with highly dedicated and approachable staff.
