View Full Details of Alveston Leys Care HomeWhilst the care and treatment provided by nursing staff is of a good standard the management of this care facility, in my experience, is not. This has had a direct impact on the care and treatment my loved one has received.
Fees - my father has been a resident for several years. In the last 2 years the charges have increased by nearly 25%. This is way ahead of inflation. I work in the care industry & costs have not increased by anything like that amount. No explanation for that level of increase has been given. Food - The quality of the food is very average & could be much better.
Firstly, given Room G6 but no shower and wc and basin difficult to access in wheelchair. Room in need of redecoration, floor unswept and ill fitting door to garden. Complained and moved to Room 213 which was much larger and nicely decorated. There was a wetroom but unfortunately it could not be accessed in a wheelchair and so I had to hoisted in and out. I only had 3 showers (all sitting on the wc) and had to have strip washes also sitting on the toilet. I have to complain that the toilet was very mucky and I had to apologise to visitors who asked to use the facility. Toilet cleaning is not a very nice job but essential. The staff generally were very helpful and caring but the night staff were sometimes rude, brusque and unaccommodating. I had to remind certain members to have a bit more respect for residents. I really did not like being undressed and put to bed by two male staff members and the second time this happened I asked for a female staff member to be present.
My mother has been in this wonderful care home in the pretty village of Alveston for 18 months. All the staff are friendly and professional and there is a lovely atmosphere throughout the home. Mum is very happy here. She enjoys the food and the excellent range of entertainment on offer. I visit once a month as I live some distance away and have complete peace of mind as I know she is being well looked after. I would not hesitate to recommend Alveston Leys care home with it's outstanding facilities and wonderful caring staff.
A lovely care home, wehre all the staff are very friendly yet professional. Husband was very unsure about going into a care home, albeit temporarily. I can in all honesty say he did more in 5 days in the home than he had for 5 years at home! This is simply down to the staff, gently encouraging him to get out of his room and try different activities. There can be no higher praise to give to a brilliant, caring and helpful home.
Our elderly Mum was admitted to Alveston Leys Care Home from Warwick Hospital for continuing care towards her end of life in March 2025. Mum was a resident for just over a week which was her prognosis, and i can honestly say that Alveston Leys was exceptional on so many things that are important for anyone going into care and their family as visitors. The friendly and professional staff, the positive team atmosphere, the lovely location, the care and authenticity, and the quality and hygiene of the whole care home was a joy and a privilege to appreciate in these moments of need. I would highly recommend Alveston Leys and the nursing team there.
Today was mums 102nd birthday and l want to thank everybody at Alveston Leys for making this such a memorable event. All mums friends and relatives had a ball and enjoyed the entertainment and food. Thanks you so much for making mums day so special.
Fantastic atmosphere, great coffee and wonderful care showed to my cherished brother.
My mum attended her first bus trip out to the Country Park. She was worried about participating due to bowel issues, when she gets constipated, she has to have a laxative; the consequence of which is embarrassing for my mum. On the way home from the day out, which she thoroughly enjoyed a bowel issue occurred. The home was called and told what had gone on with mum, so as soon a she arrived back at the care home she was taken in and changed without any fuss or delay or any knowledge to my mum that this had been done in advance. I only found out about this the other day and was so grateful this had been handled in such a caring and dignified way. Thank you.
I have just spent two weeks in this lovely care home as a respite patient. I cannot fault the care I received from the very kind and dedicated staff. Nothing was too much trouble for whoever was on duty. I thought it was very efficiently run by the team. Every afternoon there was some entertainment which passed the day very happily. The food was the sort I liked and always a change of menu. I would highly recommend this care home.
The staff at Alveston Leys go above and beyond for my grandmother. She is always well cared for, taken on days out and shown the utmost respect by all employees at the home. My Grandmother is especially fond of the senior activity coordinator who has made her time at the home fun and given her something to keep living for! (She is 101)! The home is clean, calm, warm, inviting and exceptionally friendly! There is nowhere else we would want her and we are eternally grateful for all their hard work and care. To us they are all family now! Also special mention to another staff member who is amazing!
Alveston Leys Care Home provides constant and loving care both day and night. It treats residents with dignity, respect and love which never fails. The home is very relaxed and allows residents to put their own identity into it. It constantly takes into account residents' wishes and accommodates what they want to do. Entertainment is very varied, almost continuously on hand and is delivered lovingly and excellently. The care home offers busy, social areas alongside quiet peaceful spaces and there is never a time when any resident cannot indulge in what they want to do. In my opinion, this care home is absolutely outstanding in the love, care and consideration that it delivers. On top of this, it is consistently professional and understanding of a resident's medical needs. I could not be more happy with this home! I am the daughter of a resident and visit the home daily. All staff, from managers to caretakers are very polite, helpful and absolutely lovely to both myself and my mum.
Dad was admitted to Alveston Leys on the 6th of August and spent four weeks there for respite. When he went in he was quite poorly, weak, and not eating very well. I cannot thank the staff at the home enough. They were so kind and thoughtful and very respectful. Everyone I met was so obviously dedicated to helping the residents feel comfortable, safe, and happy. He was given excellent meals each day and encouraged to walk as and when he felt able and this improved his strength and mobility. He was very happy during his time there and has now moved back home. He is booked in for two weeks in October while his help is away on holiday.
Good continuing care for my sister who is bedridden and always in terrible pain, despite good medical care too provided by a local GP surgery working with the Home. Her needs are quite intense and with only a couple of other people visiting her in addition to myself, everything has to be thought through - she loves a biscuit treat!
Generally splendid, my Mum is responding well to the social interface and activities. The nursing staff there did well in considering her medicines and have an excellent relationship with the GP.
After Mum coming to Alveston Ley in January, I have been continuously more than happy with the care she gets. She is very happy, less stressed and enjoying life! Everyone is treated with total respect and smiles are abundant on faces! On a personal note, I feel so grateful knowing that Mum is safe, happy and content. Nothing is too much, I really enjoy visiting Mum and meeting her new friends, it's a real joy.
My father stayed for two weeks and in his own words, has had an excellent time while here. Staff have been so good, nothing was too much trouble in any way and asking to come back in summer.
Food, suggest reviewing the menu in order to provide five a day of fruit or veg. Very stodgy food. Also, lack of vegetarian food. Room, strange not to have a wash basin in the bathroom. Staff are all very kind and patient.
As a retired nurse like Mum we both can tell good enough care from really good. Alveston Leys care staff and indeed all staff provide a kind, caring environment and I never thought I'd say Mum is happy in a care home, she certainly is. The range of activities offered is great, my son says it's like a country hotel at A. Leys. Recently all staff went the extra mile after Dad died to help Mum with her grief and on the day of his funeral. Thank you so much.
Alveston Leys Care Home continue to provide a comfortable safe environment for my sister. The staff are always friendly and easy to interact with and in spite of the inconsistent support of NHS maintain an effective care regime.
