View Full Details of Larkhill HallMy mother-in-law moved into Larkhill Hall care home last month. The transition from hospital to care was smooth and seamless. The support we had from the staff was excellent. The manager was on hand with all our queries and ensured my mother-in-laws needs were all taken care of, whilst being there when she felt a little anxious, encouraging her to participate in the many activities that are available. The manager spent time with her and us to ensure all went well. Thank you to the manager and all the staff.
Larkhill has been a truly exceptional place for my mother, and I couldn't be more grateful. From day one, the staff have shown remarkable care, warmth, and professionalism. It's clear that residents here are treated with the utmost dignity, respect, and kindness. We are grateful for the outstanding support she receives every day. The team goes above and beyond-not only meeting her needs, but enriching her life with genuine compassion and thoughtful attention. The home itself is warm, welcoming, and full of life, with a strong sense of community. Activities are well-planned and inclusive, and communication with families is excellent. Larkhill offers true peace of mind, knowing our loved one is in such capable and caring hands. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking the very best in care and support. I would like to particularly say thanks to the home manager, she is amazing and leads by example and is a fantastic role model for all her staff. Thank you all
I am overwhelmed with the care and attention my mum receives from this wonderful care home, she is treated with the highest respect, and encourages mum to take part, in most of the activities. They understand all of her needs and take the time out to fulfill all of her and her families expectations, I cannot fault the service, care and respect all of the staff give to each and every person. Resident and families.
We cannot thank you enough for looking after our dad. The care home and staff are incredible. We would highly recommend you and my dad can't wait to go back. Thanks to the manager and staff, you are all amazing.
Twenty-three members of our family turned up for the one hundredth birthday party for us all with a sumptuous buffet prepared by the chef and we were welcomed warmly and looked after so well by the event organiser. Many thanks to all of the management and staff who all played their part in a memorable day for us all.
The staff and home and facilities are excellent.
Resident all sitting around, no activities evident. Cleaner cleaning rooms. Carer checking medication. Other staff in discussion, change over at 2:00.
My father has been a resident of Larkhill Hall for the past six years and is now receiving end of life care there. Every single member of staff have gone above and beyond in their care for him. A special mention to the senior carer on the top floor for his dedication and updates to our family. We will never forget what you have done for Dad at this difficult time. Thank you.
A wonderful 90th birthday celebration was put on for a resident on Sunday 26th November. A lot of his family showed up for the "party" and the staff were very polite, courteous and welcoming to everybody concerned and helped the celebration go exceptionally well. Thank you all for your help in making the day go very well.
Upon viewing Larkhill as a family, we were painted a very pretty picture by management. Our relative is 93 years old, doubly incontinent and was left without a pad on. Absolutely saturated and left for hours on end. Every visit there seems to be another situation unfolding. Very disappointing.
Staff really good but seems to be more temporary currently, who tend to stand around waiting for instructions rather than interacting with residents. Permanent staff really doing their very best but often looked stressed and run off their feet. Very little activities - boards out of date - residents not stimulated. No days out at all since mum moved in - January 2023. Staff need more time to engage with residents.
I would describe Larkhill Hall as a very attractive clean place and have always found the staff pleasant and helpful. My father has been there since late January this year. His room is safe and quiet and he has his own well-equipped wetroom. He is aware that there is a programme of activities each month but prefers to mostly stay in his room. He has not been happy with the food and sometimes the lack of drinks during the day but declined to have an input into this survey.
I have found everyone very approachable and caring of not just my father but other residents. Any concerns can be brought up and discussed. My father seems well-settled, happy and comfortable. Issues are dealt with quickly. Laundry items do go missing but this is understandable, largely ok. Sometimes room/bed is not always as clean as could be but that could be my father not wanting them to do it!
Mum stayed for 2 weeks for respite care. This decision was not taken lightly and we looked around a lot of care homes before deciding on Larkhill. The home is modern and bright, beautifully decorated. The staff were very knowledgeable and understood all of her care needs during our initial discussions with them. Mum was well looked after while staying here. She was made to feel very welcome and the food provided was to a very high standard. She had no complaints at all. All of the staff we met were professional and answered all of our queries honestly. We would not hesitate in placing mum here again as we feel she was happy and safe and this was really important to us.
My Dad moved to Larkhill in June 2021 and remains a resident. I believe he is well cared for and benefits from the company of others. I am often concerned by the lack of staff, although cannot fault their dedication and kindness but they are very thinly stretched. We have also experienced Dad's clothing going missing, despite labelling, and other items just disappearing. Also, this happens very regularly; we replace clothing, labelled, and then it disappears. As mentioned numerous times, this doesn't improve. He also has difficulty walking, exacerbated by a lack of motivation from anyone. Sometimes communication is poor, although I'm sure the staff numbers contribute to this. Dad is well-fed and content; he is settled in this environment.
Main bugbear. Buy my dad new underwear (lots), t-shirts, etc. Label them with his name yet low and behold when we go to visit him he's got someone else's shirt/t-shirt on and going into his room we find there are no socks or underwear in his drawers so the staff end up running around for some. This has been going on for a while now even after it's been mentioned numerous times by us and once covid arrived we just gave up asking as couldn't get in to see him. Dad has dementia so this doesn't bother him and he is happy there and well looked after so really this needs sorting out.
My mum has been a resident in Larkhill Hall for two and a half years, she went in 3-months before Covid-19 arrived. It was very hard being shut out but we managed, with window visits and her mobile. The staff have always been amazing, the facilities and mum having her own bathroom are good. I wouldn’t have put her somewhere with shared bathrooms. If I do have a few concerns, I voice them and they are happy to listen and resolve any concerns. They have good communication and the food is lovely. You can agree on a care plan for your relative such as requesting female-only staff for personal care of my mum. If mum has to be in a care home then I believe this to be a very good one. Let’s face it nobody wants to put our loved ones in a care home but when the time came, I’m pleased with the choice we made.
Temporary care for Mum, a very protective family! I had concerns as to how Mum would settle, we shouldn't have worried. Mum was happy in the lovely environment, a few teething problems at the beginning of her stay, but talking to the professional staff who had time to listen. Things were sorted out. Mum enjoyed the routine and constantly praised the staff, who were always there for her. We were as emotional leaving Larkhill Hall as we were going in, the affection shown to Mum and other residents was evident. Mum burst into song the first night home, a song that she remembered from Larkhill Hall. Which made us happy, as even with Alzheimer's she had fond memories. Thank you to all staff.
My aunt has settled in well and is happy. Lovely, clean, modern surroundings. The only issue is difficulty calling on the phone after 5 - 6 pm and getting through. Need a "Plain" Menu option in the evening as she has very simple tastes.
Overall satisfied with service. Staff friendly and look after residents well. Food seems good and clothes well washed. The room is a bit small and sometimes needs more cleaning, since very hard to keep it fresh.
