View Full Details of Fir VillaMy Mum's dementia journey has been difficult and it is not over yet. But throughout I have been full of praise for the way she has been cared for at Fir Villa. They are sensitive and always supportive to the family's struggles to deal with the disease as it changes and time goes on. Mum was always very independent and strong-willed so I know she has been difficult at times, but they always speak of her and to her with the utmost respect. The atmosphere throughout the years I have been visiting has remained of a caring, busy and well-run home. It has always been warm, clean and welcoming. I will be eternally grateful that I found such a place for my Mum.
Fir Villa is providing a very high level of care for our family member who is suffering from advanced vascular dementia. Permanently bed bound and requiring 24 hour care she has all her needs met by the home's caring team of dedicated staff. She remains clean, comfortable and well fed, and is physically well despite her loss of mental capacity. Sometimes she becomes confused and distressed but the staff are incredibly kind and understanding and are able to give the reassurance she requires. We have no concerns about the level of care she receives and feel she could not be in a better place. Thank you Fir Villa.
My nan came in to Fir Villa care in septemeber last year and sadly passed away a few weeks ago but the support and the service she received was truly brilliant they gave her the best care and couldnt have asked for a better care home for my nan they went above and beyond for nan and we cant thank them enough for there hard work ! They also treated us like family i would 100% recommend
Since my sister entered fir villa in 2024 she has been happier than the family have seen her in a long while. The care she is receiving is top class from each and every member of staff. She mostly enjoys the music and craft that the staff organise., also the days out. My sister suffers from early stage dementia and learning difficulties so putting her somewhere where she could be properly looked after was a problem until we found Fir Villa. We as a family are happy to see her happy and well looked after. I ring to find out how she is if i cannot get to see her and often get to talk to her on the phone.
My Mother who suffers from Dementia has been at Fir Villa since February. The home is nicely maintained and benefits from attractive gardens which a few residents are begining to take advantage of as Summer arrives. The food is exceedingly good and staff try to cater for differing tastes. In general the staff are all cheerful and accomodating and go out of their way to treat visitors and patients thoughtfully and with kindness and good humour. So far as my Mothers is concerned they have endeavoured to do their best for her health and welfare. In all an excellent environment.
My cousin suffered from dementia and was a resident in Fir Villa from September 2018 until her death last month. I cannot praise the Manager and the staff for the care and attention they gave her even if she could be awkward at times. I live in Kent so was not able to visit as much as I would have liked also with COVID when I phoned the staff were always happy to give me an update on her progress. I would highly recommend Fir Villa to relatives of people with dementia
Fir Villa is my elderly relative's home. She has dementia but she is very able to voice what she likes and dislikes and she likes her home. She refers to Fir Villa as 'my home' and that was something I never thought I would hear. She tells me she is very happy. She likes the staff because they are kind, friendly and helpful. They are always welcoming when I visit and they smile. She likes the food, 'plenty of good vegetables'. She is always joining in with the activities. I can see she is well cared for but also see she is relaxed and happy. I couldn't wish for a more professional, warm and friendly environment for her.
I visited this lovely home recently to catch up with a distant relative. I was greeted and welcomed warmly by a member of staff who showed me to where my relative was and immediately offered us refreshments. The home was beautifully decorated and clean, there were fresh flowers everywhere. All the residents I saw were happy and smiling and joining in with the afternoon activities which were being led by an enthusiastic and clearly brilliant, talented and imaginative coordinator. My cousin was so engaged in the activity, she hardly noticed I was there which is how it should be. Staff did offer us the option to go somewhere more private but I felt so welcomed into the activity group I was happy to stay and join in. All the staff I encountered seemed happy and professional but spent time with residents just chatting. When I left, I felt reassured that my cousin was content, well cared for and most importantly happy. I have visited several homes in the past but have never been so impressed.
Whilst my mother is more than satisfied with the care that she receives at the facility, the food is disgusting requiring food packages to be sent. My mother appreciates the empathy of her care givers and also the fact that they brought animals on the grounds, such as sheep and donkeys and also they allow my sister to bring in her Labradoodle !!
