View Full Details of Mayflower CourtMy mother resided at Mayflower Court for the last year of her life. She had dementia and during this period she progressively deteriorated until finally passing away at the age of 98. Throughout her stay the staff were attentive and caring. Even when she became bed bound, they did everything they possibly could to ensure that her quality of life was as good as it could be. In the final weeks and days, working in conjunction with the district nurse, they made sure that she was pain and anxiety free, and at the end they were respectful and hugely supportive of the family. My wife and I would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the professionalism and warmth shown by all of the team members with whom we came into contact.
On 11th April 2024, at the age of 98, my Mum moved into Mayflower Court. She had lived in her council flat for 68 years, 43 of them on her own following the loss of my Dad in 1981. At the age of 99, Mum passed away peacefully in her sleep on 31st May. THANK YOU to all the staff at Mayflower Court, who treated my Mum with dignity, compassion, infinite patience and great kindness. Mayflower Court is a blueprint for dementia care.
My mum moved into May flower courts nearly2 years ago . I am so relieved she is really happy there and loves all the staff and I know they are fond of her too.we are informed asap if mum has any issues and the staff are great with communicating with us.the care home is always clean and tidy and there are regular activities for reside to enjoy . It's such a relief to know mum mum is well cared for Thankyou .
My mother was a resident at Mayflower from 2016 until January 2024. I could not thank the staff at Mayflower enough for their care of my mother over the years. At the end, she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. During Covid, the staff did everything they were allowed to ensure contact, maintaining this safety, that the residents needed contact with their family and the family needed contact with the residents. Thank you.
I am so pleased with the care my dad has had. All the staff are so nice. Two members of staff in particular have helped my family through a difficult time, so helpful if we need to ask anything.
My sister is currently a resident at Mayflower Court, which is the dementia care unit. She has been a resident for 8 months now and during this time, all the carers we've met when visiting have been very kind, caring and polite and always greeted politely by staff. The home is always very clean and tidy and has high standards of hygiene. The manager is a lovely lady and she runs the home proudly. We feel my sister is in a safe and caring environment and we as a family thank everyone at Mayflower for their care and support.
Keep going as you are, searching hard for the right staff. Just wanted to say how good the two care are with Mum; it is so good to hear from and see you interacting with Mum. Thank you to the other good staff whose names escape me - apologies. To the manager and her team, keep up the good work and good luck with all the training of the new staff. Thank you.
On returning to Mayflower Court following a trip to a cafe, I was impressed by the lovely atmosphere in the home, particularly in the lounge. Everyone was very relaxed and enjoying a game of bingo. Carers were present giving help where needed and they were relaxed and obviously enjoying a good rapport with their colleagues and were very attentive towards the residents. I witnessed this a few days later when residents were singing together with a different group of staff.
Everyone is polite, considerate and very helpful, no matter if you have a problem you can talk to the staff and it is dealt with immediately. Very clean and spotless.
Disgusted with this care home. When my aunt was able to have visitors in room six, this was not cleaned down from the previous visitor until I asked for it. The carer then asked another carer what did she have to do to it. Booked a visit in December on Tuesday after 4 pm for visit for Wednesday morning which was allocated after I told them my aunt was at end of life, but they failed to tell me that she had already passed away earlier, with no family with her. To this day they still did not contact me to cancel the appointment.
Having a loved one in a care home during a pandemic has been incredibly tough. However, the team at Mayflower have done lots to try and continue contact in different ways and keep us informed with our loved one's wellbeing and health. When doing a face to face visit, I always feel the staff do their best to ensure it is Covid safe for both their residents, staff and also us, the visitors. I will always be grateful to the team for all that they have done and continue to do for my dad and our family.
Mayflower Court was chosen out of our area over 2 years ago as it offered so much for us to remain as a family. 24-hour access, restaurant, shop, hairdresser, coffee shop. Staff are amazing and in spite of covid restrictions, we have been kept up to date with phone and video calls and visits, when allowed. My partner recently had extreme health care needs and I lived on-site as needed and cannot thank the staff enough for their care, kindness and absolute dedication to their job. As my partner's health improved I now have peace of mind believing that he is in an excellent placement where he is treated with dignity and respect and where families are welcomed and supported. Obviously, without covid limitations, more facilities were available allowing us to have family parties etc, therefore my ratings have been based on that. I cannot thank the Mayflower team enough for everything they have done. Well done everyone you are awesome!
I would like to thank all the staff at Mayflower Court for the expert care and devotion they give, especially over the last terrible months, I have always seen them as caring individuals but lately while taking Skype calls with Mum I have seen first hand how much she trusts them and her little smiles of appreciation when they are close. It helps us as a family to cope with this long separation to know that she is settled in her environment, surroundings and friendships. Thank You.
My mother moved into Mayflower Court in November 2019. She took a little while to settle in, however, the management team and care staff really took it upon themselves to make her feel very welcome. She has a lovely room and is offered plenty of activities during the day to keep her active. The food is always prepared to a high standard and we, as a family, also have the opportunity to eat with my mum should we wish to do so, in the restaurant on site. The staff are very approachable and go out of their way to help with any queries. The staff share ideas to help us family members participate in keeping our loved ones happy and included in their day to day lives. It has been especially hard during the recent lock-down, however, the Activity Team have ensured we have kept in contact with our mum via Skype calls, which has been really lovely. Well done to you all.
My mother has been a resident at Mayflower Court since it was opened and has always been well looked after. the staff have always been helpful, welcoming and caring, despite the difficult challenges that this dreadful illness brings upon a person. Also when we have had to communicate any concerns they have listened and done their best to resolve any issues. We also appreciate the updates from the care home that we are receiving and the pictures they have sent, so we still can keep in touch, through these difficult times when we are not able to see my mother. We are so grateful that all this support is in place to care for loved ones who undergo such a debilitating illness, and we can't thank the staff enough, they are indeed heroes.
Personally, over the last few months, I was worried about Covid-19 in care homes, the staff at Mayflower court done a superb job in keeping my mum and residents and staff safe. We were unable to visit for a few months, however, activities team done a great job setting up Skype calls to residents which were a relief to me and my siblings. Staff very good at helping my mum on a day to day basis, not forgetting nurse practitioner on-site who visits mum regularly. Managers email us all weekly with updates, ideas, photos, etc which is great. Many many thanks to all the staff at Mayflower Court and keep up great work. Stay safe and take care.
My mum has been a resident at Mayflower Court since it opened and I cannot praise the staff and managers enough for the excellent care she has been given in that time. Her needs are always taken care of in a friendly, efficient and very caring manner. Myself and my sisters are always contacted should there be any concerns and there is always someone to talk to with any worries. I would like to thank them all for everything they do. She also has a lovely, bright ensuite room overlooking the garden.
Lack of professionalism and contact when a complaint is made, another person is contacted to discuss the complaint and pass messages, in turn making matters worse. When an adult family member over 18 calls confidentially, that matter should be discussed with the person that complained, no one else. Unfortunately, this is one of many things that should not happen at the residential home that continues to happen sadly and the manager is one of them.
My father has been a resident of the Mayflower Court Bowthorpe Care Village since November 2019. He sadly passed away on 9th April. I cannot thank the carers enough for how they treated him from day one until his sad passing. Every time I visited him I noticed the care they gave everyone there. I and my family will always be grateful to each and every one of these special people.
My mother had very good dementia care and when she was diagnosed with cancer she received excellent palliative care. Staff were kind and caring. Good facilities for visitors at the care village.
