View Full Details of Pitlochry Care HomeMy husband was admitted into the secure dementia unit of the home on 21st March 2025 and lived there for three months until his death on 20th June. His dementia was severe and he was unable to take part in any of the activities provided. He was always treated with kindness and consideration. The assistant manager of the home is absolutely outstanding in her kindness and personal care, she is one in a million. She helped to make my distress over his condition bearable.
The care my mother has recieved has been fantastic. All the staff are very friendly and attentive and are great at keeping the family up to date with what the residents are up to each day. It's lovely to see my mum getting involved in all the different activities.
Pitlochry is a first class facility. The staff are caring, friendly and diligent. The ambience is calm and airy with a very relaxed feel. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The social and dining areas are also very relaxed and welcoming. My brother was very relaxed, comfortable and well looked after in his final weeks.
My mother passed away on the 26th March and the care she received from the deputy manager and registered nurse during her stay was second to none. They really knew and cared for her and myself. I was with her when she passed and the professionalism and sheer kindness show by the registered nurse was beyond her role. She knew my mum well and even laid her watch and handbag out as she knew she was never seen without them. You are so lucky to have them both as part of your team and because of them both our journey was so much easier.
Very good care. Staff always happy to help. 5 stars.
My wife was a patient at PCH for 2 1/2 years. The staff were wonderful and my wife was treated with respect and compassion at all times. I was a regular visitor at the home and never once has occasion to worry or complain.
My dad has been here for almost 2 months. The care and attention he has had so far is second to none. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is any bother to them. Definitely a home I would strongly recommend.
The staff are always helpful, treat residents with respect and dignity. The food always looks delicious with varied choice. The room are clean bright and airy. After losing her husband of 56 years she received so much care and support from the staff that she has coped remarkably well and has a renewed zest for life.
A fantastic care home with brilliant staff/care team. The care and support gives my mum back her dignity. Mum is in a long care orientated environment. All the staff from management, nurses, carers, catering staff etc give their all to the residents not just mum. I cannot praise the home and staff for the time, effort and care given to my mum and for giving us the chance to focus on family in her latter years. One of the best care homes. The team are a credit to the BCG group!
Wonderful Care Home whose team went above and beyond for our mum during her recent respite stay. Our mum is not the most patient of people but the team handled the challenges she provided with nothing but kindness and compassion at every turn. The entire team are a credit to the company.
Dad's first 4 weeks have been amazing he has been made so welcome and well looked after. He has settled and seems happy which makes it easier for us the family.
I am very happy with the care my parents are receiving. They are very quick to pick up and deal with any healthcare issues that arise. I found all the staff exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Having my parents here means I can be a daughter again and not their carer.
The home seems more relaxed and happier, with staff having more time for the residents. The new management is very pleasant and easy to talk to. There is more entertainment for the residents, and there’s always more to do. My son has had a stroke and is happy in Balhousie, but he could use help with his speech, as he gets frustrated because he's not walking - his legs are not good. A big difference, and it's for the better.
I and my family found Balhousie at Pitlochry to be a very special place. My mother received such wonderful care there during the last few weeks of her life. She was treated with dignity and respect and every effort was made by all the staff to encourage Mum to live life to the full in spite of her physical limitations. Mum was so impressed with her room, it was far superior to the one she had had in a previous care home. Each health issue that cropped up was quickly and efficiently dealt with. We are so very thankful to each member of staff who not only cared for my mum but for us during the last week of her life. We will never forget it.
The staff are very helpful, good range of activities provided for residents. Some communication issues, which now appear to be resolved. Key worker's role not yet clarified which hopefully aids a more knowledgeable person-centred approach. Regular laundry service is appreciated but items can be slow to return (eg 2 weeks plus) Good standard of cleanliness and fixtures and fittings. Mum feels well supported, safe and treated with consideration.
My mum moved into this home in May 2024 and as a family, we have been very happy with the care she has received. The staff are caring and attentive. Communication is excellent and staff are quick to inform me if there are any issues/falls etc. to report. They are also very approachable when I visit, should I need to discuss anything with them. We are very grateful for the care Mum is receiving.
As well as 'wife of resident', I spent 2 weeks in Pitlochry for respite. Seeing it from the other side was an extremely pleasant experience. Food, cleanliness, supervision were all exemplary.
My Father was admitted on 20/07/2023 and my brother and I met the management and staff on the 21st. They were genuinely interested in knowing my Father and helping him settle. They remained in regular contact with us as his health declined. I spent most of the last 3 days at his side. During this time, the staff were kind and compassionate to him and me. He passed peacefully and with dignity thanks to their care and concern. They gave me exceptional support throughout, for which I am forever grateful.
I had to move my 78-year-old dad from a terrible care home in September 2021. The manager and all the care staff helped the transition at the end of Covid time when everything was still up in the air, which made it very heartwarming. My dad has dementia and doesn’t remember all the time. Not only did I get to have window visits, but through time, all the bruising and bad temper tantrums from his previous care home are now zero. My dad is clean and has regular hair cuts and regular shaves. His clothes are clean, and so is his room. Every single member of staff that I have to deal with is just welcoming and caring like family. My visits are so nice; I can chat with Dad and have a cuppa too. Having a residential doctor on hand is also a huge bonus. As my dad approaches his 80th birthday, a time when his memory is getting worse every day, I have total confidence in all the staff that look after him. Thank you, Balhouse Pitlochry.
It was my mum's 91st birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make it a lovely day for Mum, and I thought they should be recognised for this.
