View Full Details of Aveley Lodge Care HomeDad became a resident in November 2022 after mum passed away and social care refused him rights to return to his own home. Dad had suffered from a bad fall and was in hospital with mum at the same time. Moving into Aveley Lodge was a worrying time as he needed to familiarise himself in new accommodation and being on his own for the first time in 65 years. I honestly don't know what I would have done without such a wonderful caring and supportive team. Dad loves his food and being cooked from scratch, was a major winning point. If hungry, dad would soon ask for more. He joins in with the activities that he is able to do. Having alzheimer's in dementia dad continues to receive excellent care and attention. He loves having a good hair cut and always looks smart and clean. He likes to sit in the garden overlooking the countryside with a visiting sheep or cow wandering in the fields. The rooms are lovely and all your needs have been thought of. This is a 'care home from home'!
My mother has lived at Avely Lodge for 9 months now. Despite having a substantial care package it had become increasingly difficult to meet her needs and she did not feel safe being alone at home. Mum was well supported during during the settling in period and has consistently told me she feels content and well cared for. I am pleased care staff respect her individual needs and preferences - she can be a bit of a quirky non conformist! Other positives include excellent home cooked food, attractive rear garden looking over fields, light and bright internal decor, diverse weekday resident activities, 100% ground floor.
What a fantastic care home. Everyone is so helpful, they can't do enough for residents and visitors. Plenty of activities for residents, great food and company. The facilities are exceptional, especially for a small establishment such as Aveley Lodge. I would not hesitate in recommending Aveley Lodge to anyone
I am so pleased with this care home. My mother always looks clean and well dressed when I visit and the interior is kept very clean. The nursing side of things is good too, with the local surgery always politely informing me of issues or changes. The staff are friendly and caring and there is usually a very good atmosphere. Residents are treated with courtesy. The home is run as a community so most residents are in the communal areas most of the day, This is good for mental health. There is also a nice garden and plenty of activities. I would highly recommend this excellent care home.
When I walk into Aveley Lodge I can feel the warmth and kindness that makes this care home so special. The staff are not only professional and highly skilled, but they also go above and beyond to ensure residents feel valued, respected, and genuinely cared for. The atmosphere is welcoming and homely, with every effort made to create a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment. The activities are engaging and inclusive, and the home itself is beautifully maintained. There is compassion and patience shown to each individual, treating every resident as though they were a member of their own family. I would highly recommended to anyone seeking a place where quality care and genuine kindness go hand in hand.
Visit once a week and always very clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. My aunt is very well looked after and everything she requires is available at Averley . We would highly recommend this care home for your family members .
Dad moved into Aveley Lodge at the end of July 2024. The staff were excellent at getting him settled in and the dedicated activities team soon had him joining in with all the different activities that they were organising and spent much time finding out about his interests and his past. Sadly my mum passed away in August and all the staff were fantastic with Dad and really supported us as a family during that sad time. Every member of staff knows each resident so well and can't do more to make them all comfortable and safe. Dad had a birthday in November and the chef made him a personalised cake which was so kind. I would highly recommend Aveley Lodge to anyone who is looking for an excellent home for their loved one.
My mother initially went into Aveley Lodge Care Home in October 2018 for three weeks whilst I was on holiday. Upon my return she was given the option of returning home or staying in Aveley Lodge permanently. She had no hesitation in saying that she wanted to stay there. She was in very good health initially but after 9 months or so was diagnosed with Dementia which got worse as the years progressed. I was a very regular visitor and can honestly say that never once did I have any concern about how my mum was being cared for. She was always well presented, her hair was done beautifully and she even had her nails painted. I have nothing but thanks and praise for the wonderful staff who looked after her for the 6 years she was a resident. When it became evident that she was nearing the end of her life I was with her as much as I could, day and night and the staff still treated her with the love and dignity she had always received from them. Thank you so much.
I obviously am not a resident but reviewing what I have seen, what my dealings have been with staff and management and what my mother has said to me. The care home is well run and all the staff members are very helpful. My mother is very happy and tells me that the staff treat her well and she has her favourite staff members. I only have dealings with two on-site managers who are extremely nice and helpful. I do not have much contact with higher management. Overall a good care home.
My dad was in Aveley Lodge for just over 18 months. From the first interaction we had with the manager and the team they have been excellent. Dad was admitted to Aveley following the emergency hospitalisation of my mum at a time when I was isolating due to Covid. To say this was a stressful period would be an understatement. However, the manager and the team came highly recommended and we came to see why. The individualised, personal and attentive care that Dad received throughout his stay made his last 18 months as comforting and enjoyable as they could be. This was noted throughout the team, whether they were care staff, housekeeping or the excellent entertainment team. Even the chef and kitchen team knew Dad's wants and needs and where possible responded to his personal situation. I would not hesitate the recommend it.
