View Full Details of St Brendans Care HomeMy friend has been a resident of St Brendan's for several years now. I have visited her on many occasions and have always been so very impressed by how caring, compassionate and supportive all the staff have been. They are led by a wonderful, hands on manager who since arriving at St Brendans has been instrumental in making further improvements to an already outstanding home. She is a credit to St Brendans, as are all the staff. If any of my friends or family needed a care home, I would have no hesitation in recommending St Brendans to them. Many thanks to everyone for all the amazing work you do.
My Aunt has been a resident at St Brendan's for nearly seven years and has received excellent care throughout her time there. When we first suggested the possibility of a care home she wasn't at all keen, but she settled in really well and we noticed that a lot of worries and concerns seemed to disappear as she began to enjoy being looked after by the kind and caring staff, many of whom are still at St Brendan's today. Both former and current staff have always put the needs of the residents first and we have never had any issues of concerns about the care my aunt receives. As the years have passed, the committed and pro-active staff have adapted to my Aunt's increasingly challenging care requirements, which have no doubt put extra pressure on the staff and the care home itself. However, the excellent manager and her staff do all they can to meet the needs of the residents to enable them to remain here as long as they, or their relatives, wish that to happen. Thoroughly recommended.
Highly recommended . friendly and helpful staff always keeps me informed on my mother's health and needs. My mothers been here now for nearly two years she said wish could have come earlier as she has made friends here and very happy .
St Brendans is lovely to my Uncle and we are delighted with the care he receives. They treat him as an individual. The staff are very friendly, approachable, kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and very willing to help.
My husband cannot walk/stand. He has Alzheimer's plus many other problems. His care is immaculate. No worries at all.
Our father had lived in his own house for 67 years when we had to finally submit to being cared for in a residential home at the age of 95 in December 2023. St Brendans was one of a number of homes we looked at and we were very reassured from the outset. Father was 'quite the challenge' being three years suffering from Alzheimer's (Dementia) and still fighting it! St Brendans' staff were very accommodating to father's less acceptable habits (borne of the illness) some of which were quite antisocial and perhaps regarded as offensive. The staff dealt with these issues thoroughly and professionally, with no blame on father, total understanding of the disease and with exceptional good humour. We are unable to name names here due to the review policy but there was not a staff member we would not wish to single out for praise. It was always a pleasure to visit Father at St Brendan's simply because the staff were always so genuinely cheerful, well informed and concerned. Thank you to all!
It’s hard enough going through this devastating illness. When you are thrown into the world of care, you want to be able to deal with supportive people who are helpful and maybe even a much-needed friend. I’m sure there are some staff here who do this and try their best. Sadly though we did not have a good experience. Close supervision on day one appeared lacking which meant our relative was not kept safe. It was distressing to hear they were going to ‘put my elderly loved one into a taxi to my home’. Money appeared to be a priority over mental well-being and we were pushed to pay for 1:1 care. No one appeared to investigate our loved one’s mental health or well-being until they reached a crisis point. Most reputable care settings would encourage honest and open reviews/feedback and find ways to work with relatives. This one appeared to close it down and instructed us not to talk to staff. I’m not an expert but the lack of compassion felt abusive and negligent.
My mother has been at St Brendans for 5 weeks now, she has settled in marvellously, her mobility on arrival was not good but the excellent work the staff have done for her is so amazing. She is always smiling and loves the attention she is receiving. This gives us such a peace of mind.
My mother moved in during July this year. She will be 98 this month and has lived independently. She decided she needed more help so we viewed St Brendans. She is content with her move and we (the family) are pleased with her care.
My brother-in-law resided here for approximately two weeks. He was extremely well cared for at all times and the staff went out of their way to assist both him and his visitors, even going so far as to make arrangements for me to return to Crowthorne station following my visits. Kindness and compassion were exhibited by every member of staff I came into contact with. He was treated with the utmost dignity and respect throughout his time there and I would recommend this home without reservation. I would also like to thank all members of staff who came into contact with my brother-in-law - their care and attention really was second to none.
