View Full Details of Alfriston Court Care HomeI have been a Alfriston Court Care Home since the 9th May 2025. During that time, I have been treated with kindness and consideration. The atmosphere amongst the residents is happy and friendly, and I am happy to confirm with their thoughts and wishes. We have a weekly programme of talks and activities, and I enjoy joining in. They include painting, keeping fit exercises, and each fortnight we have a pianist who comes to play and chat to us, and also a guitarist who comes occasionally. A completely deaf housekeeper joined the home recently, so we are learning sign language. All the staff here are patient and friendly, and I am grateful and appreciate this.
I stayed at Alfriston Court because I was recovering after having a full knee replacement. Alfriston Court is a beautiful place and just the place to get some help and relaxation after a painful and demanding operation. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. If I was a resident, I would like to do a lot of activities, perhaps armchair dancing, gardening and book club, trips to the local tea shops each week and visits to the theatre. I think it is so important to keep the mind stimulated.
Everybody is very friendly and efficient.
No complaints. Made to feel at home welcome on her first day. Was very happy with the administration of medicine and heath care and I fully trust those who handle the medical and personal care.
Alfriston Court is just perfect, the views are amazing. All the staff are kind and friendly and nothing is too much trouble, they have a good varied menu available which caters to all needs. They also give out a weekly plan of activities going on daily encouraging the residents to participate. They have some great outdoor summer events where friends and family are welcomed. Credit to the owners and everyone within the team.
My mother has been in Alfriston Court Care home for 9 months , having moved in on respite care she settled very quickly and made the decision to stay permanently . Mum is really happy in this home , she has a lovely room and has bought lots of her own furniture with her . The care is excellent and the staff look after her every need and are especially helpful with her medical needs . Mum loves the food, loves the activities which have really broadened her approach to life and often says the other residents and the staff are like a family to her. Mum is constantly telling me how lucky we were to find a place in this care home and it is so reassuring to me and my sister to know we don't need to worry about her wellbeing .
After living independently for all her adult life my mother's health started to fail. For the last 4 months of her life she stayed at Alfriston Court. Every single member of staff made her last days very special with their kindness, affection and professionalism. The home is situated in the glorious Sussex countryside with wonderful views. Thank you Alfriston for everything!
An excellent service. Staff are kind and caring. Food is varied and catered to your needs. Situated with fantastic views make your stay a good experience. A credit to the owners of Alfriston Court.
My Grandmother received the best care at Alfriston Court. In the last few months of her life she was treated with such respect and dignity. Everyone who works there from the lovely receptionists, catering staff to the HCAs and nurses are wonderful. I can't recommend Alfriston Court enough. The home is set in a beautiful location overlooking the South Downs and is such a lovely peaceful place. Thank you for looking after my Nan with such kindness and giving her peace of mind, comfort and company for the last few months of her life. I have no words to describe what you have given to our family.
From the first interaction with the home to the last the owners, management, nursing staff and every single member of staff has been a pleasure and the service they provided has been exemplary and without fault. My mum absolutely loved the home, her room was beautiful with a stunning view of the Southdowns and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. As a family we could not fault Alfriston Court Care Home and would recommend anyone looking for ware home care to visit without delay. You won't find anything better.
My mum in law resided at Alfriston Court for 5 months until she sadly passed away a couple of days ago. Making the move to residential care was a difficult decision for mum & us. However she settled into this beautiful home in just a few days. Building- beautiful, picturesque, well maintained, fabulous gardens Room- large, tastefully decorated & furnished. Comfortable, warm with en suite basin & toilet. (Would benefit from having a shower added) Communal areas - lounge beautifully decorated & furnished. Always a pot of hot coffee or tea & biscuits available Dining area/resident's lounge - renovated during mum's stay. Very welcoming spaces with fabulous views over the gardens & downs. Food- was good but could do with some improvement. Mum enjoyed it though. Especially the deserts! Last but certainly not least, staff- entirely exceptional!! Mum felt safe, cared for & built fabulous relationships with staff at all levels. The care she received in her final hours was exemplary!
