Choosing a care home for Mum was, without doubt, one of the most difficult tasks the family has had to undertake. Knowing that Mum could not engage with the process only amplified the sense of responsibility felt. Likewise Mum cannot write this review for herself and neither I nor any other family
member can stand in her shoes when doing so.
Nevertheless, more than 2 years since Mum became a resident at Glen Rosa and more than a year since Mum moved in to Kitwood, what I can do (and what I feel I must do) is give an unqualified and heartfelt "thank you" to all of the staff who have looked after Mum and continue to do so in an exemplary way. As a family we can see and appreciate the quality of care Mum receives day-in and day-out. For my part, I particularly value engagement by staff that treats Mum as you would a "friend" whose habits and foibles are recognised and understood.

My mother has been a resident in Glen Rosa for 7 years now, and continues to be very well looked after by the excellent staff there. The staff really care about the residents, and I am repeatedly touched by the way they look after my mum. There are a lot of activities arranged, even in Kitwood which
is the dementia section of Glen Rosa). My mother even got up and danced at a recent music session! I would have no hesitation in recommending Glen Rosa to anyone looking for a good residentail home.

Dad says that the staff provide good care and are friendly and helpful. The home appears to be clean and tidy with a good level of staffing. His only complaint (hence 4 stars rather than 5) is the food not being that great particularly anything involving pastry which he finds hard and difficult to
cut through. However he has put weight on since moving in so is definitely eating enough and appears healthy.

My 77year old husband has been living in Glen Rosa for 11 months. He settled in to his new home (upon discharge from Hospital), very well and easily due to the incredible support of all the staff.
Myself and our 2 daughters couldn't possibly think more highly of Glen Rosa. All family members
who visit are made to feel very welcome.

My husband spent two weeks in respite care at Glen Rosa in April, 2026.
He was treated with kindness and dignity, loved the food and activities. The staff went out of their way to make him comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. His room was warm and spotlessly clean.
As his wife and
living nearby, I was welcome to spend quality time with him. It meant a lot.

I have nothing but praise for the care that my husband is receiving. All the staff are lovely caring people.
All his needs are being fulfilled with care and compassion.
I am always kept up to date with his care and the staff are very supportive with me.

My Stepmum has been a resident in the Dementia section of Glen Rosa for nearly two years now, and settled well into what is a lovely , safe, warm and caring environment. As my sister and I both live overseas, we were concerned that we find the right home for our mum, as our visits are limited.
There is a high standard of cleanliness and catering and a good selection of activities and stimulation for the residents. The staff are all friendly and attentive and provide the care and support that we needed to be sure of for our mums wellbeing.

My Dad is a resident and has been for several years. He is really well looked after and has everything he needs.
The staff are fantastic and provide care, activities and support which makes my dad feel safe and secure and engaged with those around him.
Rachel and Adam run the place really well
and all staff are kind, patient and understanding.
He is healthier, happier and better looked after than he has been for years.

My mother-in-law was provided with exemplary care in Glen Rosa for teh last 5 years. She settled quickly and spent her final days peacefully. Admin and care staff treated her and us with compassion and care. Thank you so much for looking after her so well. We had complete confidence in you.

I enjoy volunteering at Glen Rosa. All staff are attentive to the needs & wishes of residents. I am in most weeks for a couple of hours, there are regular & varied activities throughout the year. Residents are treated with care, kindness, respect & dignity. There are places for rest, places for
games & play & social times. The house is comfortable & a nice place to visit for a relative - there are always biscuits! Everyone says hello when I come in & asks how I am. I am given training to keep residents & myself safe as I work. I know when I a\sk for help, the staff will respond. There is lovely garden for sensory experiences & for residents to care for.

My husband has been a resident at Glen Rosa, Ilkley since April this year and my overall impression is how kind and caring all the staff are. They joke with him and always have a word for him in passing. He is in Kitwood and especially enjoys the railway carriage and going on train journeys. He also
enjoys watching sport on the large tablet. The music therapy is also much appreciated. He seems contented and settled and enjoys frequent visits from our family and grandchildren who live opposite Glen Rosa and the children are always welcomed by the staff, as am I. As I live very close by too, I can enjoy quality time most days so think I would know if he was unhappy. He also enjoys the food which seems to be very good, if rather on the sweet side! He is treated with dignity and kindness, and I am very happy with the care he is receiving.

