My dad has been a resident in Balhousie for 2 years now. He went in with my mum and recently my mum passed away. I would honestly say the staff went above and beyond in their caring for us as a family, but especially for my dad. My dad was struggling with the loss and the staff were able to help him
through his grief. I am very grateful to all the staff in supporting my dad. My dad is smiling again. Thank you.

Staff are really good with my mum coping with her challenging conditions and behaviour.
Lots of chat and showing an interest in her.
Information flow is good about events and changes.
When visiting access / egress can be delayed at times when staff are busy. Understand the need for security but a wee
look at this for visitors would be appreciated.
Medical updates are timely and action taken without prompting.
Food choice and helping with selection of dishes could be looked at.

The highlight is the staff they are brilliant.

Reply from David Kerr, Communications Team at Ruthven Towers Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of Ruthven Towers. It's wonderful to know that the team are making a positive difference to your mum through their kindness, engagement, and genuine interest in her wellbeing. We understand how important smooth access for visitors is and always aim to strike the right balance between security and convenience. Meal selections are continually reviewed but we will of course pass on your feedback. Our Home Manager has since reached out to discuss directly. Finally, thank you for recognising our staff as the highlight of the home - we couldn't agree more, and it means a great deal. Thanks again.

My brother and I visited 15 nursing homes in the Dundee, Abroath area. My mother broke both of her knees and will not walk again. We needed some place that would look after her 24/7. The manager is first class. Mum moved into Antiquary Care Home mid May and has settled in well due to the care given,
nice room, good food, friendly atmosphere. The care home is spotlessly clean and staff are first class. My brother and I are so happy that our choice of home has lived up to expectations for my 93 year old mother.

Stormont Lodge Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mums been living at Stormont Lodge since April
It really is a "Care" "Home"
management & staff give their best to make residents feel comfortable.
Personal care is individually focused, mum is always clean & tidy.
Mum moved in after hip surgery so staff encouraged daily physio, she can now walk again
using an aid.
Staff work hard at building positive relationships with both residents and their loved ones.
This explains why there is such a nice atmosphere in Stormont,we are always greeted with a welcoming smile from staff.
Any questions or frustrations dad or mum had while settling in were quickly answered which helped alleviate any niggly worries they had.
Father visits 4/5 times a week,he already feels like part of the furniture. He enjoys his cuppa, cake & chats with staff as they ask how HE is doing as well as updating him on mums day.
As a family we feel mum is being properly cared for,her individual needs are being met and she is safe.
Thank you Dawn, Kirsty & the Stormont Lodge Team!

Our dad has been in Pitlochry care home since the end of April and we are so pleased that he has settled so quickly. He is happy with his room and feels comfortable in his environment. A truly brilliant care home in the heart of Pitlochry. My mother has been a permanent resident in BCG Pitlochry since January 2025. My mother has dementia and other health issues which made me decide, that BCG Pitlochry was the best option for mother's long term care. The level of care my mother receives
in the care home, from the wonderful and dedicated staff, is outstanding. The staff go above and beyond for all the residents in their care. It gives me peace of mind, knowing my mother is in safe hands at all times. As a family member too, I can feel how homely and welcoming the staff are during my visits. Always engaging with the residents, family and other visitors puts everyone at ease. The staff are a massive credit to BCG. From management, especially Svetlana, whom is amazing in her role as Deputy Manager, Shona does a great job in her role as administrator, to the fantastic nurses, care assistants, cleaners, kitchen staff etc. Thank you all for taking care of my mother!

Although I knew my husband would have to go into a care home the process of actually doing that is very stressful and can leave you with guilty feelings however once I walked into St Ronans to view the home the staff instantly made me relax and feel like this is "home"
They are so friendly and professional
keeping me up dated with any issues Neil might have I just felt that my life became lighter and calmer knowing Neil was safe and cared for is priceless
The rooms are top quality and to be able to customise it for Neil means everything it is a home from home for him I'm so happy Neil is here
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to other carers

Pitlochry Care Home

from K W (Wife of Resident) published on 1 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
Sadly my husband had poor care in Balhousie, Pitlochry. He was not looked after well on frequent occasions. His medication was not supervised resulting in missed doses. He was on end of life care and was left slumped in a normal lounge chair for 5 hours when he had a chest infection and damage to his
skin. The same thing happened two days in a row. He was in tears when l went in. Hot soup was spilled on him. He did not have dementia and was not a difficult patient. His catheter bag was emptied in front of a female visitor. He and his bed were left covered in food when l had asked for him to have assistance with meals. Nobody had cleaned him up even though his plates had been removed. He was not offered his toothbrush. His hair wasn't brushed. He never had a shower. He was left lying in his own excrement. I went to the Care Inspectorate and they have upheld my complaints. My husband died in February. Some of the staff are nice and do the best they can but it was a heartbreaking time.
Reply from Melanie Brockway, Marketing and Communications Manager at Pitlochry Care HomeThank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry for the loss of your husband and deeply saddened to read of your experience at what must have been a very difficult and emotional time for you.

We were surprised to read your review as during your husband's stay we met several times to listen carefully to your concerns and understand your wishes for his care. Following these discussions, you shared that you felt reassured and satisfied with the care in place and that the matters raised had been addressed. You also advised that you felt well supported, particularly during your husband's palliative care. We are sorry that you now feel your concerns were not dealt with appropriately.

The team also truly valued the kindness and appreciation you shared with them when you last met - it meant a great deal to them. Thank you.

Every visit I made was greeted with a friendly smile and the offer so a cup of tea. All staff could not do enough to look after my father-in-law with great care and attention, to which he and our family were truly grateful in the knowledge of his needs being met. To see the progress to the outside area
for the residents is a joy to behold to which will help in their wellbeing. We also took great joy in participating with the organised events along with the other residents to show our appreciation of the loving care devoted by everyone involved. A great team.

Stormont Lodge Care Home

So pleased with care and attention my dad receives from all the pleasant and attentive staff. I felt dad was safe and I was able to relax knowing the provisions, activities and staff went beyond professionalism in his care, couldn't do enough and contact was there from both the staff and myself. If
we had any queries someone was always at the end of a phone. They made my family very welcome when visiting and we enjoyed participating in any events the put on. Excellent care home and staff.

Stormont Lodge offers a caring service for mum. It is a great comfort to her family that she is safe and well looked after. The home is undergoing many improvements particularly to the garden. New fences and paths have been constructed and a polytunnel has been erected. This will provide great mental
and physical stimulation for the residents and staff. A handyman is to be congratulated for his work on the project and everyone who has contributed. Overall 10 out of 10.

I would happily recommend this care home. My mum has been a resident here for a year now, and it is a great comfort to know she is settled, safe and so well looked after. The staff are consistently caring, attentive, and treat every resident with genuine dignity and respect, which means a great deal
to us as a family.

The management team and carers have also been incredibly supportive of me and my family, always taking time to communicate and reassure us. This level of kindness and openness makes a real difference and gives us peace of mind.

There is also a varied and lively activities programme, with something to suit everyone's interests and abilities. It's lovely to see residents engaged, social and enjoying themselves.

Overall, this is a warm, welcoming environment where residents are truly cared for, and families feel supported.

The care at the home was amazing. The staff were brilliant, always very caring. My husband lived there for 4 years and despite declining health they cared for him extremely well in difficult circumstances. In his final few days they were just brilliant and I cannot thank them enough.

My wife has been resident here for over 8 years and is bedbound. Over this period, she has received great attention and care. She has lot her speech so I have completed this form to the best of my ability. Some of the questions aren't relevant.
