My sister is now settling in really well. Her dementia is not too troublesome for her yet and she is able to join in lots of activities. her occasional anxiety is always allayed. The carers & well-being team are so kind to all the residents and I am very grateful that there was a space for my sister
when she needed it. I am also more than grateful for the support shown to me.

The staff at the care home work tirelessly to ensure that all residents receive top quality care.
My mother has been a resident for nearly three years and in that time we have never had any concerns regarding the care she receives.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming when we are arrive. We
are kept fully informed about any changes to our mother's health and wellbeing. When care is delivered to our mother it is done so with dignity and professionalism. The wellbeing team go out of their way to make sure there are a variety of activities on offer and include all residents in these no matter their circumstances.

It is our pleasure to be able to care for your mother and include her in the variety of activities available throughout the week. Although my mother is now bedbound the staff continue to be their caring and gentle selves. They try to involve her in some of the activities for example bringing up various animals for her to stroke (an especial pleasure for mum) and celebrating her birthday with a special cake as well as organising
for the hairdresser to come to her room to cut her hair and the podiatrist for her nails.
They helped make the move from one room to another a seamless process and mum loves the view of trees and birds from the window of her new room.
The regular reviews of mum's care plan keep us up to date and the Heads of Care always respond quickly to our requests. Michele on reception is always welcoming and makes us feel at home immediately - and knows my requirement for a delicious coffee and cake available from the bistro on arrival.
We are very happy with mum's overall standard of care and stand in awe of the dedication of all the staff.

Mum has been a resident of CCH since April 2024. Throughout her stay she has been treated with kindness, care and compassion by all the staff. They respect her wishes and provide her with cheerfulness and company. As we (her sons and daughters) live quite far away which means that we can't visit her
as much as we would like, it is lovely to know that she is being cared for so well.
Thank you to the lovely staff.

Every aspect of Cambridgeshire Care Home is excellent. The staff are caring and friendly, rooms are very pleasant. Mum enjoys the food, and there is a wide range of activities for those who want to take part. Mum particularly likes the well-maintained gardens and fountain, also the 'bistro' area for
coffee. I have felt very supported by the staff from the receptionists to the Heads of Care in Mum's unit. They were particularly helpful during the speedy transition from hospital - they went out of their way to make things as easy as possible for us. Thank you all!

My father has been in the Cambridgeshire Care Home for a week of respite care after an operation. My sister and I have been very impressed with the care that has been taken of him, to ensure a restful environment in which he can recuperate and maintain his regular post-op exercises.
The staff could
not have been more welcoming, from the day we took our parents to see round the care home, to when my father was welcomed there after being in hospital and every day since. All the staff, including the nurses, those who bring him his meals and the electrician who checked his electric fan that we provided from home, all led by the very able customer relations manager, have been smiley, friendly, reassuring and prompt at responding to his requests. All our emails have been responded to comprehensively and quickly. We have had a couple of useful calls from the nurses to bring us up to speed with things, which was reassuring and helpful.
The room my father is in is wonderful, and I believe, newly decorated.
Reply from Yvonne Quigley, Customer Relations Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful review of The Cambridgeshire Care Home. You have been a wonderful family to work with in jointly caring for your father, who has been a lovely Resident and has joined in so many of the activities and exercise classes. His recovery has been remarkable to see, he is very determined. I will share your glowing review with our Teams of Carers, Nurses, dedicated hospitality staff and Reception team. Thank you once again, looking forward to seeing you soon.

This is the best (and most expensive) respite fortnight. My wife has had 5 different cambridge care homes. The home was recently purpose built on the site of a BMW dealership and offers BMW level care at BMW prices. Included are varied activities, chiropody, hairdressing, good fresh cooked food (especially
soup) with attentive, friendly enthusiastic staff. Note that 14 days stay = 13 nights, as it says at the end pf the 14-page contract, but not at the start. Keep receipt of payment (we were temporarily asked for a new cheque after the old one paid in full) clothes, which were whisked away to the laundry but not always whisked back. If you want high quality respite care and can afford it, Cambridgeshire care home is the place to go
Reply from Yvonne Quigley, Customer Relations Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful review. We're delighted to know that your Wife had a very positive experience with us, and how our Team's dedication, freshly prepared meals, and the range of services made a meaningful difference during her stay.We appreciate your kind comparison to "BMW-level-care"-we offer exactly that standard of comfort, attention, and professionalism in everything we do. Your feedback about our quality food and enthusiasm of our staff is incredibly encouraging, this will be shared with the whole team. We are also grateful for your constructive comments, taking note about the contract regarding 14 day/13 night structure, we will review this as it can be misinterpreted. Similarly, we are looking into how we can further streamline our laundry service, with an almost full occupancy laundry can take up to 3 days to turnaround. Thank you once again for your review and choosing the Best Care Home in Great Shelford for respite care.

March has been a challenging month for my mum and the whole team have really offered her loads of infectious encouragement and confidence to do well with her exercises and mobility. They have always been there in a very supportive and understanding way and have created a programme that meets her new
challenges so that she can regain independence. Each time she feels a little dejected they are warm and encouraging. The PT and well being team have also gone out of their way to help and support her in her progress and without all this support I feel sure she would have languished and not been able to make the progress and gain some independence back.
Reply from Yvonne Quigley, Customer Relations Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you so much for such a wonderful review of your Mother's recovery, it is so encouraging and caring and really shows how our Carers and Wellbeing Teams, as well as our Strengthening and Conditioning Coach, can create such a positive outcome for Residents. Your Mother has embraced her recovery, it has been a delight to see her regain her confidence and independence. Thank you once again for your review I will be delighted to share this with the Teams.