Our mother has been a resident at Aveley Lodge for approaching two years now, having been diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2021 and not being capable of looking after herself or safely take her medicine. She has a range of other conditions requiring medication to be taken throughout each day, including morning injections for diabetes. Sadly her condition is slowly changing her, altering her personality and making her behaviour more erratic and difficult for those around her - both her fellow residents and staff - for which we apologise. All the staff at Aveley Lodge are dedicated, very caring, highly professional and generally excellent; keeping all residents comfortable and safe - treating all residents and their visitors with dignity and respect. The staff make great effort to create a happy care home environment, to urge participation in the various activities each day/week and to encourage the positive engagement with our mother despite her variable behaviour.
I visit my sister on a regular basis and always find the staff happy, caring and very helpful if I have any queries about my sister. The new visitor's room where visitors can make themselves tea, coffee and hot chocolate is a welcome bonus. I'd be happy to recommend Aveley Lodge Care Home to friends and family.
Our mother has been a resident at Aveley Lodge Care Home for over six years due to Alzheimer's dementia and has been incredibly happy and well cared for throughout. She sadly passed away on the 24th May. The palliative care she received demonstrated compassion dignity and respect. This treatment was further extended to my sister and I, as we spent countless hours at our mum’s bedside. We cannot fault the care received. The staff at Aveley were like a second family and we could not have chosen a better place for our lovely mum to spend her final years. For any family looking to place a loved one within a care setting, which is a huge decision, we would highly recommend Aveley Lodge and know that your loved one is in safe hands and will receive excellent care, stimulation and good quality of life in their final years.
Our mother was a resident at Aveley Lodge from December 2017 to December 2022 when she passed away. Our experience at Aveley Lodge has always been very positive. During this time she was always clean and well presented. There was a genuine fondness for her by the staff who were kind and treated her with dignity. She was blind and deaf and they made every effort to include her in activities. When it was necessary for her to move rooms due to building work she was given a choice of rooms, one being particularly suitable for her with double aspect windows, which made it lighter and was helpful for her loss of sight. When she passed away the staff were incredible. Their kindness and consideration made it much easier for us. Thank you to all.
The staff at Aveley Lodge treat the residents as if they were family. They are treated as individuals and attention is paid to their individual likes and dislikes. My mum has lost the ability to initiate conversations (she has severe Alzheimer's) but the warmth of the relationships with staff is still evident as she will blow them kisses and hug them. There has been a change of registered care manager this year but the family-run ethos remains and the manager is clearly determined to keep everyone as independent as possible for as long as possible and ensure everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Mum can have breakfast whatever time she wants it (and can always have her favourite, porridge even if she is asking for breakfast at the wrong time of day) and the on-site cooked meals are delicious. We've been really pleased with the quality of care she has received.
It has been very difficult to cope with the fact that my wife had to go into a care home and that I could no longer look after her. However Aveley Lodge, for three years now, has done a wonderful job in caring for her and keeping her safe. She appears to be very happy and all the staff do their utmost to make sure she is as comfortable as possible. Thank you, Aveley Lodge.
Aveley Lodge Care Home is an excellent care home with dedicated, hard-working staff who treat the residents with kindness and respect in what can, at times, be difficult circumstances. Every resident is encouraged to join in activities relevant to their personal mobility and comprehension. The home doors are always open to visitors who are made very welcome and staff are always happy to discuss any queries or concerns you might have. A friendly and happy home.
I like being in Aveley Lodge. All the staff are very kind. I am very happy here. I love the entertainment.
In the twelve months up to March 2022, I have been a volunteer at Aveley Lodge attending one day a week when I have taken responsibility for garden maintenance and the tidiness of the external site. During the time when it has been possible for volunteer personnel to assist with the activities programme for residents, I have spent part of my day working to the direction of the activities organiser. This has included a number of resident-related activities but has principally developed into games of 'Scrabble' played with a regular group of residents who, I believe, find the activity enjoyable and satisfying. By negotiation, it was agreed that I should take lunch with the residents and this has become an occasion when there has been a meaningful exchange of conversation. I am grateful both for the opportunity to repay the kindness shown to my wife in the 30 months she was resident at Aveley Lodge prior to her death and for the welcome that staff and managers have shown me as a volunteer.
My Aunt has been a resident at Aveley for around 6 years now. We have always been satisfied with the level of care which she has received during this time and we have certainly noticed an improvement in her general and mental health. The staff are kind, caring, and attentive to her needs. The food is excellent and the general ambience of the home is warm and friendly. The level of activities that are organised on a day-to-day basis for the enjoyment of the residents is incredible, there is always something going on! Whilst the last couple of years have been extremely difficult with the COVID situation, the Owner and Management Team have handled this magnificently, closely adhering to the Government guidelines and recommendations at all times thereby ensuring the safety of both residents and staff alike. Communication by way of the monthly newsletter is brilliant and keeps both residents and relatives fully up-to-date with what's going on in the home.
