My Mother has been a resident of Benson House since the summer of 2025. We are especially pleased with the level of kindness and helpfulness of the staff. The cleanliness of her room and common areas and the good food, including High Teas with delicious cakes, mean that Mum is very happy both with
her room and her care. The activities are varied and she enjoys joining in with everything including Balloon Badminton, seated exercises and lots of singing. However, if she wants a break and some peace and quiet then there are plenty of places she can just sit and watch the world go by. Whenever she has needed medical attention the local GP, working with the care home staff, visits her, and gives a level of care that affords us all peace of mind.
The local church includes the home with visits and services, which is very inclusive and uplifting. Its lovely that whatever time we are able to visit, we are made to feel part of the community too.
A big thank you to you all.

The staff were kind and helpful although some seemed to require better training . I had to ask on several occasions for my water jug to be refilled this should have been done twice a day My room was comfortable and the furniture was in keeping it was nice to have a fridge. A bedside light would have
been appreciated as I found the centre chandelier too bright.
The food was not acceptable as what was written on the menu was often not what was produced . Often cold and the chef / cooks had no idea what ingredients are required to make certain meals and presentation poor also lack of green vegetables . There must be a great deal of food wasted. Considering I was visited in hospital and asked what I like to eat you couldn't even provide natural yogurt. Frankly the hospital food was better.

I am very happy to have found Benson House Care home. It is warm, luxurious and welcoming with smiling staff and residents, beautifully furnished and with excellent food and surroundings.
The Manager came to visit us when we were hoping my husband would be admitted. When she came, I observed with
great admiration the highly professional and very experienced way in which she handled my dementing and tetchy husband. A bond was formed between them through mutual medical work experience. (he is a retired doctor).
When he arrived for admission at the Home, she was waiting for him with open and welcoming arms and assuring him they would look after him.
The horror and exhaustion accompanying a rapidly progressive dementia will be recognised by all who experience it. I can only say that my husband's admission has provided me with great relief. I feel he is in the best possible place and cared for by the best possible people. I am extremely grateful.

As a family we chose Benson House for its light surroundings, lovely garden and open spaces to spend time with our loved one when visiting. The rooms are lovely and clean.
The majority of Carers we cannot fault: for their empathy and kindness, to both our Mum and to us as a family.
There has
been more frustration with comms and management. We don't always hear back. It seems like simple systems could be put in place to help new families with no idea how a Care Home works. We sometimes worry about the staffing numbers and think more knowledge of dementia would be helpful. The Carers and Nurses do their best with what they know. Leaving a loved one in someone else's hands is a huge thing. Benson House has the potential to become truly excellent with better management.

Mum lived at Benson House for just over 3 years. From the outset it was clear that she had entered a modern,
clean, tidy, and loving home. She received exemplary care from the many kind
personable carers who fussed over her with busy hands and friendly smiles on
a daily basis. Visitors were
treated with the same genial courtesy, invited
to share the hot drinks and delicious cakes which mum enjoyed so much.
She celebrated her 90th birthday in some style up in a room on the first
floor with friends, family, and staff alike. As her physical health
deteriorated and she became essentially bed bound, the carers and
nursing staff continued their duties regularly turning her in bed to prevent
pressure sores, which she never suffered from as a result of their diligence.
In her final week of life this excellent care continued and an
appropriate end-of-life pathway was embarked on with the emphasis being on maintaining her dignity to the end.
Care homes do not come any better than this.

My almost 90 year old father has spent a couple of periods in respite care at Benson House where he has been looked after by the kind and experienced staff there. It's been a huge relief to the family knowing that he is in safe hands, and we've been made to feel very welcome whenever we spend time
with him there. Benson House has been really understanding and responsive to situations when they've proved urgent and always demonstrate patience and a very personal approach. They handle delicate situations with consideration, respect and professionalism and we have hugely appreciated the care they have been taking of him.

I would like to thank Benson House for the outstanding care they all gave my brother, Patrick, during his three months of care. Everyone was so kind to him and the facilities there were second to none. Unfortunately Pat passed in their care and the dignity given to him will always be remembered by
all his family and friends.

Our uncle only had 3 months in Benson House. As a family we were impressed with everyones friendliness and professionalism. He required some specialist care to keep him comfortable. This was achieved. He shared jokes with the nursing staff and was never in pain. The staff are thoughtful and
compassionate we have been happy that he was able to pass his last 3 months in such a good place. He never left his room and had difficulty with his appetite hence the satisfactory ratings below. Thank you for looking after our uncle.

My husband has been at Benson House for nearly three years and during that time has had the most marvellous care from every member of the staff, be it nursing, wellbeing, administrative or maintenance. The care and consideration given to him has been exemplary in all aspects. The home is always
beautifully clean, bright and welcoming and the gardens are well tended. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and very professional. A great weight was removed from my shoulders when my husband came to live at the home. The staff have also given much support to me at difficult times which is much appreciated.
I visited several care homes before choosing this one and I can highly recommend Benson House as being the best in the area.

My husband came to live at Benson House in August 2025. We are both pleased that he is safely there - it is a real home.
His room is lovely and he is enjoying having some personal possessions around him.
The staff are lovely, so kind and caring, but 'professional' all the time. The food is
amazing with a very wide choice. He says the days pass quickly, in no small part due to the wellbeing team. As a visitor I always feel welcome.
