After a stroke left me helpless and unable to use any limbs properly this place offered hope and assistance & made me realize that life was still worth living. Staffed by lovely caring people who were happy & willing to help.

My husband and I moved here recently from a care home in Wetherby. This is more pleasantly situated with a lovely garden. Generally, I feel the home is understaffed but we are treated with care and dignity. The food is varied and addequate but would be improved by the addition of well cooked fresh
vegetables. The rooms are clean and well fitted. Personal items from home are a welcomed addition. The activities programme is well run and all are encouraged to participate particularly in the musical events.

My wife has been a resident in Boroughbridge Manor since 2nd July 2025 and I have been very satisfied with care she is receiving. All the staff admin, reception, domestic, catering and maintenance staff have been so friendly and helpful.
The care staff have been great and whilst my wife can be
quite difficult at times, they have dealt with this with patience and good humour. It is great comfort to me to know she is such good hands

My husband suffered the effects of a serious stroke in 2022. Since that time he has been in various establishments benefiting from rehabilitation. Last year he suffered a serious accident on top of the effects of his stroke. Since moving into Boroughbridge Manor he has received kind and patient care
from all staff. At times he has been frightened, frustrated and occasionally he has been awkward and difficult to deal with, but always he has received the utmost in quality care from all staff.
It has been a difficult four years for me personally, but now, since my husband has moved into Boroughbridge Manor, I feel confident to take a back seat and let the professionals deal with my husband. And for the first time in many years, I feel I have the time to heal myself.
All the staff at Boroughbridge Manor are kind and helpful but I can not finish without giving a special thank you to Jill (on reception) and Alex (head of Care)- they regularly go above and beyond what is expected. Excellent.

My Father moved from Scotland 6 months ago after not coping well on his own, he had already had a short term stay at Boroughbridge Manor so he knew where he was going. He initially found it difficult to adjust to the change and the staff were amazingly patient with him, always calm and considerate
of his feelings.
Unfortunately his health declined whilst he was a resident and the team made sure that he received everything he needed, from the small comforts to all medical care required. After brief stay in hospital he returned for end of life care. During this time his care was truly excellent, many staff members went above and beyond, even spending time with him after their shift to stop him feeling lonely.
I cannot thank the team enough for all they have done for him. He was safe, comfortable and well cared for at all times.
He passed peacefully whilst sleeping.
Our thanks to all of the team.

During my mums stay at the home she was well cared for by the staff. I felt she was kept safe and happy. She was encouraged to be involved in various activaties.
The rooms were always clean. ALthough the laundry system, seemed to be very confusing and a number of items did go missing.
The food was
always well presented and plentyfull
I found all the staff to be helpfull and supportive regarding any issues.
The garden appear a little run down and neglected.
Not very encouraging, although very spacious.

My father came to live at Boroughbridge Manor in August. The staff are amazing and no request has been too much. From ordering a bigger bed ( my father is tall), larger portions , swapping tv's so he can watch sport. The staff are all genuinely lovely and care about us as a family. The
entertainment team work hard to keep everyone happy. I would thoroughly recommend the home to friends for their relatives.

In comparison to my mothers previous care home the Barchester Manor Care Home is far better. The home is very homely & very carring. With a better mix of residents.

My mother's care at Boroughbridge Manor deteriorated over the last six years. Her room had become shabby and unclean. Help with her personal hygiene needs were not met. Bedroom furniture falling to bits, was not fixed for a long time meaning my mother could not access some of her clothes and the
contents of her wardrobe was disorganised. The home appears to be significantly understaffed and this undoubtedly effects the quality and safety of care that the home provides. My mother became increasingly unhappy and has now moved to a different care home. Do not be fooled by the all frills facade that greets you when you first enter the building. Money should have been spent on the grass roots care not appearances. I would not recommend this care home in its current state.

Staff are very caring. Often they seem to be extremely busyand so it can take some time to satisfactorily address requests.
Care home is kept to a good standard and facilities are clean and tidy, health and safety is always a high priority.
Food is satisfactory - frozen mixed veg on several
occaisions.

My husband recently spent two weeks at Boroughbridge Manor. I visited him twice and was very pleased by his contentment. The staff treated him extremely well, leaving him to do his 'own thing' when he prepared to sit in his room. He was clean, well fed & watered.
I appreciated the break from daily
caring. Thank you everyone.

Change of Management 12 months ago. Issues have all been ironed out, and the care home is now run exceptionally well. Activities are good, and there is a programme of redecoration of the public areas due to commence shortly.
The staff are amazing, very patient and caring with my mum, who is now
very frail and requires more attention, after spending 2.5 years at The Manor.
I would highly recommend this home.

We had little choice where my mother in law would go but we feel we've hit the jackpot. Mother in law has always been a worrier but she loves Barchester and considers it home. Every time we go (at varying times) the place is spotless and the staff are genuine caring people. Lots of activities and
great social media so can see mother in law nearly every day. We feel so blessed. Thank you to all, a credit to Barchester.

We received excellent service all round and so friendly - no hesitation in going back again. We were well received, well looked after and my sister enjoyed her stay with you. Next time she hopes to get into the garden if the weather is warm enough.

Up to now the staff have been very welcoming and helpful.

I visited my father just before lunchtime. I apologised for the bad timing. The staff made me feel welcome and suggested perhaps I could eat with my father even at such short notice. The wonderful staff sat myself and Dad down together and set a table in the conservatory lounge area. It was
incredibly generous to allow us to experience this precious quality time together. Moments like this mean a lot. The food was delicious too. Many thanks.

My friend was increasingly needy - requiring all physical care including feeding. She always looked clean and tidy, well dressed and cared for. She was usually up and positioned so she could interact if she wished. With more qualified nurses or physiotherapists care could be improved - my friend
developed foot drop and contractures. Overall the staff were kind and gentle in their interactions.

Fantastic place for people to call home. We didn't have chance to look round Boroughbridge Manor before my mum was taken there. We cannot believe our luck, Mum loves it there. The staff are so very kind, always a lovely warm welcome for families visiting.

Mum has Alzheimer's Disease and has been resident at Boroughbridge Manor for 2 1/2 years. Over that time, and certainly since the last CQC Assessment, there have been changes. The Management Team have been working hard to improve procedures to improve quality of care and experience for residents.
Staffing is an issue everywhere in the care sector, but also the quality. All staff I have dealings with are kind, caring and work extremely hard to provide the best environment possible. All Care Homes are dealing with challenges at the moment, and there are always improvements to be made, but overall I think that Boroughbridge Manor remains the best Care Home in local area that is able to meet Mum's needs, and I cannot thank all of the staff enough.
