My father came to live in the care home last May. Right from the start, he was made to feel very welcome by all the staff and residents. His room is lovely, overlooking the very large and well-kept gardens.
There is a great program of activities each day which has really benefited my dad. When he
was at home he was getting really isolated. He has a new lease of life, it's great to see him so happy. He really enjoys his food it smells great. Presentation always looks good and it's really tasty. The sweet trolley is just like being at a hotel. Any problems that do come up are dealt with quickly. The care is very person-centred. The staff pick up very quickly if my dad is ill and let me know. I can sleep well at night now as I know he is in safe hands.
Reply from Angie Ryan, Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeMany thanks for your kind words Sarah. We are really glad you chose us to look after your dad. We appreciate your input with constructive comments and feedback when you visit and are glad that you are pleased with our home - I know you look at it as an extension of your own. Best wishes.

All the staff at the care home behaved with unconditional love and care for my father. The last 14 months of his wonderful life were enhanced because of this care which he deserved. It was beyond expectations and made us all feel highly valued. Being partially sighted Dad was vulnerable but he felt
in good hands and trusted his caregivers. The staff knew his favourite foods and his disabilities were embraced with care ensuring he had all he needed and more. Exemplary care and love was given at all times with a smile. Thank you very much.
Reply from Angie Ryan, Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you so much for your comments Clare - it means a lot. Your dad was marvellous and all the staff really enjoyed him being here. You are a devoted family and we are honoured that you trusted us to care for him.

My father passed away last night after spending the last 6 months at the Cambridgeshire Care Home. I cannot praise the home and staff highly enough. He loved staying there and made great friends with both staff and residents.
His room was extremely well furnished and comfortable with a great view
over the beautiful gardens. The facilities were excellent with a high standard of food which he thoroughly enjoyed and a wide range of activities on offer.
The staff were extremely caring, professional and friendly and took time to talk to him on a regular basis. They also went out of their way to make our family feel welcome whenever we visited and were very sensitive to the situation when he passed away. Having visited many care homes before choosing this one I can honestly say it is exceptional and would recommend it to anyone who needs a caring environment for themselves or loved ones. Many thanks to all the staff for making my fathers last few months so enjoyable.
Reply from Angie Ryan, Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you for your lovely review David. Your father was a very special man and we were privileged to have been able to look after him - we are all so sad it was for such a short time. As I said to you a few days ago, everyone loved him - he had such a kind and gentle way about him and I can understand why staff continued to seek advice and residents to discuss their ailments with him as he instilled confidence with his 'old school' GP demeanour. He will be greatly missed and myself and the team send our condolences and best wishes to all the family

This home is special, nursing was needed after a stay in hospital. Have chronic back pain plus osteoarthritis, I am unable to walk unassisted. All the staff are considerate, willing to help in any way they can. I have been treated with care and respect talking through any problems. I have seen the home
manager who is a qualified nurse and encouraged to raise any problems. The care staff some are quite young but well trained. Visitors can visit the bistro, have a drink with cake or a biscuit or fruit. Several of their friends now from hospitality, nursing care. Thank you to all.

I recently needed to find a really good care home which supplied respite for my 91-year-old Mum who also had some palliative care needs such as very regular pain relief and other medication. Having spent many years working as a community-based nurse, I was always going to be really fussy in looking
for the best patient care, staff who treated residents with absolute respect and kindness as well as an environment where my Mum felt comfortable and happy. I was so delighted with the attention to detail offered within the home. Excellent nursing care and a group of staff who all appear to truly enjoy what they do and genuinely care about the residents. Mum came home after a week saying how lovely everyone had been to her during the stay and I feel very confident about using the home again.
Reply from Angie Ryan, Manager at The Cambridgeshire Care HomeThank you Judy for your lovely review - we look forward to seeing your mum again soon.

The Cambridgeshire Care Home offers an excellent level of care and facilities for its residents. The rooms are of a high standard and the menus are both varied and nutritious. The staff are helpful and caring and responsive to the requests of residents and family. It is a bonus that hairdressing,
beautician, chiropody and optician services are all available in addition. As a family, we feel very lucky that a home of such standards is close enough for us to visit very regularly and gives peace of mind regarding the care that is delivered.

Dad came here for a week's respite care, his first stay in a care home, and was naturally quite nervous. He left today, relaxed and happy and looking forward to his next visit. My mum was able to get the rest she needed from being his primary carer, and we all had peace of mind of knowing that he
was being extremely well-cared for. Everything about the care home is excellent and it is a lovely environment to live in and to visit. The staff are attentive, caring and respectful, with a good sense of humour and a reassuring calmness and Dad could not have been in better hands. The facilities are great, the gardens are beautiful and the food outstanding. All the family were made welcome whenever we visited. I just hope that after all the excellent reviews there will be a place for Dad next time he wants to come!!

My mother was the first resident and is extremely happy.

My mother has stayed in two other care homes in Cambridge, one of which closed and the other was unsuitable. I visited no less than 18 other care homes in the vicinity before finding The Cambridgeshire Care Home.

In my experience, my

consistent rating of "Excellent" for The Cambridgeshire Care Home is well deserved.

I recommend The Cambridgeshire Care Home without reservation.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.828)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.828) out of 10 for The Cambridgeshire Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.828 for The Cambridgeshire Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (391 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 466 Ratings = 4.828
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cambridgeshire Care Home is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
