View Full Details of ElmwoodI am a frequent visitor and I am impressed with the staff and management how quick to sort out anything that may arise with my mother. My wife and I appreciate all the hard work everyone puts in to looking after their residents.
This care home is fantastic, my dad is very well cared for. The whole team of staff work well in looking after his care and medical needs. They have a pastoral care team who visit and chat with my dad and also support families and residents. We love all the activities and celebrations they hold here.
We were very pleased to secure a place at Elmwood for mum on her discharge from hospital. We were very happy with the excellent care given there, which allowed mum to continue to recover & improve her mobility. Although she initially found it hard to settle, staff were very caring & supportive to us as a family through this period. At this time there were a lot of very unwell residents, so activities were not so evident, that would be my only concern.
My husband entered Elmwood nursing home on 28th June 2024 he was very agitated & did not take kindly to being looked after he thought he could do it all himself, but with very gentle care & patience the staff were able to help him understand they were there to help & assist him in all he tried to do. I cannot praise the staff enough. The whole staff from top to bottom are the best I have ever encountered. The en-suite rooms are always very clean & tidy, good food , upper most was the dignity given to each resident. Plenty of activities but Not compulsory residents choice. This is the home that didn't give up on him.
Mum has been at Elmwood for about 2 years now. She has recently started having palliative care. When she was taken into hospital in January our family was told that she had days and at best weeks to live. Mum returned to Elmwood and because of the amazing care she has received she is still with us. So we as a family would like to say a big thank you.
In the few months that my mother has been at Elmwood, she has improved both mentally and physically. She has settled so much better than we imagined. She is well cared for by the kind, attentive and caring staff. Staff make an effort to care for each individual's needs with dignity and respect. She likes the food. The residents have daily activities, which they can join in with if they want to. We as a family have always been warmly welcomed, as have her friends. The home has recently had a makeover making it light and bright and her room is kept spotless. I feel the home to be well-led with the managers having a close working relationship with all members of staff, carers and nurses.
Dad went into Elmwood for respite in March 2024. He came home but then realised his needs were far better met in Elmwood than carers at home. He eventually went back into Elmwood in June 2024 and I am relieved seeing how he is being looked after. The staff all go above and beyond for him and there's always a warm welcome upon entering Elmwood.
My relative is well cared for medically and physically. As he has a learning disability we arrange extra suitable activities for him, these are made welcome by the home. The staff generally excellent and the manager very helpful.
My husband has been in Elmwood nursing home for just over two years, in the final stages of Parkinson's Disease. He has always been very well cared for. The care staff are helpful, sympathetic and always professional.
I just want to say a massive (belated) ‘thank you’ to all the lovely, hard-working and caring staff at Elmwood who took excellent care of my father for almost a year until his unfortunate passing at the end of August. We all really appreciate the highly professional attitude and caring nature of the staff who truly do their best for the residents and treat them as individuals. They always kept us updated about my father’s health and other needs and made all visitors feel welcome. What we really appreciated was how they showed such kindness and compassion in my dad’s final days and enabled us to spend as much time with him as possible and treated all of us with such dignity, which we will be forever grateful for. I know my father certainly appreciated the care he received from all the wonderful staff.
Helpful staff, a lot goes on behind the scenes.
Sadly we lost our dearest auntie in June this year. She lived at Elmwood from 2016 - her passing. The home is amazing. The staff go above and beyond all duties of care and make you feel like one big family. The quality of the life my auntie had at Elmwood was amazing and since day one she loved all the activity and all the staff. As a family, we 100 % recommend Elmwood to anyone who needs support for their loved ones or support for themself. Even though my auntie has passed away we are still invited to join still with events at the home and we are welcome any time to visit the other residents who knew my auntie and the staff. Today the home put on a tea party in memory of my auntie and other residents spoke about her and staff spoke about her and it was a great tribute to her memory.
It is excellent here, and my brother is well looked after. He is receiving the best care in Elmwood. The staff are so nice, friendly and very helpful.
Very pleased with the treatment and care.
My Mum passed away on 13th December 2021. After fantastic care for four and half years by Elmwood nursing home, suffering from Dementia. Her time at Elmwood was fantastic every member of staff knew her by name. As well as knowing her character, and needs through and through. They also took the time to know us. As her family, we were welcome as often as we wished, and for as long as we wished to stay. We were also able to have meals with her if wished, we took advantage of this and had a Christmas meal with her. Which was lovely. Since mum passed I have been able to keep in contact with Elmwood staff who make me feel welcome, each time I visit, which gives me calmness, as well as friendship.
You couldn't wish for better staff. They are kind, considerate and very patient. The care is out of the world. Staff make time for you and they give me lots of feedback about my mum and it's very comfortable. Management and administration are superb and keep me informed every time. They treat my mum and me like true people. Thank you.
Elmwood is a lovely caring environment for my mother. She needs a lot of intense care and Elmwood provide that with a smile. She is very happy there. We would not hesitate in recommending the home. Always welcoming.
All is good, thank you.
It's impossible for any care home to give full-time attention to every individual, but within that constraint, the standard of care is very high. The manager prioritises "caring" staff when recruiting, and it shows. Also, it's noticeable that Elmwood is prepared to pay for agency staff to maintain staffing levels. The outstanding feature of the home is a "listening" culture, being receptive to any request or comment and thereby heading off problems. I have also overheard staff praising the home's manager, which doesn't happen in every organisation!
My Mother became a resident of Elmwood Nursing Home following a spell in hospital in October 2021. When mum arrived in Elmwood mum was very poorly but thanks to the dedicated nursing and personal care that mum received mum made a remarkable recovery. It would be difficult to overstate the appreciation that my family and I feel about the care that our mum receives on a daily basis. All of the staff provide kindly loving care and Elmwood has become the conduit of family care that has made all of us feel reassured that our mum is being so well cared for. Elmwood is a nursing home in the true sense of the word providing inclusively managed care combined with pastoral support and provided in a clinically clean environment. The staff come from a diversly rich mixture of backgrounds yet they all share the same common ethos of dedication and human kindness that resonates throughout the home. We are fortunate to have a place for our mum in such a wonderfully managed, caring home.
