View Full Details of Redesdale Court Care HomeLooks are deceiving - this place has the look of a swish hotel - but it's the care that is important. The care staff are overworked, and insufficient in number. The manager is always "busy". There are NO activities, if you are lucky there might be a singer - but only for downstairs. My mother was on Priory - zero activities, despite what they promise and she was bored to tears. If your aged relative likes word search puzzles, using crayons, great! they'll love it ! Mine was registered blind with advanced alzeimers. What she wanted was a sing-a-long, but that only happened twice in 7 months. The activities co-ordinator kept herself busy with things like a 'memorial garden' - which of the residents would benefit from this ? (the dead ones are gone, those alive didn't know the dead ones.....). I have been trying to write this review for 9 months to no avail, due to the 'rules'. Please read between the lines and don't get involved with this care home. Contact the CQC direct
The home is amazing with brilliant caring staff are always so respectful and go the extra mile. We as a family have an excellent relationship with the staff who look after my dad so well. He has a lovely room and has settled so well with the great care.
My mum moved into Redesdale Court around 7 months ago and I wish we had one it sooner. She settled in straight away thanks to the wonderful staff, who have provided exceptional kindness, support and reassurance. My mum has Alzheimers and often feels confused but since living here she feels safe and comforted. Her care needs are met brilliantly - we've had no problems or issues, she is treated with dignity and respect and overall the care she receives provides me with so much peace of mind.
Over the last few months I have noticed a positive change both with staff and residents behaviours. Staff are more interactive with residents. There appears to be more of a professional approach at mangement level when need arises.
My mom's in Priory and seems settled and happy. One of the staff takes her into the garden and she loves that. She's quite active and would enjoy more entertainment on an afternoon, as this would keep her busy. The staff are all very lovely and accommodating.
This has been my mother's home for many years. Currently, the organisation and care is as good as it has been even during hard times. The majority of the staff are diligent and hard working, with my mother's care a priority. Only slight criticism being the food choices are not ideal for her disabilities. Overall. The home is safe and I feel my mother is well cared for.
My mum and my brother and sister were all concerned about him moving into Redesdale Court but the team here made him feel really welcome. My dad has settled into the home really well and especially enjoyed the excellent food. Thank you for all the care and attention.
I could not have wished for a better care home for my Mum when it became impossible for her to continue living independently. The staff are lovely and do their utmost to make the residents feel happy and 'at home'. The residents are encouraged to participate in the wide variety of activities offered. I am happy knowing my Mum is safe and well cared for.
Mum is happy here and settled, it is her home. Mum feels safe and well cared for, We the family can see that Mum is very well cared for, a massive thank you to two members of staff in particular and the entire team for doing such a wonderful job. Awesome home! Kind regards.
The staff tend to my mother's needs very well. The room is kept very clean and the linen is changed regularly. However, sometimes I do find dropped medication on the floor which is worrying. She does appreciate the entertainment which makes her day.
Great staff, caring and warm. Lovely clean environment with modern furnishings. Well-managed, supportive team with families.
Excellent carers, a friendly atmosphere. Well cared for. Nothing is too much trouble. The admin is brilliant, she is always helpful. The manager is always approachable and they are both friendly.
Redesdale Court was Mam's home for 3 and a half years and my family and I will forever be grateful for this wonderful care she received. Her end-of-life care was compassionate and truly caring. The whole team are amazing people. We could not have picked a better place for our mam to call home.
Redesdale Court was my beloved mothers's home from August 2020 until February 2024, and my family and I never had reason to doubt our choice of home for her. The standard of care was exemplary from day one. They are a true team of carers - management, carers, catering, housekeeping, everyone, they are all kind, caring and empathetic people. They were always open and honest with us, and we would recommend Redesdale Court without hesitation.
The staff are friendly and welcoming, does feel like I am visiting Mam in her own home. Her room is lovely and clean. Mam has settled very well. They always make sure that Mam is well cared for. If allowed I would like to say the two staff members in particular made you feel so welcome when visiting. Very pleased we put Mam in this care home. They listen if you have any little queries.
Staff so friendly and helpful. Nanna seems to be comfortable and well looked after.
My sister is very happy and well looked after. I am very happy with her care.
My mother-in-law came into Redesdale Court after a short stay in hospital after several falls at home. After a short period of unsettled behaviour, she has changed completely and after lots of care and attention from all the staff, she has settled in really well. She enjoys all the meals and is just starting to mix. The encouragement from staff is amazing.
I was delighted to get my mum into Redesdale Court for supportive care. Unfortunately Mum died after only 8 weeks. I cannot praise the home enough for their care and support during that time. All of the staff were extremely kind and caring. The home itself was tastefully decorated, very pleasant and kept spotlessly clean.
Redesdale Court staff are generally very good although the turnover and need for agency staff sometimes compromise this (eg. no activity coordinator for months). Although when you visit sometimes there are big groups of staff smoking outside and limited staff on the section. Food always looks good and the facilities tidy and well tended to. My mam was always clean and well-presented and was treated with respect. Management on the other hand seem to struggle with roughly 50% of relative meetings cancelled over the last year and communication with families spasmodic. COVID communications were awful with families turning up for visits and being turned away as COVID communications were generally tardy. Another example of this was I brought up an issue of clothes tags falling off resulting in clothes going missing, I bought this up 3 or 4 times but to no avail and with no response. I feel this care home is good but in my opinion not outstanding as the rating would suggest.
