My mother has Alzheimer's and has been a resident in the Shrubbery since August 2024, when it became unsafe for her to live alone. I have nothing but praise for the caring staff and management team. She was made to feel welcome from the very beginning and is always encouraged to join in whatever
activities are taking place. The care team also prioritise her daily personal needs and the cleanliness in the home is exceptional. The meals, cooked on the premises not brought in by caterers, are nutritious and presented well, with compliments to the cook for the extra mile she goes on special occasions such as residents' birthdays... I am very happy that I chose this care home for my mother. All in all, there is a real homely atmosphere in the Shrubbery, that is hard to find in care homes these days.

Mum has been in The Shrubbery for 4 years and has always received excellent care. The CQC report recently published may mean that people think twice about trusting the care of their loved one to the home but the majority of negative comments referred to the procedures and paperwork and not to the
actual care provided. Mum has deteriorated over the years and now is mainly confined to bed which causes more work for the staff but they are always there to help her with a friendly comment treating her respectfully and with dignity. They are also helpful with my dad who visits her every day and is prepared to go the extra mile to ensure he is also ok, keeping him informed of mum's care and generally making him feel welcome. Obviously, I would like the home to meet the required standards but I am happy that my mum is the priority and her personal needs are met on a daily basis.

I have been involved with 2 relatives who are or have been, residents here for a period of time.
I can only say that during this time the care received and the care given has been immaculate. Kindness, consideration, respect and empathy from all members of the care team involved in this
establishment. That goes from the handyman right up to the management and owners. Every person we have had the pleasure to meet has been truly caring. Every member of staff has been respectful at all times.
The care home itself has been clean, tidy, organised and welcoming. The caring people who enable this care home to function go above and beyond whatever their job title says of them. Nothing is too much trouble, anything can be achieved, they apply a holistic approach through their application of care, "we are all here to care and that is what we will do".
It is wonderful to have met so many caring people working together, to provide and deliver what they advertise. Long may it continue.
