My mother has been a resident for nearly two years, and has a wonderfully comfortable room overlooking the garden. The staff are attentive, and treat her with care and dignity. The close relationship with the local medical centre was one of the attractions for our family, and the local GP has been a
regular visitor, ensuring our mother's good health. Social activities and stimulating events keep Mum healthy.

The two essential attributes of a good care home are -
1. efficient organisation and 2. well-trained, kind, decent, human carers.
The Cambridgeshire Care Home is first-class under both heads. The building has feel superb, well-designed both in and out and in detail. The daily operations unfold
unfailingly smoothly. The carers, medical and non-medical are without exception, delightful - consistently patient and gracious in their interaction with residents. I would unhesitatingly recommend this care home.

It is a lovely carehome, it is more like a luxury hotel. All rooms, areas etc are furnished to a high standard. Lovely visitors cafe area with free drinks and cakes. Facilities are very good and staff are very helpful.

I attended the dementia awareness workshop in November 2025 taken by Chris Elsley. The information was invaluable and I learnt so much in a short period that will help me navigate issues with dementia and how to relate and communicate with dementia sufferers. Although my elderly mother who is
resident at the home does not suffer from dementia my (much younger) husband has recently been diagnosed with early on set alzheimers and I have really struggled. Meeting other loved ones at the workshop was also very inspiring and made me feel much less alone, and we had a very good laugh and lovely cakes.
Thank you to Chris and all the wonderful nursing staff, admin staff and caterers and cleaners at CCH and to Yvonne for organising.

I wish I had been to this course three years ago when my husband first showed signs of dementia.
I came with a neighbour and we both felt we benefited from coming to the course. The knowledge we took away was very helpful.

My sister is now settling in really well. Her dementia is not too troublesome for her yet and she is able to join in lots of activities. her occasional anxiety is always allayed. The carers & well-being team are so kind to all the residents and I am very grateful that there was a space for my sister
when she needed it. I am also more than grateful for the support shown to me.

The staff at the care home work tirelessly to ensure that all residents receive top quality care.
My mother has been a resident for nearly three years and in that time we have never had any concerns regarding the care she receives.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming when we are arrive.
We are kept fully informed about any changes to our mother's health and wellbeing. When care is delivered to our mother it is done so with dignity and professionalism. The wellbeing team go out of their way to make sure there are a variety of activities on offer and include all residents in these no matter their circumstances.

Although my mother is now bedbound the staff continue to be their caring and gentle selves. They try to involve her in some of the activities for example bringing up various animals for her to stroke (an especial pleasure for mum) and celebrating her birthday with a special cake as well as
organising for the hairdresser to come to her room to cut her hair and the podiatrist for her nails.
They helped make the move from one room to another a seamless process and mum loves the view of trees and birds from the window of her new room.
The regular reviews of mum's care plan keep us up to date and the Heads of Care always respond quickly to our requests. Michele on reception is always welcoming and makes us feel at home immediately - and knows my requirement for a delicious coffee and cake available from the bistro on arrival.
We are very happy with mum's overall standard of care and stand in awe of the dedication of all the staff.

Every aspect of Cambridgeshire Care Home is excellent. The staff are caring and friendly, rooms are very pleasant. Mum enjoys the food, and there is a wide range of activities for those who want to take part. Mum particularly likes the well-maintained gardens and fountain, also the 'bistro' area for
coffee. I have felt very supported by the staff from the receptionists to the Heads of Care in Mum's unit. They were particularly helpful during the speedy transition from hospital - they went out of their way to make things as easy as possible for us. Thank you all!

My father has been in the Cambridgeshire Care Home for a week of respite care after an operation. My sister and I have been very impressed with the care that has been taken of him, to ensure a restful environment in which he can recuperate and maintain his regular post-op exercises.
The staff could
not have been more welcoming, from the day we took our parents to see round the care home, to when my father was welcomed there after being in hospital and every day since. All the staff, including the nurses, those who bring him his meals and the electrician who checked his electric fan that we provided from home, all led by the very able customer relations manager, have been smiley, friendly, reassuring and prompt at responding to his requests. All our emails have been responded to comprehensively and quickly. We have had a couple of useful calls from the nurses to bring us up to speed with things, which was reassuring and helpful.
The room my father is in is wonderful, and I believe, newly decorated.

