Mum lived out the last three years of her life in this small friendly home at a time when she was very vulnerable. The staff have been consistent and thoughtful - they know residents well and work to develop a sense of belonging. The small number of staff work well as a team. The manager is present
and friendly. I visited regularly and was always made welcome. Staff kept me informed and worked with me when mum needed more or changing care. Care and support at the end of mum's life was above and beyond.
I did not give 5 stars below for facilities or rooms as Hill Grove is not purpose built - it's a sensitivity extended historic building. I have seen care homes with wide corridors, wet rooms and special rooms for craft and hairdressing and Hill Grove is not like that. It is a home from home - I felt that was a gentle adjustment for mum and was happy with that, and so was she.
