View Full Details of Deerswood LodgeMy mum moved here a few months ago, previously being in a private Care Home for 2 years. We were really worried that the move would have a negative effect on her Dementia, infact the opposite has happened, Mum is settled very quickly, she is happy & content, enjoys the activities, loves having her own bathroom, cannot praise her carers enough. My sister & I are extremly happy with the care given
The Entertainments guy Michael was today gently leading one of the residents , I think her name is Joan by her hand around the ground floor EMI unit and gardens talking and being a kind friend , he has lots of patience is always smiling and is great at entertaining and putting on a great show and sing sling which the advanced Demrntia residents noticeably enjoy , keep up the entertainments more and some Pet therapy and visits would be good . The majority of the staff on the Dementia ground floor are patient and take time with their residents
I have been here for 3 years, and I like the attitude of staff, they have a relaxed manner at all times. All departments are approachable and helpful. I had a birthday special 100th and they made it so wonderful for me, my birthday cake was fantastic, so beautiful. Deerswood has changed my expectations of living in a home.
A warm, secure unit that offers my mum the care and support she needs, doing what would otherwise be a very difficult solution if she didn't reside here. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and I would recommend Deerswood without hesitation.
My grandma has fitted in extremely well, and the staff have made her feel welcome and at ease. The staff communicate effectively with us and my grandma. The care and support she receives has brought a smile to her face again.
My mum, Ann, moved in to Deerswood in early summer 2024. At the time, she was depressed, anxious, and angry about her lot in life. She had just spent 3 months in another care home and the experience wasn't a happy one. She was hesitant to say the least to move to Deerswood, which was further away from her home in Hassocks. Fast forward nearly 18 months and my mum is a changed person. She is about as content and settled as she has been in over a decade. Along with a change in her medication, this positive change in her has been down to the supportive, welcoming and calm environment at Deerswood. I honestly couldn't be happier with the care and attention that my mum receives from every member of staff at Deerwood. It really is a joyous place, and I am always greeted with a smile and a hello by everybody whenever I visit. My mum has found a community and "her tribe" at Deerswood, and it has transformed her outlook on life. I would thoroughly recommend Deerswood to anybody.
My mum has been a full-time resident at Deerswood Lodge for over a year now. During this time we have found the staff and management to be kind and supportive. They keep us informed of any changes to her health and personal needs. We are always made to feel welcome and it's lovely to see the familiar friendly faces, who work very hard to help mum with her care, it is truly appreciated. Mum enjoys sitting in the lounge with the company of the other residents. Her appetite has really improved with the lovely meals, snacks and cups of teas. The staff really did an amazing job putting on another wonderful summer party this year, we all really enjoyed the tea and cakes and wheelbarrow flower displays. Mum particularly enjoyed the local choir, they were Brilliant! Thanks again for all that you do.
The care my mother receives was very good. Staff great. Nice room. The whole place is very good. I would recommend the home.
My father is a resident now after a stay of respite since March 25. My father absolutely loves living at Deerswood and has a great time taking part in the activities they provide. The staff are amazing, friendly and extremely helpful and caring. The management have selected a great team to look after the residents at a very high standard, and they go above and beyond. We couldn't wish for a better place for our dad.
Wow great day at the summer fair. Was so good to see that mum was taken outside to the garden. She was tapping her feet and moving to the music. Thank you everyone that took the time and made the effort to get her there, we really appreciate the time and care you give our mum.
Visited the home today to see my friend's dad, the home had a lovely friendly atmosphere, I received a warm welcome, it was nice to see the residents in the communal areas enjoying an activity. The home has some lovely gardens for them to see and spend time in, my friend's dad is very happy.
I visited my father-in-law who is living with Alzheimer's. It was great to see him and the other residents happy and enjoying an activity. I always receive a warm and friendly welcome and it gives my wife and I peace of mind knowing he is well cared for. The staff are always so helpful and the home environment is clean and well-maintained.
Deerswood Lodge Care Home is multi-cultural. Our manager from when she first came said '"Remember this is your home". Her reassuring words meant a lot. When COVID and lockdowns happened, the home stayed positive. When we came out of the EU, food and commercial goods became very costly or unavailable. The two staff have many activities available, one is gardening, a lot of wheelbarrows were donated, management decided they would have a competition, leaders, teams of residents and staff were selected to each unit. The paint, decoration, soil, plants were added. A garden party for 2 hours, families attended. The winner was announced. The event was very successful. The food menu, if it doesn't suit, there are alternatives on offer. There can be sad times when we lose a resident, I think of the good memories. I have met amazing and wonderful people.
I have been a resident for almost 2 years I cannot fault deerswood in anyway. When I went through radiotherapy they were there supporting me and I felt safe knowing if anything I was worried about there was always someone to talk to which was comforting. The staff are brilliant from cleaners, care workers to management. Deerswood should be proud and I'm honoured that I am in such a lovely place. There is always something going on and I especially enjoy the quizzes
Mum has been here for over a year and has finally settled down which is due to the friendly, caring staff. She is now enjoying the activities that she is interested in. She has nothing but praise for the staff and feels it is her home, very hard for someone who lived in the same home for over 70 years. Keep the good work up!
My sister has only just moved to Deerswood. The place where she was before was closed down and she had been there nearly 14 years so I was concerned about how the move would be. The staff and residents have gone out of their way to welcome her and she has settled in very quickly. I am so very grateful to all at Deerswood Lodge for caring for her and making this transition a success. She is so happy.
Good home with a dedicated team who run the home with good processes. The staff are friendly and helpful and the residents are well looked after. Lots of exciting things happening each day to keep residents entertained.
My mother-in-law became a resident 5 months ago and from day one she was treated with care and dignity and patience. During this time she now regards the staff as her friends as they greet her with a smile, and nothing is too much trouble. She enjoys her visit at the hairdresser on a Friday.
My wife suffers from Alzheimer's and had a fall at home. She has subsequently moved into Deerswood Lodge and we are seeing how she settles in. The facilities are excellent and the staff warm, friendly and helpful. My wife at the moment is unsure of herself and if you want to stay in your room as a result that's not a problem as staff will bring to you everything you want. You can do as much as you want or as little as you want - nothing is an issue. The Manager, works tirelessly and has a number of things happening at the same time but doesn't flap and seems to guide people in the right direction My first experiences with a Care Home but they have helped me to try and get my wife into their family as quickly as possible Thank you to all at Deerswood Lodge!
Would just like to thank all the staff for looking after my uncle. They go above and beyond so thanks to all the staff at Deerswood Care Home he is well looked after and very content.
