My 100 year old mum arrived at Chawley Grove after a fairly traumatic time having been advised by her previous care home that it would be closing in two months time. Choosing a care home for a loved one is never easy, particularly when there is a deadline involved.....
After two or three false
starts with other care homes in the Oxford area we came across Chawley Grove which ticked all the boxes that needed to be ticked, plus one or two others. Mum finally moved in on the 13th November last year and, whilst clearly apprehensive, has settled in very well and is clearly well looked after.

My mother has just come to this Care Home after being looked after in her own home by a carer. Her mobility needs meant that she needed more care and we were far away. We were given lots of information before she came which was very helpful as it was a big move and very unsettling for us all.
Everyone here at Chawley Grove has made her feel welcome and the staff are very kind and cheerful , nothing is too much trouble for them and we are always greeted with a smile.
My mother has a lovely room and she is really settling down now and enjoying the food prepared by the chef, especially the extras like milkshakes ! I like the Bistro!
I can highly recommend this Home as and feel that my Mother is well cared for here , speaking as a former Nurse myself.

When I was looking for a care home for my mother, I had a list of criteria and visited around 25 places, based on criteria corresponding to my mother's needs. Most important were cleanliness, friendliness, safety and respect. My mother spent the last three years of her life in Chawley Grove, where
most importantly she was cared for to the point where I felt the young carers became fond of her.How many care homes even have a cleaning person willing to interrupt her duties to find a resident's specs or newspaper ,or share a joke with them? Loneliness is probably one of the worst experiences in a care home, but here the activities on offer meant everyone was encouraged to join in but none were forced- their choices were respected. Suggestions from relatives were taken into consideration. Eating together is encouraged. The provision of a high standard of hairdressing helps residents to maintain their self respect. Some of the young carers offered the ladies manicures too.

When my mother came to Chawley Grove she was unwell, worried and confused. After a month she has totally relaxed, her health has improved, she's eating well and generally enjoying life again. The care and kindness at Chawley Grove is fantastic and the staff are friendly, helpful and supportive. Mum
is looking forward to getting involved in more activities which look varied and interesting. It's lovely to know she's being looked after so well.

We looked at plenty of care homes before finding chawley grove. The atmosphere of the building is warm and friendly but has a luxurious hotel feel. The staff are all smart but don't wear a uniform - which we love as it makes it feel very like a family. My wife and I were invited to lunch and it was
superb. The chef and his team made us feel very special. What we especially like is the assortment of activities on offer at the homes There is simply something for everyone and it's impressive that all the staff seem to be enjoying themselves. There is a lot of energy in the activist team and it seems to be infectious
Family members are invited to join in and there is great entertainment on offer. We had lots of questions prior to the move in and the response from the manager was quick. Informative and helpful. It really does seem like nothing is too much trouble. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a home for their loved one.

We've been at Chawley Grove for the last 7 months and my relative loves his time! The staff are very warm and kind and get involved with all aspects of the care- which is very different from the other care homes that we looked at. The bistro is warm and friendly and the chef prepares cakes everyday!
The enrichment planner is circulated every week and they have so many things on offer, it's great. Management take the time to get to know exactly what is important to us and that is wonderful. We would highly recommend

Mum's care at Chawley Grove has been wonderful. All the staff have been so friendly and caring towards her, and also supportive to me, as I have been unwell. Mum always looked immaculate, and her room was always clean and tidy. I have also been amazed at the variety of activities available every day
for the residents, so important. I really could not have chosen a better home the whole atmosphere there from reception/office to carers and other staff is one of warmth, kindness and care/concern. Thank you Chawley Grove for taking such good care of mum!!

My mother resided at Chawley Grove Care Home from September 2023 until she sadly passed away on December 19th 2024.
I had always been happy with mum's care but it wasn't until she became ill in December 2024 that I realised what an outstanding home that Chawley is - The manager was amazing and very
sympathetic to assisting us in allowing mum to die in her home where she was loved and cared for rather than a hospital. In her final days, the love and care provided by the Chawley Team was such a support to me and my family that it made a very difficult time more bearable. During those final days when we stayed there night and day I was able to witness first hand just how well run the home is and how the residents are well cared for and indeed how they cared for me and my family. If you are looking for a true home where your loved one is treated with love and respect, for then look no further, you have found it in Chawley Grove.

I spent a fortnight's respite at Chawley Grove to help my convalescence after surgery on a fractured wrist and it proved to be one of my better decisions in life. The care and attention I received from the whole team at the home was outstanding. I wanted for nothing, the food was excellent and the
warmth of the staff, both individually and collectively was palpable. The facilities, decor, and general ambience is first rate and the whole atmosphere promotes a feeling of being comfortably at home as soon as you walk in the door.
There is a varied and imaginative entertainment programme, broad-ranging enough to encompass the varying levels of abilities of the residents and provide little pockets of fun and laughter in what could so easily become a mundane routine. As a fairly well person, I was very impressed with the level of dedication, respect, and unpatronising compassion shown by the staff to people who are quite poor and need TLC, whilst preserving their dignity.

Unable to manage at home post-operatively I stayed at Chawley Grove for a month to regain my strength and to increase both my mobility and confidence. Being well looked after so professionally with access to medical and physiotherapy support enabled me to prepare for returning home.
Chawley Grove
is welcoming in every way, from the first enquiry to the knowledge that if it was necessary there would be a warm welcome further down the line for a return.
Thank you.