This is the best (and most expensive) respite fortnight. My wife has had 5 different cambridge care homes. The home was recently purpose built on the site of a BMW dealership and offers BMW level care at BMW prices. Included are varied activities, chiropody, hairdressing, good fresh cooked food
(especially soup) with attentive, friendly enthusiastic staff. Note that 14 days stay = 13 nights, as it says at the end pf the 14-page contract, but not at the start. Keep receipt of payment (we were temporarily asked for a new cheque after the old one paid in full) clothes, which were whisked away to the laundry but not always whisked back. If you want high quality respite care and can afford it, Cambridgeshire care home is the place to go

March has been a challenging month for my mum and the whole team have really offered her loads of infectious encouragement and confidence to do well with her exercises and mobility. They have always been there in a very supportive and understanding way and have created a programme that meets her
new challenges so that she can regain independence. Each time she feels a little dejected they are warm and encouraging. The PT and well being team have also gone out of their way to help and support her in her progress and without all this support I feel sure she would have languished and not been able to make the progress and gain some independence back.
11 April 2025
I cannot thank this home enough for the care and support they give the families and residents.
We said a sad goodbye to the staff when we lost my father in February,. At the beginning of March my mother had a fall, and unable to care for her at home, I called the customer relations manager. Mum
arrived 11 days ago, to the most wonderful warm reception and it feels like we've come home.
The staff work so hard, to ensure residents are well cared for, it cannot be easy if everyone calls at once, but they always arrive with a smile and nothing is too much bother.

My mother was a resident of the Gt. Shelford home and I think she had a marvellous time there. We had tried to look after her at home but it became apparent that even with 24-hour days of three shifts of care nurses and family members the good old family home was an issue.
At Gt. Shelford, the
constant attention, the very high level of care and, I must say, the equally high quality cuisine ensured that my mother's autumn months were spent wrapped within a mantle of mentally stimulating and physically comforting friendship of luxurious comfort.
Even after my mother passed, the customer relations manager and deputy home manager went out of their way to help the family with much emotional support. One may not realise it until afterwards, but the time, help and attention we received form all the staff at the Home was a substantial support during the time the family needed it the most. This is something more lies outside a 'business plan', it is humanity, friendship and the essence of 'care'.

Moved my mother here from Lancashire in December from a care home she had settled in for the past year. The Cambridgeshire Care Home team have done a superb job settling her in. She is looking great and is very much at ease. She loves the staff and the environment. I found the staff responsive and
very professional.
28 January 2025
I am so happy we chose The Cambridgeshire Care Home for Mum. She is happier there than she has been in decades. She laughs a lot and makes the staff laugh, even though she is sliding into dementia.
The staff know her likes, dislikes and foibles. They clearly love her and are very attentive,
treating her with kindness and patience at all times.
Food is delicious, varied and plentiful. I was a little concerned on a recent visit that Mum wasn't eating all her lunch. It turns out that she regularly has three breakfasts which the staff cheerfully help her with.
Her room is nicely decorated and she has several pieces of furniture and paintings on the wall, making it home from home.
The communication from the staff is excellent - they will telephone if there is something to pass on about an aspect of Mum's care and are always available to talk and listen when I visit.
The activities are varied; Mum gets a lot out of meeting baby goats and lambs, singing and listening to the Banjo man, to name a few.

A good friend of mine has been living here for the past year. I visit her on a regular basis and I'm always impressed with the staff and facilities. Staff are attentive to not only the residents, but also guests. Special attention is paid to all aspects of residents, ensuring quality care. The
facilities are very well-kept, clean, welcoming, and beautifully decorated for the holidays. The home offers a range of engaging activities for residents to participate in on a daily basis. It is with pleasure I recommend Cambridgeshire Care Home.

Having to put your loved one into a home is the worst feeling ever. I cannot rate the whole team highly enough. All of the home staff have been brilliant not only to my husband but to me as well. Friendly chats with all staff, a very happy home from home to be in and visit.
22 January 2025
Superb care and good opportunities for residents to meet and chat. One downside, it would be better for the residents if more staff could speak English more clearly as most residents seem to be hard of hearing and this can make understanding difficult.
21 January 2025
My mother has lived at Cambridge Care Home for over two years, and we both agree that it could not have been a better choice.
It's a bright, welcoming place with comfy rooms, well-tended and attractive gardens, and plenty of space for the various activity groups to meet or just chat.
Having so
many on-site services like hairdressing and podiatry makes life easy and we love the Bistro when we're visiting for coffee and cake with Mum. Catering deserves a special mention as the meals are freshly prepared and are of a very high standard.
The staff are unfailingly cheerful, warm, friendly and efficient and always go the extra mile. It really feels like a home from home!
