It was my mum's 91st birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make it a lovely day for Mum, and I thought they should be recognised for this.

My husband was transferred from the local hospital to Pitlochry Care Home a week ago. I wasn't allowed to visit as the 14 day quarantine was on. However, when I pointed out that this rule had been changed on 8th September I was allowed to visit which reassured both me and my husband. Very good care.

The care my mother-in-law received was always of a very high standard, with plenty of staff on call and available for any assistance necessary. She was always treated with dignity and respect and staff took the trouble to get to know her as a person and could chat to her about family when we were unable to visit. There always seemed to be a good range of activities available even if she did not always want to take part, and often we were encouraged to join in when visiting which made us all feel part of an extended family. The meals always looked appetising with a choice of traditional and more adventurous cuisine. The facilities were always well maintained and cleaned to a high standard.

Was great to finally be able to see my Grandad.
The staff were great, reassured me that not only would my grandad be safe, but that I would be safe when visiting.
They were very good in terms of cleanliness and the Covid test ran smoothly.

I wouldn’t hesitate to back again. The member of staff at the reception was lovely really makes visiting the home great and my wee girl loves to see her.

Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home staff went above and beyond in the ways they provided for our relative over the eight years they were resident. They are to be commended for the care at all times and especially over our relative’s final days and for the sensitive and considerate way in which they helped the family visit during this sad time. Our family are extremely grateful to all staff involved.

Mum was well cared for whilst in Balhousie Pitlochry.
The staff were caring and friendly.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
In Mum's last days they made sure she was comfortable and not in any distress.

Can't fault them at all.

I commend the home in the work they have done during this covid pandemic keeping those in their care safe. If there has been a problem I have found they have dealt with it. The home is clean and tidy and there is a caring atmosphere with most of the staff. The only area needing to be addressed is the food. Often the puddings are inedible due to still being frozen, This could easily be addressed. My friend has capacity and this should be acknowledged.

During the two years, my husband has been a resident in Pitlochry they have the most wonderful staff and management to be in charge. The cleanliness is superb, food and laundry the same. Because my husband has been so happy (most of the time with dementia taking over) it has elevated my worry about him and helped during Covid. I know he is being very well cared for.

I have found all the staff helpful and caring. The fees are quite high but the care is first-rate overall. The person I visit came from another care home and seems much more settled in the present one. It has been a strain coping with lockdown restrictions but the home has been very informative and the precautions were necessary. All in all, a favourable review!

Residents looked after in a clean, caring environment. The staff have continued to provide 24-hour care in a satisfactory manner throughout a very difficult year. The activities coordinator has been amazing, providing activities throughout lockdown, engaging with family and friends through social media.

Overall Experience
1) The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
2) They display kindness and respect to my parents.
3) They use a variety of activities to keep my parents well occupied, especially Mother, who has dementia but who always enjoyed music. The staff regularly entertain the residents with music shows and singalongs which I can see my mother really enjoys.
4) I can see she enjoys the music and dancing sessions because the activities co-ordinator videos the activities and uploads them for viewing by relatives and friends.
5) My father is particularly complimentary of the food, especially breakfast.

One negative and that is that I think the staff could do a better job of dealing with laundry and making sure that the correct laundry is returned to the correct resident. This may have improved recently but it was an issue 12 months ago.

I can personally say that I was very happy with the care my aunt received at Balhousie Pitlochry. I cannot thank the whole team for all you did for my relative. They always kept us updated when there were changes in our aunt's health. Their assistant manager was always there if we needed to speak and always made us feel a peace of mind when we have worries. I cannot recommend this home highly enough and there care for Dementia patients.

Balhousie House in Pitlochry seems to have its residents' health and emotional well-being as absolute priority.

I felt that my mother's temporary stay was tailor-made for her and helped her to convalesce and regain her independence.

The manager and staff were incredibly intuitive about my mum's needs and very patient in their care.

There was always a member of staff popping their head in for a chat with my mum and as a visitor, who could sometimes only visit at odd times as I live nearly 200 miles away, I was always made to feel very welcome too.

A happy and safe place.
