Dad has been in Balhousie Pitlochry since Dec 2025. After an initial period, which was quite unsettled, Dad has settled very well into his new home. Personally I only have absolute praise for all the staff that are here at Balhousie Pitlochry. Everyone is very welcoming and good with Dad. The staff keep me full informed of what has been happening with Dad's day and if anything has happened that I need to know about. Dad is well looked after and I am completely happy with all aspects of Dad's care.

My Dad has been in the home for 15 months now and I'm very happy with the staff and care he receives there.
I can't speak highly enough about the staff who are caring, attentive and very competent. They all know my dad and his particular needs and are very kind & patient with him.
Manager Andrew, Svetlana and Shona are always available if we have any questions.
It's a small unit with nice rooms and very clean, the garden is nice in summer. It's calm and quiet and there are activities for residents who are able.
We'd had live-in carers and tried another care home before this one and Pitlochry Care Home has been great both for my dad who seems settled and happy and for us as we can visit him when we want and know that he's looked after when we're not there.

I visit every week and am always warmly welcomed by staff, I'm impressed with how well they do their jobs. Highly recommend.

My dad has been a resident in Balhousie for 2 years now. He went in with my mum and recently my mum passed away. I would honestly say the staff went above and beyond in their caring for us as a family, but especially for my dad. My dad was struggling with the loss and the staff were able to help him through his grief. I am very grateful to all the staff in supporting my dad. My dad is smiling again. Thank you.

Our dad has been in Pitlochry care home since the end of April and we are so pleased that he has settled so quickly. He is happy with his room and feels comfortable in his environment. The staff are very attentive and nothing seems too much trouble. The staff have also been so kind to us as a family and if there are any issues they try to sort things out without any fuss. We now have peace of mind that Dad is in a caring, safe environment.

A truly brilliant care home in the heart of Pitlochry. My mother has been a permanent resident in BCG Pitlochry since January 2025. My mother has dementia and other health issues which made me decide, that BCG Pitlochry was the best option for mother's long term care. The level of care my mother receives in the care home, from the wonderful and dedicated staff, is outstanding. The staff go above and beyond for all the residents in their care. It gives me peace of mind, knowing my mother is in safe hands at all times. As a family member too, I can feel how homely and welcoming the staff are during my visits. Always engaging with the residents, family and other visitors puts everyone at ease. The staff are a massive credit to BCG. From management, especially Svetlana, whom is amazing in her role as Deputy Manager, Shona does a great job in her role as administrator, to the fantastic nurses, care assistants, cleaners, kitchen staff etc. Thank you all for taking care of my mother!

Overall Experience

Sadly my husband had poor care in Balhousie, Pitlochry. He was not looked after well on frequent occasions. His medication was not supervised resulting in missed doses. He was on end of life care and was left slumped in a normal lounge chair for 5 hours when he had a chest infection and damage to his skin. The same thing happened two days in a row. He was in tears when l went in. Hot soup was spilled on him. He did not have dementia and was not a difficult patient. His catheter bag was emptied in front of a female visitor. He and his bed were left covered in food when l had asked for him to have assistance with meals. Nobody had cleaned him up even though his plates had been removed. He was not offered his toothbrush. His hair wasn't brushed. He never had a shower. He was left lying in his own excrement. I went to the Care Inspectorate and they have upheld my complaints. My husband died in February. Some of the staff are nice and do the best they can but it was a heartbreaking time.

Dad has been at Pitlochry care home since February. He's settled in really well, a lot better than we'd ever have imagined, which is undoubtedly due to the wonderful staff there. Everyone has been so welcoming to both Dad and myself, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The staff are so friendly, creating an enjoyable and happy, yet calm, environment. Dropping in once a week to see Dad, I'm always welcomed by smiling faces. I can't praise them highly enough.
I'm kept update with Dad's welfare, as well as all the activities he's getting involved in, always keeping my mind at ease.

No one wants to think of their loved ones in a care home, but often it is the only option. I feel so fortunate that Dad is in Pitlochry, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I live overseas and was anxious about whether my mum was being well cared for in her new environment. I flew home to see for myself and needn't have worried. The staff were warm and caring, and without exception they seemed enthusiastic and happy to be there. Mum settled in very quickly, visits were always welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. All staff members knew Mum and reassured me about how well she had settled in. I can't thank the team enough for the care they give.

I found the staff very helpful and considerate. I thought the food was good. The variety of food was good. I had a lovely room looking out over a woodland. I saw lots of wildlife, which I really enjoyed. I also liked the privacy of my room and own toilet and shower. I thought it was brilliant when I got my hair washed, cut and blow-dried.

My aunt was cared for a Balhousie for 7 years. During that time the key nurse in charge never changed and she provided me with welfare updates regularly. My aunt lived happily here and I cannot fault the level of her care. Her passing came peacefully and with dignity. I have no hesitation in recommending Balhousie Pitlochry to anyone wanting a happy and secure environment for their loved one.
