please let me introduce myself my name is Rachel and my mum(sylvia) is a resident at smyth lodge. and has been for 2 and a half years and is extremely happy as are we as a family.
i wanted to spend the night with mum and spoke to Tracey and she was so accommodating and made it happen for me. as i
used to stay with her regularly and i've really missed that part. when i arrived for my sleep over lol mum and i were presented with a pamper hamper loads of goodies face masks. nail varnish sweets drinks all sorts a girlie stuff you would want i was truly touched and so was mum. All the staffe need a big pat on the back for making my night special for me and my mum she loved waking up and seeing me on the zed bed we had a great time. the staff on duty couldn't of done and more for us. and the food was delicious. i have a french bull dog and he comes in every visit and is well known now in the home. he so friendly and i take him round to the residents to meet him they love him.

Dad has been here since October and has settled well, any interaction we have with staff has been positve and are always pleasant and keep us up to date with any concerns.

From my first visit to Smyth Lodge 2 1/2 years ago to the day my mum died it felt like a caring community. I always felt welcomed by all the staff and knew immediately that my mum would not only be cared for but loved. The staff go above & beyond to look after their residents. Her room was well
furnished and kept clean & her laundry was always done regularly. The meals were well planned & the dining room was like a restaurant! The communal areas were sociable areas to enjoy & the garden was beautiful. The activities were well organised & there was something for everyone. As mum became more frail & needed more care the staff were patient & kind trying to make her last days as comfortable as possible. Words cannot describe how grateful I was to entrust my mum to this home & I will be forever grateful.

Wonderful atmosphere over the xmas period. Every resident is made to feel special with a visit from Santa & a gift. Inclusive xmas day dinner. Plus the care doesn't stop. On numerous/daily occasions I see one to one time taken spent with residents helping them feel safe & heard not to mention the
activities which are great.

I have been here for 3 months. Not had any issues to date, find all staff pleasant & helpful.

I was invited to a wreath making event, the staff were very engaging & made it fun. There was lots to do and everyone seemed to enjoy it as much as I did. I regularly go to events and have always enjoyed them. They do seem to put a lot of effort into keeping their residents occupied and happy.

We are very pleased with the care that dad is getting. In a particular medical situation the staff were extremely attentive to his needs, which prevented the need to go to hospital, for which we are very grateful.

My father was a resident at Smyth Lodge from September 2024 until his death, one week short of his 98th birthday, in August 2025. The facilities and standard of care at Smyth Lodge are excellent and my father enjoyed a greatly improved quality of life during his 11 months there. All the staff were
so caring towards him and everyone I came into contact knew of his needs and wants. It really did feel that Smyth Lodge was his home and not just an institution in which he was a resident. Visiting him was a pleasure, from the always warm greetings from all the staff to having a morning chat with him over the excellent coffee and pastries in the coffee bar and a post-lunch glass of beer or wine in the bar or garden.
It is a special place staffed by a special team.

It's like living in a first-class hotel. The food is like being in a restaurant. The very first person who welcomed me was the team leader, she treated me like a family member. All the staff treat me very well. I am very happy here. It's like living with a big family.

Our father had been a resident at Smyth Lodge for about 17 months before he sadly died in January this year and the care he received was outstanding to the extent that the carers didn't just care for him, they loved him. The staff were very kind and patient with him as he had dementia and they
called him 'Mr Grateful' as he was exactly that, always thanking them for everything they did to make him as comfortable as possible. I would recommend Smyth Lodge to anyone looking for somewhere for a family member. I should also add the staff were always supportive to the family members and a number of them have said they would like to attend his funeral. He will make his final journey from the care home to the church for the funeral service - a testament to how much we have appreciated everything the staff did for him.

Your staff allowed my brother to die with dignity in his room where he was safe and very well looked after. Thank you to all the staff. My family are very thankful.

My husband had 3 weeks of respite care and he enjoyed his stay. I could tell it was a very caring home, so I was pleased to leave him in their care. I will definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Great Christmas market, it was a pleasure to return here and to be involved. Good atmosphere and a happy time meeting the residents and their families.

My mother has been a resident at Smyth Lodge for two years and is very happy there.
The rooms are spacious, extremely well-appointed, and cleaned to a very high standard.
The dining room is warm and friendly and the food is excellent. There are activities for the residents every day
The care
received is first class. The staff are wonderful, and very professional but also kind, caring, supportive, and helpful not only to the residents but the family members as well.

Mum has been in Smyth Lodge for nearly three years and is so happy and well cared for. The staff are so kind and supportive, and there are always plenty of activities to keep the residents stimulated.
I would recommend this home to anyone looking for somewhere for a family member.
Mum is now 98
and determined to still be there for her 100th birthday.

Our uncle has been at Smythe Lodge for almost 2 years. He has Dementia and other serious health issues. Since day 1 he settled so happily there and has received excellent care at Smythe Lodge. The team does an amazing job in ensuring residents feel included as part of the community with kindness and
care. There are many things to keep residents engaged and feel included. Cafe community, arts, crafts, nostalgia, music, films.
Our uncle's health condition has recently required the staff to be more vigilant and they have acted so quickly, and efficiently without hesitation to ensure the correct help was given to him so that he recovered, we cannot fault the love, care, kindness he has been given since arriving there.
They constantly communicate with us as a family to ensure we are kept up-to-date and informed. It's such a relief and comfort to us as a family to be able to go to sleep at night knowing he's safe and in such good hands.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone at Smythe Lodge.

Very happy with the care home. The team there are very caring, always happy, and friendly. Would recommend it. All residents seem happy and contented. Always something for them to do. It's kept nice and clean and tidy.

The staff at Smyth Lodge have always been helpful and kind, all our requests have always been accommodated and nothing seems to be too much trouble. They considered the requirements of our mother before she became a resident and have been providing her care ever since. Everything they do is always
discussed with the family and we are alerted to any problems that arise. Smyth Lodge itself is always clean and tidy and the facilities and events are run to a very high standard. The internal security at Smyth Lodge works well and it gives us confidence in our mother's safety.

My sister has been a resident since November 2019.
She has both physical and mental needs.
The quality of care has been truly excellent.
Staff are always very kind and understanding always trying to engage her in the many activities that take place on a daily basis so she can interact with other
residents.
They keep me fully informed every month when she is resident of the day of any issues that they feel I need to be aware of.

Excellent care home with good facilities and a great atmosphere. The staff have been brilliant in looking after my aunt. Always professional and courteous and, most importantly, very caring. I highly recommend Smyth Lodge.
