Alastrean Care Home

from Isobel B (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Dad has been resident at Alastrean since March 2021, just after Covid. His first few months were difficult, due to all the Covid restrictions still in place, and a number of different managers in succession, but now I can only say that he is very well looked after, and the staff are quite simply, excellent.
They're always there with a smile, they know dad and his quirks very well, and they are very accommodating. Dad is very comfortable, and participates in activities when he's in the mood. There is plenty of choice, and some residents have been going out, accompanied, to local cafes and picnic airs. A great move forward! When visiting, I always get offered a cup of tea, which is a simple act of kindness, but always most appreciated. It makes it feel more like home. The surroundings at Alastrean are quite beautiful too, and residents are fortunate to be able to go out to the gardens, when the weather is good.

Brookfield

from Irene S (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 14 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother-in-law is very happy and content at Brookfield. The manager and all her team are brilliant, they are very welcoming, friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The family social media page is great as it lets me know what is happening when I'm not visiting and I get a personal regular
update about my mother-in-law's progress which is so much appreciated. There are numerous activities at the home, exercises, singing, crafts, trips out of the home are just a few which my mother-in-law loves. The care home is well kept, has a varied menu with choices, very pleasant to visit and our family are completely content and happy too with all the care my mother-in-law gets at Brookfield, thank you all.

Alastrean Care Home

from Pamela R (Wife of Resident) published on 11 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Alastrean care home provides an excellent service. My husband has been a resident there since April and has been treated with respect and kindness.
I am able to visit him at any time and always feel welcome. I have joined him at meal times and observed that the food is nourishing and well presented
and he enjoys it. Residents are given a choice of meals and shown what the choices are rather than just told which is very helpful.
Alastrean is in a beautiful setting and is very well maintained and managed. Pets are welcome at anytime.
Overall, I am delighted with the home and feel that my husband could not be in a better place.

Coupar Angus Care Home

from Bob W (Cousin of Resident) published on 11 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

We both want to reiterate how our cousin is settled with you all at Coupar Angus. She started to feel, in her own words 'safe'. At the start of her long journey into care firstly at other homes, we realised how anxious she had been feeling living alone and independently for so long prior to her move
into care. Your staff are all so good with her and certainly understand her often unclear demands, but we do see that spark of humour that our cousin can display which reminds us of old and one knows that she has connected with the staff. We are both happy with the care our cousin is receiving. Her diabetes is well controlled and wish our grateful thanks to be conveyed to all staff involved in her care.

Reply from Melanie Brockway, Brand & Communications Manager at Coupar Angus Care Home

Thank you so much for your considered review. To hear your cousin feels safe, less anxious and you see your cousin 'of old'; that you, yourself are happy with their care and how she is settling, means everything to us. We will be certain to pass on your kind words to our hardworking team. Thank you once again.

from Frances G (Wife of Resident) published on 31 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband was admitted into the secure dementia unit of the home on 21st March 2025 and lived there for three months until his death on 20th June. His dementia was severe and he was unable to take part in any of the activities provided. He was always treated with kindness and consideration. The assistant
manager of the home is absolutely outstanding in her kindness and personal care, she is one in a million. She helped to make my distress over his condition bearable.

Monkbarns Care Home

from C C (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I am very happy with the care and support my mother receives in Monkbarns Care Home. The staff work so hard to look after her they always find time to have friendly chats as well. It would be wonderful if the home can provide transport so residents can be taken on day trips as well as the indoor activities.
The staff are always helpful keeping me informed of my mothers needs and are so friendly. My mother keeps telling me how happy she is and loves the staff.

Reply from David Kerr, Communications Team at Monkbarns Care Home

It's lovely that you see the dedication the hardworking team puts into the care of every resident and that your mother is so happy with them and with her home. Nice to see mum happy.
Clement Park care home is clean, tidy, safe and secure. The decor is bright and contemporary in fact some of the furniture is the same as mum had in her flat which she is quite happy about.
The staff are getting to know mum and are attentive to her needs and are always ready
for a chat and a bit of banter with her. The food is decent and plentiful The staff are kind and make me confident that mum is in a caring community that will look after her. I haven't felt so confident about her situation for quite some time.

All feedback plays a valuable role in informing how we move forward, and we take it very seriously, acting swiftly wherever necessary. We're sorry to hear that your experience regarding your father's care hasn't met the expectations we strive to uphold. Dad has been here for over 4 years and I have never had any concerns with the care and treatment he has received from all the staff. Always pleasant to visitors and happy to answer any questions. Could never thank everyone enough for looking after dad.

St Ronans Care Home

Still happy to have my uncle living here. He is content and is well looked after. He is encouraged to maintain as much independence as he can but the carers do a great job! Recently he took unwell and the care/nursing staff acted promptly and efficiently and he was admitted to hospital. Very reassuring
as I am a nurse myself.

St Ronans Care Home

from James O (Husband of Resident) published on 7 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My one complaint would be that staff are sometimes changed and this is not good for residents as staff get to know residents more the longer they are on the same unit.

Reply from David Kerr, Communications Team at St Ronans Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to review St Ronan's. Person-centred care is of paramount importance to us, so matching up residents with regular carers is very much the goal. Of course, staffing can sometimes change according to rotas and new personnel, however the particular team on your wife's unit has been steady for some time. Rest assured, everyone she interacts with takes their duty of care, to get to know her needs, very seriously. The home's manager will discuss this with you further directly at the earliest opportunity. We're pleased to see that the scores are otherwise high. Thanks again for your feedback.

Monkbarns Care Home

from Maureen L (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 July 2025

Mum was well looked after and treated like part of a very large family, which I got a lot of reassurance from. The care, love and attention from most staff was a great comfort to myself as I had cared for my mum for 14 years and it was a tough decision for me, but I could not have gotten a better place
anywhere than Monkbarns. Thanks to them all.

Antiquary Care Home

from Moira B (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

The very first day my dad moved into antiquary there was problems, from not getting dressed properly to not getting personal care .when questioned there response was he refused.one point his eyes was that crusty he couldn't even open then ,I complained to the manager ,who then replied saying. Sorry
the staff missed your dad's eyes .in my opinion that's neglect! Numerous times went to visit he was left to feed himself .there was more food on himself and the floor ,it was hard to see how much he actually did eat .and he was left to sit on dirty food soiled clothes .he was in there 8 weeks ,since then he has moved into another home .which he gets shower's and shaved every day ,no problem atall .my dad has dementia and a high up member of staff said he reminds me of her 5 month old grandson isnt wot I want to hear .not very professional. I have since sent an email to the manager who i am still waiting to hear back from to see if any action was taken .which again not very professional.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Your feedback is very important to us. We were aware of the issues you have outlined and tackled them quickly at the time they were brought to attention, as we take all information received from residents and their loved ones seriously. We understand, the issues you have raised were addressed both over email and in a face to face meeting. Although an initial preassessment of your father was carried out by the manager, we were initially unaware of his increased needs upon being admitted to the home. As a result, the team would have to nurse him in the dementia unit during the day, then he would sleep in the nursing unit by night. The team did all they could to accommodate, but we are saddened to hear we didn't meet your expectations.

Pitlochry is a first class facility. The staff are caring, friendly and diligent. The ambience is calm and airy with a very relaxed feel. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The social and dining areas are also very relaxed and welcoming. My brother was very relaxed, comfortable and well looked
after in his final weeks.