From my first phone call requesting help with care for my mother. Alfriston Court Care Home were fantastic. They have a rapid entry procedure and were able to take my mother the same day. All the staff are so friendly & caring. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
We have used Alfriston Court Care Home for two weeks of respite this year and on both occasions, we have been delighted with the care and attention our mother receives. It is a beautiful building which is being carefully and creatively transformed into a high-quality care home. We take our mother out every afternoon so cannot comment on the activities.
I was invited to meet the charming manager over coffee and shown a couple of rooms. From the moment I arrived for respite care post surgery I was made to feel special. Nothing was too much trouble for each member of staff, many of whom had interesting stories to exchange. Food was delicious and flexible according to our preferences. Residents are treated with kindness and affection. The whole atmosphere being one of happiness.
Although my wife only spent 10 weeks in Alfriston Court Care Home before she sadly passed away I would highly recommend it. I only have praise for the nursing staff as well as the carers. On my daily visits, the atmosphere was always very friendly and welcoming. I could not have wished for a better end to her life.
Positive and caring and hospitable atmosphere throughout. Very helpful administration staff. Good nursing care. Good and kind daily care. Very clean facilities. Good home cooking. Good accommodation; cleaned daily; comfortable bed. I was in the final two weeks of a four-week convalescent period after a back operation. Everything I experienced at Alfriston Court went a long way in aiding my recovery and confidence during an uncertain time. I will recommend Alfriston Court.
In evaluating Alfriston Court Care Home I have to say that I have no personal experience of other homes. I did, however, spend a lot of time visiting others in the area before arranging for my wife to become a resident. Unfortunately, the extent of my wife's physical as well as mental disabilities is such that she is unable to take advantage of many of the activities, she is unable to use the well equipped bathroom en suite to her room, and she is unable to eat normal meals. That said, I am very grateful that a place became available for my wife at Alfriston Court when she needed it and I am very pleased with the way she has been looked after. The home has a friendly, homely atmosphere, my wife's room is very pleasant, with beautiful views - in fact the surroundings are a major attraction. All of the staff, and not just the carers, are welcoming and caring and go out of their way to be helpful. The recent change of ownership has resulted in a number of real improvements to the building.
My experience when I visit my sister is very positive, although I can't get there as often as I would like. The staff know me, or of me, and always offer and bring tea or coffee which is so nice for my sister as it is what she would have done at home. There are frequent activities which she enjoys and there are meetings from time to time at which residents are encouraged to make any comments or suggestions they may have. Her room is comfortable with a clean and bright bathroom/loo. She has her own pictures and could bring pieces of her own furniture. The main sitting and dining areas are really pleasant to be in - quiet and attractive. My sister loves to be outside on the easily accessible terrace, in the good weather, the surroundings are particularly lovely. I have no personal experience of the food, though my sister says it is good. Similarly, I can't give a opinion on 'management' or 'value'. However, I can say that I enjoy my visits to my sister because she is comfortable and happy and I appreciate the welcoming and friendly atmosphere and staff.
My mum has been a resident here since the end of January 2024, and I can honestly say, hand on heart that it is truly a special place. Not just its beautiful surroundings within the national park, affording the stunning views from many of the rooms and social areas. The home too has undergone extensive refurbishment throughout by the new owners. They have respected the history and architecture of the building while providing a comfortable ‘home’ for the residents and their visitors. More importantly to mention is the holistic approach taken with each resident and their families. Having been a nurse myself for 20 years, I recognise the exemplary quality of the nursing care, which is managed by one member of staff in particular. She leads one of the most dedicated and caring teams I’ve had the pleasure to know. All the staff, from the chefs, the maintenance team, the laundry and cleaning team all know each resident by name. The activity team are amazing too, thank you all.
My aunt resided 14 months here, she enjoyed a beautiful room with a picturesque view. From my initial visit, I felt happy and comfortable with the property and the staff. My numerous questions were answered promptly. She received excellent care, we were regularly updated on her health status, and we were promptly contacted when there were any areas of concern. The staff made sincere efforts to engage her in activities aligned with her interests, while also respecting her need for privacy during moments of personal reflection. Special occasions and holidays were celebrated with enthusiasm. Despite a change in ownership, there was no compromise in the quality of care. Positive cosmetic changes were visible, but the standard of care remained consistent. During our weekly visits, we were always greeted warmly, and any enquiries or requests made over the phone were promptly addressed. We are delighted that we chose Alfriston Court.