Mum has been at St Brendans for over a year, having previously been in another care home following a stroke which affected her mobility. Throughout Mum’s time at St Brendans, she has been treated with the utmost respect, and her care has been first-class. The care home manager does an excellent job, and my family and I only wish we had been aware of St Brendans sooner. I am kept well informed of Mum’s care, and admin matters are immediately addressed. The food is very good, and the menus offer a wide variety of choices. The home is always clean, tidy and welcoming. There are plenty of activities and services available to the residents. Very importantly, Mum is happy at St Brendans, and I can sleep at night knowing that she is well looked after and cared for. My family and I are always made welcome, and the staff are kind and friendly. I have no complaints whatsoever and highly recommend St Brendans to any family looking for a safe and well-run care home for their loved one.
Since Mum joined as a full-time resident six months ago, we have been very happy with St Brendans. In particular, the friendliness and care shown by the staff have made the transition as smooth as possible for such a life-changing moment. Visitors are always made feel welcome, and the atmosphere is always positive whenever I visit. The lead staff are very open to discussing any health or well-being issues that we may have regarding Mum's care. The regular activity programme led by a very enthusiastic coordinator provides opportunities for my mum to mix with other residents and try new things. I can recommend St Brendans without reserve.
I have been very pleased with the way my relative is cared for. She has always been treated with dignity and respect. The home is warm and comfortable, and my relative appears content. I am kept well informed of matters concerning her.
My mother has been a resident at St Brendans Care Home since she was discharged from hospital in October 2021. She has dementia and had started to wander outside at night and sometimes fall over. It has been a great relief to me that she is being cared for in such an excellent care home. St Brendans looks after her incredibly well. She always seems very happy, calm, relaxed and well whenever I visit. She enjoys the food, the garden and the company of the lovely, friendly staff as well as being able to chat to the other residents. The care home staff are very welcoming to me and are always able to update me on my mother's daily life. If my mother has any health or behaviour problems I am always contacted by a senior member of the staff to discuss and agree any actions. I looked at several care homes locally before my mother was admitted and St Brendans, with its homely, welcoming atmosphere, was my first choice.
My mother has been in St Brendan's since April 2022 with dementia. After a terrible experience at another care home, we were very cautious about St Brendan's. However, there was no need to be. The level of care for the residents is excellent, the facility is fantastic, and the provision of food, entertainment and interaction is first class. The staff are very well led, and all get along not only with the residents but also with each other, which I'm sure can be difficult in the circumstances they sometimes find themselves in. I am extremely happy that my mum is being well cared for by an excellent team.
My mother has been a resident since November 2021. The care she has received in this superb facility has been outstanding. I know she is really happy there, and it has been great to see her come to life again in her twilight years. I am delighted that we have found such a happy, friendly, caring, professional environment for her to live.
Thank you for taking such good care of my father during his recent stay with you until he passed away. He settled in quickly, and it was heartening to hear that he was taking part in activities, was part of a social group, and that he remained the gentleman in his final weeks that he was throughout his life. It was reassuring that you took the Covid precautions so seriously, but that you didn't let this detract from making us feel welcome when we visited. Moving a parent into a care home is never going to be easy, but from our initial visit, your care, consideration and thoughtfulness, left us in no doubt that we had made the right decision and that his final weeks were as stress-free as possible for both my father and the rest of his family.
My wife was very well cared for as far as I could tell, given the conditions during the pandemic.
The staff have been lovely and caring towards my mum. She went into St Brendans in September 2020 and will be joining my father at his home next week. It has been difficult for everyone during Covid. Staff have always been polite and willing to help when I have called despite all the pressures and measures in place. As I haven't been able to come into the home I haven't been able to grade some of the options below.
I feel extremely grateful every day that my mother is in this amazing home. All the carers looked after my mother with kindness and dignity. Any queries I have, always promptly answered. All have worked so hard to allow visiting with PPE when home, not lockdown - I was so grateful for this.
