Mum has been resident at The Laurels for a number of years now, and the care she has received has been excellent. When we visit we are always greeted with a smile, it really is a home from home and very welcoming. There are many and varied activities for the residents to enjoy from painting, entertainers, dancing, and visits from school children which they greatly enjoy. The level of care and compassion from the staff is outstanding and we are always kept fully informed of any problems relating to Mum's health and general wellbeing. The Home is very well run and maintained to a high standard. The decision to place a loved one in residential care is one of the hardest one can make, but from our experience Mum has been very happy and settled and we couldn't have wished for a better place for her.
Our brother was in need of some respite care and so we found The Laurels for him to come for a short visit. As soon as we walked in we felt at ease, the staff were so warm and welcoming and everyone was cheery and happy. The atmosphere, the food and the care were of such a high standard and everything was administered in a warm and friendly manner. So much so that my brother decided to stay permanently!
Having had experience of other care homes due to other family members sadly having had vascular dementia over the years I can honestly say as good as they were the best decision the family made was to choose The Laurels for my wonderful mother in law. From the moment she came to stay back in March 2024 she settled so well. From being quite withdrawn and lonely at home she found her lovely smile and cheeky side again. She is safe, well cared for, loving the home cooked food and cakes! The team in The Laurels are quite simply the BEST. We are welcomed with warmth and a smile every time we visit, which is often. Mother in law and all her new friends are always busy doing something or taking part in all kinds of activities from arm chair keep fit to dancing and singing. It honestly is a home from home with a fabulous team from management to the lovely cleaners. Keep up the amazing work I for one appreciate all your hard work and love, care, dignity and respect.
Very friendly staff providing wonderful care for our loved ones. Lots of different activities and entertainment so that no two days are the same. Great food on offer. We feel reassured that our special person is being respected and well looked after.
My lovely Aunt is a current resident at The Laurels. We visit regularly and we are so happy and confident with the care and support she receives from the dedicated staff team. We contacted The Laurels when concerns grew for our loved one, and from the first call, until now the team could not do enough for my aunt and for us as a family. We were all treat with utmost respect and the interactions with my aunt from the first introductions were amazing. My aunt is happy and well cared for, she looks the best she has in some time. She is encouraged to join in activities and seeing the daily photos of her wonderful smile and having fun is so reassuring for us as a family. She loves having her hair styled and being pampered like she deserves. The Laurels team always encourage family activities and visits and we are made to feel so welcome whatever day or time we visit. All the residents appear happy every time we visit and it's a wonderful warm homely environment.
The Laurels cared for my grandma at the end of her life and I visited her regularly. It was really obvious from the outset that the staff were a loving a caring group that did their best for her. They made myself and my family welcome and it was such a relief to know that she was well-looked after in her final days. Some even came to the funeral. Highly recommended if you are making the difficult decision to place a loved one in care. Excellent care home.
In late March I needed to find respite care for my father. Calling the care homes in this area the responses were varied from a straight "no we don't offer respite" to waiting for someone to call me back days later. One home stood out immediately. This was The Laurels Care Home, the care home manager was so caring and an assessment of Dad's care needs was quickly organised. I remember thinking "thank goodness I've found this home, it sounds just perfect". Everyone who worked in the home was so caring, helpful and friendly. Dad settled in very quickly and made new friends. He loved the food, the activities and was happy and content. The food and homemade cake served is of great quality. Unlike some other care homes they don't have a food budget per head, the staffing level is a high ratio to each resident. Higher than many of the corporate-owned care homes. If you are looking for a care home this one is highly recommended.
My mother has been in The Laurels for five months now after nine years in her own home with me as a live-in carer. It was a very quiet life. Since she joined the Laurels family she has had parties, singers, visits from school children, puppet shows, art sessions, dancing, the reptile man, church services, and has taken part in everything that is going on. The home looks lovely and because it is small, it does not feel like an institution. Her room is suitable for her needs. The food is very good and it is reassuring to see into the kitchen where the chef is chopping vegetables. The staff are friendly and helpful, from the carers to the people who clean and do the laundry right to Senior Management. There is an intelligent approach to any difficulties. Ma is now 96 and shows no sign of going. She is having the time of her life.
After visiting 2 other care homes there was no doubt about encouraging a very dear friend (who has mobility issues) to choose The Laurels. As soon as stepping through the door there is an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness. Walking through the lounges the residents and the staff give you eye contact and smiles. The last time I visited a recording of Frank Sinatra singing 'Save the last dance for Me' was playing. What a wonderful way to promote mood-lifting and enjoyment. My friend is relaxed and comfortable, enjoying the interaction with both staff and residents. The food is excellent with a wide variety of choices. An invitation to share a 'Welcome Afternoon Tea' came on the second day which was very special. The Manager took time out to chat with us. The cakes and scones were all made in their kitchen. Thank you for making this huge transition for my friend easier from her own home to yours.
I cannot thank enough the manager and all the staff at the Laurels for all their help and support over the last few years in looking after firstly my dad and my uncle and now my mum. All staff show my mum love and affection that I did not think she would receive as a care home resident, she is cared for at all times with dignity and respect. Mum has a fantastic room of a high standard, the food that is offered by their own chef is all homemade and of an excellent standard. The home is kept spotlessly clean at all times and the entertainment is second to none. My mam has a better social life than me and enjoys dancing, bingo, knitting, regular visiting singers, puppet theatre, etc. I particularly like how entertainment is organised in line with the calendar, my mum tells everyone she is living in a hotel. Best care home ever my mum has a fantastic quality of life. Thank you.