Dad settled in surprisingly quickly at Glen Rosa which came as a huge relief to the family as he was always adamant he would not go into residential care.
He's been a resident for almost 3 years now and we've never looked back.
The staff retention is excellent. Most of the staff have been there
many years and they have built up a very good rapport with Dad who enjoys the banter and attention.
Dad can, on occasions, be a little tetchy if he's not feeling 100% but the staff have got to know him so well that they know exactly what to do in those situations, which is very reassuring.
The staff and management are all very approachable, professional and totally "on the ball".
The home is spotless and the en-suite bedrooms are of a high standard.
Meals are made from scratch. There is a good choice, including a vegetarian option and it all looks very appetising.
There's always something going on in terms of activities and various groups visiting to entertain the residents.
Highly recommended!

My Dad has been in Glen Rosa for over 4 years now and during that time the care and respect he has received has been exemplary. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and their caring commitment towards the residents (and vistors too) - there is always a friendly atmosphere and the staff are both
approachable and helpful. The food has always been enjoyed very much by my Dad and what I've seen of it looks very nice. The facilities too are to my mind first class, particularly the 'quiet lounge' which I recently discovered & which is a lovely room, decorated & furnished to be calm & relaxing. Overall, I would not want my Dad to be anywhere else than Glen Rosa - I know that I can rely on him being looked after with dignity, respect and professionalism to the highest possible standard.

My sister lived in Glen Rosa for about 3 years until she passed away. I have been very impressed by the patience and efficiency of the staff. All residents are treated with dignity and more than that, with tender loving care.
03 June 2025
The main element is the feeling that my father is cared about. Everyone including management, maintenance, carers, cleaners and laundry ladies seem to care.
Whilst the building is old and in need of some TLC, steps are being taken to improve this.

The team in Kitwood, Glen Rosa, are exceptionally kind and caring towards my aunt. They understand her as an individual and appreciate her personality, drivers and triggers. The atmosphere is respectful and calm, with stimulation provided through regular activities and interactions with staff.
Having the opportunity to spend time outside in the garden, when the weather allows, feels very important. My aunt's room is kept very clean, her clothes are regularly laundered and meal times offer alternatives to suit different appetites. I find that communication is generally really good, and have peace of mind that any issues will be highlighted and acted upon.

My mum has lived at Glen Rosa for three years. She continues to enjoy life there and has made many friends both residents and carers. A lot of the carers have been there since her arrival so know her well. There are activities provided for the residents to join in with should they wish to and my mum
is always the one getting up to dance! I would recommend Glen Rosa to anyone seeking care for an elderly relative, it has a warm and homely feel to it. The food is also excellent.
12 December 2024
My mother passed away in Glen Rosa after nearly six years in residence with excellent care to the very end. The kindness and understanding shown to both my mother and myself, made her loss more bearable as all the staff cared for us like one big family.
27 June 2024
My friend has been a resident at Glen Rosa for 18 months and has settled happily. I have always found the staff to be friendly, professional and helpful and feel very happy that my friend is safe and well cared for. There are a lot of varied activities and trips out and Glen Rosa has a lovely
homely atmosphere with beautiful views of the garden and moors beyond. Meals are prepared freshly, on-site and menus vary. I would be extremely happy to recommend Glen Rosa.
27 June 2024
My parents moved into Glen Rosa a couple of months ago after much research, several viewings and a lot of soul-searching. The first thing I noticed on viewing Glen Rosa was how attentive and kind the staff are. My opinion hasn't changed apart from the fact that my respect for the staff has grown.
The rooms are pleasant and kept lovely and clean. The only downside I have is a personal one and I would prefer the lounge seating to be in small groups round coffee tables as opposed to round the edge of the room.
That being said, my parents seem to have settled in faster than I expected and are well cared for and happy. What more can I ask?
