My Mother has been in the home for 3 years and we waited 2 years to get a place. Such was the outstanding reputation of the home. The care staff are outstanding but since Amaya took over in January 2025, the standards have dropped significantly leading many family.members to contact CSIW in
despair and worry about safety, lack of staff and poor standards in the home . We have a monthly meeting with the manager but the home has sacked so many staff since they took over , there is no continuity and nothing but empty promises . I couldn't even tell you who the manager and deputy manager are at present as there have been so many since January.
There will always be change when a new company takes over but Amaya ae run by accountants who have no interest in care , only prodit. Wards are run with minimum staff ans staff are at breaking point and too scared to speak out with no dedicated nurses on wards. Please, please do not put your relatuve in this home

After initial concerns ( a negiative inspection), and attending our first residents meeting, we have every confidence in the home. This includes the management and staff.
During the meeting the management outlined changes that had been implemented and others to be implemented/actioned.
We have
every confidence in the home and the care that our 'loved' one is receiving.

My grandfather came here almost three years ago where he had the best care. A change of hands this year was the end of capel grange.
We have had problems for quite some time where just recently my grandfather was left in bed unable to breathe for a long period of time. When my father arrived the
nurse on duty made a 'non urgent call' to a GP who told my father they could be up to 3 hours. I attended the home within 1 hour, called for a ambulance where I had to perform CPR on my grandfather. He had a collapsed lung, heart and kidney failure.
I fear anyone sent to this home would be a lamb to the slaughter. My fear now is for the other residents. These Residents I have known for 3 years and have watched their deterioration over the last 12 months with the heaviest of hearts. My grandfather is safe now we have left and in the best hands.

Following the take over, despite the unavoidable turn over of staff, I have found the new management team to be very professional and capable. yes, there have been some teething problems and shortage of staff, but my experience has been a quick resolution to any concerns raised. Standards are now
higher, and staff more experienced. I feel very relaxed and happy that mum is in good hands and will be looked after. Carry on the great work!!

My mum has always been very well cared for here but unfortunately since Amya have taken over it has declined terribly. My mums room is not being cleaned properly and the general cleanliness of the home has gone downhill. staff are amazing and do there very best but they are overworked by management
with no cover if staff are off sick. We as a family have noticed this since the takeover and are very concerned. The staff work so hard and give there upmost but they all look tired and drained. management need to look at these reviews since the changeover and seek immediate improvement. Seems to us that they now care more about making money than residents wellbeing.

When looking for a nursing home for my grandmother I chose this one due to the amount of activities they had, the cleanliness, and overall welcoming compared to others I had viewed. It's changed hands recently and I expected a bumpy ride but hands down it's been brilliant. The care has remained top
notch, so has the activities. If I ever have a query or issue it's addressed instantly and rectified. It took a lot of faith for me to trust anyone with my loved one but now I don't worry, I know she's in safe hands and with amazing caring people. So much that my 5 year old nephew always asks to go to visit over going on a day trip as he loves it there so much. Hopefully this home is around when I need care

I am very satisfied with the care for my husband , ( he's never cooked anything at home,) plenty of activities if he wants to take part.He enjoys the trips, the boat on the Medway and is looking forward to the Big Cat experience.

I'm very saddened of the Negative changes that have been made since Amaya have taken over from.
It was a real family feel about the home when mum went in around 16 months ago , we were happy leaving her when we had to leave knowing she was being well looked after .
It is now a contrast of those
days, staff are leaving across every board of titles - carers , clerical, chefs , cleaners . The staff that are left there are doing the utmost best , but can only do what they can when being so short staffed. I'd also like to thank the staff that haven't walked out a big thank you for going above and beyond in your role .

We as a family are very worried regarding our mother's care. This is now a business and it is evident that making a large profit from vulnerable adults is the way they will be functioning. It is very sad situation for the residents.
29 April 2025
Very worrying! Since Capel Grange has been taken over there has been a very noticeable decline. The number of staff that have left is very concerning, this is across the board from clerical, carers and nursing. One nurse is now expected to cover two units and three carers to one unit. The staff
morale is rock bottom but still trying their very best to give our loved ones the love and care they deserve. I like to thank all the carers and nurses for all their hard work

My mum is well cared for & the staff are amazing, however since Amaya have taken over the home seems to be on the decline.
Most days they are under staffed & the staff that are there are over run, scared to speak and look generally run down.
There has been 1 nurse covering 2 units which is
unacceptable, not only for the residents but the nurses too. They are running staff into the ground in my opinion and when they are off sick they get no one to cover them. Leaving units under staffed. Myself, and many relatives of the residents are getting very concerned.
25 February 2025
The staff are very kind and helpful. My mothers room and bathroom are kept very clean. The hallways and general rooms are clean and tidy. The facilities such as hairdresser and activities are good. The food is good and there seems to be some choice. The decor is a little dated on Kestrel wing which
can make the hallways dark. I think a coffee machine in the conservatory would be a lovely addition as most people enjoy a barista type coffee as they cannot go out much. Residents could buy own pods. I think the cleaning staff and careworkers do a fantastic job and have made my mother feel at home. We have had some issues regarding laundry which has meant spending more money on clothes which have disappeared and boiling all items is not necessary. Overall a very good care home.

Myself and my daughter were looking for a nursing home that could facilitate my brother who has Parkinson's and Lewy body dementia and also needed nursing care for other complaints. From the moment we rang and spoke to the receptionist about the procedure and waiting time scale, we were invited down
straight away, she is such an amazing person who made us feel at ease as soon as we met her! We were shown all around Capel Grange and we were absolutely blown away by the facility and what they do, everyone wants the best care for loved ones, so they arranged an assessment for my brother who was in the hospital, and before we knew it we were doing up a room with all his familiar bits, they put pictures up and made us feel so welcome, the receptionist introduced us to all the members of staff. My brother was transferred from the hospital into a home-from-home, I cannot praise the receptionist and all the staff enough it is unbelievable how kind, considerate, and caring they all are.

Capel Grange is an airy and spacious environment with a lovely outside garden space.
The fact that I believe every room is en suite is a bonus.
Both the care team and nursing team are exceptional.
I feel Mum is looked after well 24/7.

Amazing care home and staff, spotlessly clean and the entertainment is brilliant, all residents are very well looked after, couldn't be happier with the service also food is lovely and a lot of choice. Over the last 12 months, my mum has been there they have kept me up to date with everything which
I am so grateful, I would definitely recommend this care home.

Capel Grange is fantastic Home. The care that my mother receives is out of this world. All staff are very hard-working and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The staff at the home are amazing, and always greet you by name, which is lovely and welcoming. The staff encourage residents
to be involved in many activities that the home arranges. All the staff make this home a wonderful, safe place for my mam to live.
14 September 2023
The care that the staff give is second to none. The residents are encouraged to join activities which regularly include family members. There is a genuinely warm atmosphere at Capel Grange and staff members go about their business with happy faces. I'm happy my mum is somewhere she is safe and
looked after with respect and dignity.