Everyone at The Laurels treated my mam with wonderful care and support. So very friendly. I thank you for taking such great care and looking after her the short time she was there. I would thoroughly recommend The Laurel's rooms are lovely and there's lots of entertainment for the residents.
My mother moved into The Laurels on the 6th of January. She's like a new woman and has a new lease of life. Due to my own health issues we had to find somewhere for Mum to live after 11 years with us. We were nervous about how a move would go but there was no need. Mum has fitted in like a glove. She raves about the food, exercise classes, activities, cleanliness of the place and of course her beautiful room. She participates in most things and retires to her room to read when she feels like it. The staff are all wonderful and all get on well. Yesterday she was taken out for a walk and enjoyed it. If I could move in myself I would.
My mum moved to The Laurels just before Christmas 2024. As a family, we were worried as it's not something we've dealt with before. I can honestly say those worries were instantly forgotten when I saw how happy my mum is now. It's like she's been given a new lease of life. It's literally like home from home for her and ourselves. She is literally thriving. The staff are an absolute blessing. They keep us updated on Mum and make us so welcome every time we visit. The food looks delicious, the home itself is immaculate I really can't fault it. There is always something happening to keep the residents engaged and happy. They have so many activities that include everyone. The staff are second to none and we will be forever grateful to them all. The management, the carers, the cleaners and even the kitchen staff treat my mum with respect and warmth. She absolutely loves it there and we couldn't be happier. I don't usually write reviews but I felt the need to write this. Thank you guys.
I would like to state how impressed I was with the care my dad received while he was at The Laurels. Every member of staff was attentive, and professional and showed real empathy with my dad who was suffering from late-stage cancer. In addition to the exemplary direct care he received, the management at The Laurels went above and beyond to provide expert support and liaison with social services and healthcare providers and were always there for my dad when he needed help. I will be forever grateful to the staff at The Laurels for making sure my dad could contact me despite the fact that I was overseas and for enabling me to see him in a caring environment during his last few weeks.
My 92-year-old mother has been a resident at The Laurels now for over seven months. She settled in very quickly and tells us all the time that she ‘loves’ it. The Laurels is very well managed, the staff are caring and supportive of my mother's individual needs and there are lots of activities to keep the residents occupied and entertained. The food is also excellent. As a family we are always made to feel welcome when we visit and we are very reassured that our mother is being well cared for. A big thank you to all the staff at The Laurels.
3 weeks ago, I needed hospital care and I found a respite place for my husband at The Laurels. He is very happy in this excellent care home and will now stay full-time to be looked after by the very kind and attentive staff and its excellent management. He found a friend, he loves the meals catering for the taste of the elderly and the entertainment offered. We have found a heaven for our dear husband and father and are very grateful to The Laurels for looking after him with so much kindness and compassion.
Our mam needed 24/7 care as she simply wasn't safe at home on her own and she was lonely. It was probably one of the most difficult decisions to make but it was in her best interests. We were lucky that The Laurels had a room available for her and she moved in very happily in March 2024. Not only was she given a warm welcome but the family as a whole too, we were given afternoon tea but Mam decided she would go and have a game of bingo with the other residents, what a great start. From then on she has settled in so very well, the team are very good, the food is all freshly made and there are plenty of activities going on which she joined in with from the first day, bingo, dancing, singing you name it. As a family we can now relax and not worry as much about her as we know she is safe and well cared for. The managers and all the staff are so caring and they cannot do enough for their residents, well done to you all.
Our sister needed respite care and was lucky to be taken to the Laurels. The care and support she has been given is wonderful. She looks the best she has for a very long time. She is being so well looked after and enjoying the lovely meals provided. She has now decided to remain at the Laurels. We her brothers and sisters-in-law can now relax knowing that she is safe and being so well cared for. The managers and all the staff are so caring and cannot do enough for their residents. We cannot thank them enough.
Eighteen months ago my aunty needed emergency respite care and we were very fortunate that The Laurels could take her. Circumstances arose and my aunty was placed full time in The Laurels. She sadly passed away this week, but the last 18 months of her life have been brightened by the care and the love that she found with her new 'family' because that is what The Laurels is it is a family. The staff are exemplary. Their level of support and caring is outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble and the fun they have with the residents warms your heart to see. My aunty has spent many pleasant hours singing, exercising, and crafts, the list is endless. We don't mention the lovely freshly baked cream scones, all calorie-free of course. I will never forget the love and support I was shown when my aunty passed away. If you are looking for a place for your relative then you should give The Laurels a call. You won't be disappointed.
Our mum went into the Laurels in February 2022, aged 95. It was a huge upheaval and at first, Mum just sat in her room not wanting to socialise. However, with gentle encouragement from the staff and manager, Mum ventured downstairs and never looked back. She was so happy and kept telling us the food was beautiful, the activities so interesting and the staff just simply amazing. Mum’s health deteriorated and she passed away peacefully on the 3rd of August surrounded by her children. The week leading up to her death had been very hard as she was distressed. The staff were absolutely amazing. As well as looking after our mum they gave us, her family so much support. They fed us through the night, gave us cakes during the day, held our hands for comfort and continued to look after Mum, chatting to her even though she had become unresponsive. As a family, we want to say thank you to the Laurels. We could not have asked for a better place for our Mum to end her very long life of 97 years.