I cannot thank this home enough for the care and support they give the families and residents.
We said a sad goodbye to the staff when we lost my father in February,. At the beginning of March my mother had a fall, and unable to care for her at home, I called the customer relations manager. Mum arrived
11 days ago, to the most wonderful warm reception and it feels like we've come home.
The staff work so hard, to ensure residents are well cared for, it cannot be easy if everyone calls at once, but they always arrive with a smile and nothing is too much bother.

My mother was a resident of the Gt. Shelford home and I think she had a marvellous time there. We had tried to look after her at home but it became apparent that even with 24-hour days of three shifts of care nurses and family members the good old family home was an issue.

At Gt. Shelford, the constant

attention, the very high level of care and, I must say, the equally high quality cuisine ensured that my mother's autumn months were spent wrapped within a mantle of mentally stimulating and physically comforting friendship of luxurious comfort.

Even after my mother passed, the customer relations manager and deputy home manager went out of their way to help the family with much emotional support. One may not realise it until afterwards, but the time, help and attention we received form all the staff at the Home was a substantial support during the time the family needed it the most. This is something more lies outside a 'business plan', it is humanity, friendship and the essence of 'care'.

Reply from Yvonne Quigley, Customer Relations Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you so much for your beautiful review of The Cambridgeshire Care Home highlighting our exceptional care, kindness, wonderful cuisine and activities for Residents and Families. We offer excellent palliative care, meeting Residents End of Life wishes, upholding the Gold Standard Framework of excellence. We feel honoured to have been able to care for your Mother and support you all as a Family. We look forward to seeing you again, you will always be part of our Family and are always welcome.

I am so happy we chose The Cambridgeshire Care Home for Mum. She is happier there than she has been in decades. She laughs a lot and makes the staff laugh, even though she is sliding into dementia.
The staff know her likes, dislikes and foibles. They clearly love her and are very attentive, treating
her with kindness and patience at all times.
Food is delicious, varied and plentiful. I was a little concerned on a recent visit that Mum wasn't eating all her lunch. It turns out that she regularly has three breakfasts which the staff cheerfully help her with.
Her room is nicely decorated and she has several pieces of furniture and paintings on the wall, making it home from home.
The communication from the staff is excellent - they will telephone if there is something to pass on about an aspect of Mum's care and are always available to talk and listen when I visit.
The activities are varied; Mum gets a lot out of meeting baby goats and lambs, singing and listening to the Banjo man, to name a few.

So glad you like your Mum's newly decorated room, it gives us great pleasure to update rooms with residents making independent choices towards their decor and surroundings. Very important that we are offering them these choices. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Superb care and good opportunities for residents to meet and chat. One downside, it would be better for the residents if more staff could speak English more clearly as most residents seem to be hard of hearing and this can make understanding difficult.
Reply from Yvonne Quigley, Customer Relations Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you for your review of The Cambridgeshire Care Home, we take your feedback very seriously. We realise it is difficult for some of our Residents, who are sometimes also hard of hearing, to understand conversation from time to time, despite all our staff having an excellent level of English, both spoken and written, which is assessed prior to employment. Our aim is to provide the best possible care to those we support; so we will be addressing your feedback to all our teams to remind them to address our Residents directly and give them time to respond. We are delighted that you recognise the opportunities we offer Residents to meet, make new companions, have a choice of activities and that we are encouraging and supporting them to carry on their hobbies and interests and to try new things. My mother has lived at Cambridge Care Home for over two years, and we both agree that it could not have been a better choice.
It's a bright, welcoming place with comfy rooms, well-tended and attractive gardens, and plenty of space for the various activity groups to meet or just chat.
Having so many
on-site services like hairdressing and podiatry makes life easy and we love the Bistro when we're visiting for coffee and cake with Mum. Catering deserves a special mention as the meals are freshly prepared and are of a very high standard.
The staff are unfailingly cheerful, warm, friendly and efficient and always go the extra mile. It really feels like a home from home!

What a fabulous Christmas celebration season The Cambridgeshire Care Home have given us. Where do I start?
The attention to detail of all the wonderful decorations including the amazing fairy lights well before the big day.
The spirit of the happy go lucky party atmosphere of the Winter Wonderland
enjoyed by all.
The wonderful memories of spending Christmas Day with my lovely mum enjoying a very tasty meal. The Cambridgeshire Care Home even assisted in putting our tables together with other residents which enhanced the party atmosphere. Nothing fazed the staff at all.
My mum has now been experiencing each and every day the best care we could have asked for after one year. We often remark she looks better now than she did one year ago.
I feel that Cambridgeshire Care Home are all extended family members. The love, care, transparency and consistent commitment is exceptional. We have no hesitation in recommending The Cambridgeshire Care Home to all we meet. Well done.

From early December The Cambridgeshire Care Home came more alive with lights, refreshments (mulled wine), energy and joy. The Winter Wonderland event was well attended, not to be missed next year, the food fabulous (as always) the entertainment and stalls, a great festive vibe. The staff go out of their
way to make sure the residents and their loved ones are included and catered for. Credit must go to the Home Manager and all the staff for putting on such a warm festive event.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has been at The Cambridgeshire Care Home since September 2024. We are so thrilled with the care she is receiving. The staff have been friendly, helpful and welcoming from the start and there is a great sense of family and care. Communication is very good and we have been kept in touch on any
issue, however small. Mum is living with quite severe dementia and needs a lot of stimulation. There are plenty of activities which families can also join in when visiting! Family and visitors are made so welcome at any time of the day and it feels as close to a home from home as such a place can do.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.828)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.828) out of 10 for The Cambridgeshire Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.828 for The Cambridgeshire Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (391 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 466 Ratings = 4.828
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cambridgeshire Care Home is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
