In my experience, standards of care at Grand View Care Home were concerning. Hygiene was often poor; my father was frequently found wet or soiled and regularly looked and smelled dirty.
He spent all day, every day in a filthy, stinking wheelchair and was only supported to sit in a normal chair 3
times in 21 months. Since moving to a new care home, he is now seated in a normal chair daily.
Residents with advanced dementia were often not included in activities and left in the lounge for hours without supervision. The TV was frequently on inappropriate programmes such as Crimewatch and modern action films.
My father experienced numerous falls, many I believe were avoidable, e.g., seatbelt not fitted or seat alarm not on or with dead batteries. In my view, care plans and risk assessments did not always appear followed.
When concerns were raised, this led to multiple threats and issuing of contract termination. I am only able to leave this review now as my father has moved care homes.

Grand View Care Home does not take accountability and seems to shape a narrative to suit its own agenda. Based on my experience, senior management, the board, and owners cannot be relied on to handle concerns appropriately. My father suffered a fall and was left on the floor unattended whilst
waiting for an ambulance to arrive, yet the exact 53 minutes of CCTV footage covering this was lost, even though footage from both sides of the missing section was available. When I raised concerns, his contract was terminated. Although later revoked, I faced unfounded allegations, along with visiting restrictions that felt intended to discourage me from speaking up. A single vague document was produced after I requested supporting evidence, a statement was also provided which I maintain is false and contradicted actual recorded minutes of a meeting. Since moving my father to a new care home we couldn't be happier, his care is night and day different, he is settled and much more like his old self.

My wife died on February 26th this year and was resident of Grand View care home having been diagnosed with dementia. Since September 2024 she has had the very best care possible and I can't praise the home and especially the staff enough. Throughout her stay she was so well looked after with very
good food and terrific entertainment that my wife readily joined in on but by far the most important was the the care for her which was outstanding. The best example of this was on the night before she died one of the care staff, after I left at 7.30pm went to her room andstayed with her all night saying that she didn't want her to be alone in her last hours. I have not seen such compassion in my lifetime before.

The care my cousin received was excellent. Unfortunately, she booked herself in when she could no longer manage at home. Her room had a balcony and beautiful views. The rooms are clean and well presented. It gives the impression of a high wit quality hotel and the food is very good. My cousin had a
very painful and unpleasant death but the staff were really good and made her time there as pleasant as they possibly could. This includes chasing the GP, MacMillan and facilitating the right pain relief. My cousin enjoyed the finer things in life so chose Grand View for her final weeks. Her family from Germany commented that it was like a very good hotel and also praised the staff for their kindness, professionalism, and care they provided. Unfortunately I cannot recall all their names but we would like to thank everyone that gave my cousin such great care. If you are looking for a great home for your loved ones I cannot recommend The Grand View Care Home enough.

I am an advocate for a resident who has resided at Grand View since November 2021 living, firstly on the ground floor, moving to the 2nd, nursing floor, a few months ago. Her care is overall excellent. She's always in clean clothes, is comfortable and well fed.
The ratio of staff to resident at GV
is good, sometimes boosted by agency workers who are mostly familiar to the residents. I understand that recruitment has secured additional carers which should minimise the need for this, however.
Although my resident does not partake in the activities on offer (which are many and varied) she does enjoy the one to one connections given.
Overall, Grand View provide a safe, professional place offering support and personal care which is excellent.

I have lived in Grand View for over a year and now call it my home. We are well cared fr by the staff. Who are willing to give us time with the tasks of living and are also helpful, listening to worries and meals, comforting and patient on down & sad days. We are encouraged to take advantage of the
good days in the garden either to sit quietly or join in one of the many activities planned by the entertainment staff. We are offered a choice of meals each day & can choose from an additional menu if preferred. Outside entertainment come frequently, music and games, visits from animals are particularly enjoyable. Someone is always on call for help, day and night. I am very pleased to have this home recommend by my daughter, where I can end my days comfortable and happy. This home is bright, airy and very comfortable. The care both day and night is very good. The meals are to our own choice, varied and attractively served. Notie is taken of any problems and helped by the staff, and personal preferences are noted. Help is always available. There are plenty of visiting entertainment offered and contact with the local community.

the management and staff are not only highly professional but also very caring in their contact with residents and their family.
They always have the residents wellbeing at heart, ensuring that they are happy and as active as they are able.
From the carers to the activities team, hairdresser,
maintenance team, kitchen staff and the laundry team, nothing is too much trouble, an ethos which is fully encouraged by the management team.
Overall, this is a very supportive and caring care home which also reflects the input of the owner who can often be seen at the coal face and always has a friendly word for everyone

I have been in Grand View for 5 weeks to recuperate from an operation. My husband had been in here previously for a year so I knew the home well and had always been impressed by the care he received.
The staff are so patient and kind and go out of their way to attend to all your requirements and
pleasures. I would say that most of them go that "extra mile" to make you happy.
The home is very well run by a delightful manager who takes a personal interest in every resident and all the staff including nurses, carers, kitchen staff, activity staff, cleaners and admin are most efficient and so friendly and carry out their work with a smile. The food is exceptional, varied and all residents are given alternatives to the daily menu. The activities on offer are excellent and led by a jolly team making the days enjoyable.
Not forgetting the support from very competent staff such as the hairdresser and chiropodist.
I have been very happy here and the care I have received has been wonderful.

Very nice environment where the staff provide fantastic care and where nothing is too much trouble. We have peace of mind knowing that my sister is safe and secure and safeguarded. She can choose to join in activities if she wishes and can forego them if she doesn't wish to. Would highly recommend.

Grand View Care Home has improved my dads quality of life with all the activities and pastoral care as a family we don't need to worry about him, he has dementia and doesn't remember the fun he's had but we see it on social media, a brilliant clean lovely environment and I couldn't pick one person
as they all have worth. Thank you.

Mum was moved in from the hospital - she went into floor 1 and was very well looked after by all staff - Senior nurses looked after mum very well and kept us informed at all times. Big shout out to them and also another 2 carers who looked after my mum so well. The pink team ladies are brilliant and
very inclusive of all residents. Good sized rooms. Lovely little coffee area to share with family and residents - could be bigger. The 1:1 was a challenge and some of them did not appear very clued up. Downside for me is the cost.

My husband has been at Grand View since April 2024 but this review is for his last month there. End-of-life care is different for everyone but the support and care from the nursing team and management at Grand View Care Home for my husband and myself was amazing. Thank you all.
20 January 2025
Following a few years of hospital and care home stays which had been stressful experiences, my husband moved to Grand View, where he was a resident for the last 3 months of his life. The whole staff team made it a peaceful, happy friendly experience for both him and his family. The care could not
have been better and he felt safe and cared for. As a family, we could not have asked for more in the way that we were also treated. The nursing, care and management teams went above and beyond in all areas. I cannot thank them enough.
02 December 2024
If you need nursing care stay away from this home.
Lots of management changes over the last five years tells a poor story. We had issues with bank nurses. We had multiple events of incorrect meds. We had multiple issues of late delivery of time critical meds leading to multiple visits to hospital
who raised safeguarding issues.
In the end the home said my daughter was too complex (read trouble) so was not allowed to stay.
