My friend was admitted to Westerleigh Residential Home in December 2025, and from day one was treated with kindness, compassion and dignity. The staff ensured that all her needs were met. After a short stay in hospital, she returned to Westerleigh to be nursed with TLC and the best care until she
sadly passed away in April 2026. To all the staff, I will be forever grateful for their kindness and compassion shown to my dear friend in her last few months. Thank you, and remember, "you made a difference"

My dad has been here about 7 weeks and have no complaints at all. Staff are amazing, cannot do enough for him, anything he needs is never a bother. Staff are always in and around if needed.Always asking if he wants drinks or warm enough. Room is kept clean and tidy at all times.

When you visit Westerleigh care home you are always greeted warmly by the staff and find yourself in a building which is sparkling. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. There are photos in the dining room to show the residents what they can choose each mealtime, a great benefit for Alzheimer
sufferers. I would like to mention Janice, the cook, as she is wonderful and encourages relatives to share a meal with their loved ones. She also made sure I didn't leave the home for Durham University hospital on an empty stomach, during an emergency for my sister. I chose Westerleigh care home rather than the hospital when my sister needed palliative care as I knew she would receive empathy, love and kindness fro the carers. I have never doubted that I made the right choice. I can thoroughly recommend Westerleigh care home to anyone who is looking for loving care for their loved ones. They will not be disappointed with their choice.

My wife was accepted at Westerleigh from our home as at our age trying to care for my wife was very hard. From the first day coming to the home we were looked after very good and made at ease, and my wife seemed to excel and come back to me after what she went through.

Even during a difficult initial settling-in period, my mother had nothing but good things to say about all of the staff, such as, "They're all lovely, and there's nothing any of them wouldn't do for you". Her care seems to be well coordinated and planned, and she is starting to look like her usual
happy self, particularly enjoying the 'entertainment/social' events. The home is welcoming to relatives and visitors and generally has a positive and open feeling to it. Fixtures and fittings may be a little in need of refurbishment, but the overall efforts of the staff to make the residents comfortable and happy help to override seeing this.

I would like to express my gratitude for the care, dignity and affection that Westerleigh staff gave to my dad as he went through his end-of-life pathway. I was kept included in the decision made to keep my dad as comfortable as possible, and watched how they promptly called district nurses to
ensure he had the necessary medication to keep him comfortable. They continued to interact with my dad in a lovely manner and stayed with him as he passed away. They bathed and dressed my dad in the clothes I had laid out for him. I am thankful for the care staff gave my dad throughout his stay at Westerleigh, and in particular when he passed. The home has a lovely atmosphere.

I do believe that Westerleigh Residential Home is as good as it gets. I've been married for 56 years and I'm confident that she could not have better care. I can rest easy knowing she's in safe and caring hands.

This is a home in a 'real sense'. It's one big family, they don't have patients or residents, everybody knows each other, staff, nurses, cleaners, managers, residents and the visitors. The staff miss nothing and keep track of everything but it isn't like a hospital, it's just like a 'home'!

Mam came into care and the care has been exceptional. Everyone is so friendly towards all the family. Nothing is a problem to them and go beyond themselves to make Mam settled.
The manageress is fantastic to point of decorating Mam's room to help Mam settle more. As she's finding the move into care
hard and frustrating as she has dementia.
I would recommend Mam's care home to anyone who is wanting their loved ones to be cared for.

My mother has always been looked after well. At times of trouble, the care home has always communicated closely with me and my sister, and I feel she is safe at the care home and have no hesitation in saying she is well looked after. Staff always communicate any changes in behaviour and routines
well. My mother is happy as she can be at the care home.

Generally seems very good, but noticed a couple of things. Care nurse came with us when visiting Aunty. I'd bought her some paints and brushes. Care nurse said she would do it with Aunty and when I revisited, nothing had been done. She can't read or even watch TV so I thought that painting might
give her an interest. I'm disappointed no one has sat with her to do it with her.

This is the fourth care home my mother has been in in the last 18 months, granted two of those were for rehab after falls. Of all four care homes - this is the only one she has settled into and feels safe, comfortable and happy.

My mam has been in your care since June 2024 after being discharged from Auckland Park Hospital. She has had her moments in your care and I am very happy with the hospitality she is receiving. Everything from meals to activities. I realize she is a difficult person, has a short temper (always has).
Lashes out, throws things and can get very argumentative at times. All the staff I have met in the home are brilliant - I can't fault them. She had a few issues and I received calls every time, emergency services called sometimes taken through to the hospital - I was informed. The Care and Compassion of the staff is second to none. Even Elvis Pressley is entertaining the residents.

My uncle has been in Westerleigh for nearly a year. He's happy, content and well looked after. He's been falling a little recently and the staff are going out of their way to make sure he is cared for and most importantly safe. All of the staff, without exception, are brilliant, I cannot praise them
enough. Thank you!

Pleased with the care my mother receives, she is well looked after, very good communication between myself and the staff, nothing is a bother, the staff are very friendly, if she needs any medical assistance they ring the GP or community matron straight away to make sure she is seen to asap.
