View Full Details of Barchester Wykeham House Care HomeGood man supporting well. Played scrabble game. Nick from maintenance makes you feel well cared for. Excellent man and supporter.
Came to visit old friend. Care home excellent welcome from reception staff. Home clean & staff very welcoming & smiling. Was offered refreshments at coffee time when seeing my friend. Music playing in reception area & residents singing along lovely to see.
Noted various bruises from June to October 2025 on wife's body that are unexplained, Shirley is mainly always in bed unless I arrive and prompt staff to relocate her to dining or sitting room but mainly my requests are not met for various reasons, this leads to her getting depressed & frustrated, she is taking antidepressants which she has not taken in the past.
Wykeham house is a great care home. Our father has been a resident for just over a month now and we are really amazed by the huge improvement in him. The care and attention he receives is fantastic and highly recommend them. All the staff are great with the residents and so accommodating to family and friends that visit. Our dad wasn't coping very well when living at home with care but since he has been with the team at Wykeham house, he has really started to show a big improvement and looks and sounds a bit more like our dad again. It's all down to the great care he has been provided so thank you from all of us.
A lovely home, caring and very attentive my mother is well looked after and I am very happy with her care. It makes us feel very assured that she is getting the best care, and we are grateful to be able to have her in this home.
A lovely care home, its in lovely beautiful grounds, all the staff are always happy to see us, always happy to help in any situations, my relative in there is really happy, and is always included in any activities that they want to do, overall a happy vibes place
Absolutely fabulous care home. Honestly feels like a home from home. They have taken the time to get to know my mum and us even though she has only been here a short while. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The home itself is clean and well looked after. The meals look very appetising and my mum enjoys them.
The staff are exceptionally helpful, nothing is too much trouble. When you enter the home there's a coffee room, this is all free with fresh cake baked each day in-house. My mum has been here two years now, after being in another home in South London. I'm so pleased with the progress she's made and her happiness, her previous home was dreadful in every way. The staff go the extra mile and the visitors and relatives are all made to feel welcome. This home has two activities ladies that really think outside the box with endless enthusiasm, they do bingo, quizzes and so much more, taking the residents out into the community pantomimes and such like. I joke with Mum that I will move in. The nursing staff and carers are lovely, friendly and approachable. Thank you for all your care.
Wykeham House is a very good care home that my father is fortunate to be in. The staff are very attentive and supportive both with the residents and family/guests. They will go out of their way to help with special occasions and other needs. The manager is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful making time for you whenever needed. Activities and events are aimed more at the female residents who seem to enjoy them, unfortunately my father does not get involved. The food has been below expectations for a long time now and would be the only real sore point for us.
Since my parents came to live in Barchester Wykeham House Care Home in February 2024, it has given me and my family a calm and sense they are safe and looked after. Today, a summer bash was lovely, residents and families joining together and having fun. Amazing staff, especially the event organiser and bubbly, smiley lady on reception (at weekends).
General visiting of a relative. - The food at the fete was good but I do not feel that a budget of £6.60 a day is sufficient when I need to spend £10 a day on my own food. Good nutritious food is essential. We pay £7500 per month for care.
I recently had surgery and as I live on my own I didn't want to come home to an empty house so I booked myself into Wykeham House for a week. I found it very comfortable and friendly with a family feel about it. All the carers were excellent and I did have a few minor problems which were dealt with very speedily. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. It took away my anxiety of looking after myself.
This Christmas was lovely for my father, with much more care from the activities team who knew my father well when choosing gifts. The home looked beautiful with Christmas decorations. The year before was very poor. Since the new activity team has brought a lot to the home through the year who came in March 2023, you can see how much the girls enjoy what happens.
In my experience, Wycombe House is a warm homely place, the staff are amazing, from the receptionists through to all the care staff, and the activity staff, who are very caring. Also, able to have a laugh and a good chat too! The food always looks nice, got to be the best home around!
It's my first experience being in a care home. I'm very pleased. Thank you.
Mum was in your care from April 2022 and we were very happy with her care there from all the staff and they were very good at making sure someone was with her constantly in her last hours. We, as a family, would not hesitate to recommend Wykeham House.
My husband, who has Alzheimer's and Lewy Bodies Dementia has been at Wykeham House since May 2022. The staff, from every department, are wonderful with him. He is treated with kindness, love and great respect. All (whether working on his floor or not) know his name, will listen to his chatter no matter how busy they are and, if the music gets his feet tapping, give him a little dance. There are many activities which he is encouraged to join, regular visiting entertainers and trips out in the minibus. The atmosphere is one of peace and calm. I know he is safe and happy there and cannot praise everyone enough for the care that he is being given.
For the last few months, my husband has been a resident, unexpected admission but I cannot fault the care we have both received. The friendliness of all staff, care and expertise is obvious. Not an easy decision to place someone but made easier by all staff.
Every member of staff play their part in the care for the residents. Not only did they provide outstanding care for my grandmother, they looked after us too, especially on those difficult visits and during her end-of-life care. We are so pleased she spent her last three years of life in such a happy, engaging and caring home.
My dad had been with Barchester Wykeham House Care Home for a few months. The friendliest and most warmest staff ever. They made him feel very welcome right from the start and he loved going out on the day trips. When Dad passed away, I rushed to be with him and the peaceful beautiful surroundings I encountered made everything so easy to deal with. Two staff were lying with him, holding his hands together with mood lighting and music. Just beautiful. Thank you Wykeham House. It's been a pleasure.
