View Full Details of Newstone HouseMy mother-in-law had a short stay (2 1/2 weeks). We were very happy with the care and all the support staff who help to make this home excellent. It is very homely but has 5 star hotel services including the laundry services and excellent food. There are some very good activities for the residents. We were looked after too. We live 300 miles away, but felt very reassured about the care, including some nursing tasks (dressings) were all carried out to a high standard.
Our experience of Newstone House has always been excellent. My mother is extremely well looked after in every aspect of her life.
What an excellent care home! We needed an emergency respite service for Mum after her fall and two days in A&E/hospital. The staff team pulled out all the stops to get Mum assessed, organised and installed all within a few hours. The focus of attention was Mum and meeting all her needs. The team also ensured we were well looked after. The home has been outstanding!
Newstone House has been a fantastic haven for my mother. She has blossomed in her time here. The staff are all wonderful and caring. The food is excellent and the entertainment is varying.
The home is immaculate with a very comfortable hotel-style reception area - leading out to spacious and extremely clean rooms. There is a varied menu - the food is first class and beautifully presented. We have found every staff member, regardless of position, to be kind, courteous, friendly and always extremely helpful. Any minor problems have been immediately rectified. A Parkinson's patient requires a regular to live to, which is applied here - keeping my husband happy and stress free.
My mother has now been a permanent resident in Newstone House for four and a half years, having previously spent many respite breaks there which enabled her to get to know the home and vice-versa. She has recently moved upstairs to the home's dedicated dementia care floor where there are plenty of activities to keep the residents stimulated with, for example, minibus trips out and visiting musicians, which my mother especially likes. The staff will always go the extra mile - in my mother's case it was taking her swimming. Whenever I visit I always feel welcome and should I have any concerns they can be raised and addressed there and then. My mother is happy there and I know that she is safe and being looked after which is a weight off my mind as I get no younger.
My mother has been at Newstone House for over 2 and a half years and has been very happy there. The care has been consistently outstanding. There are always things to do. My whole extended family is very impressed by the team of staff at all levels there on and the meals look delicious. :)
Newstone is a lovely place to be able to come to. My mum was here and they were great and looked after us has a family with great care.
Staff are always very helpful + friendly. Everywhere is very clean when you walk around the home. Food is excellent. And various activities for the residence to participate in. Always feel my mother in law is being excenly care for.
My wife having been in Newstone for a year now and all the staff extremely helpful and a well organised home with plenty of activities to keep residents active.
My mum was only at Newstone House for four months but in that time the care she received there was absolutely outstanding. All the staff were so kind and caring, treating mum with great dignity especially in her final days as well as taking great care of us, her family, too. I cannot express in words how grateful I am to all who looked after her during her time there. This is a very special place and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for the right place for their loved one.
I can't praise too highly for the warm, professional and friendly care given to my wife and also to me. I am 100% confident that my wife is in the right place without exception every member of staff is A1! I am delighted by the sensitivity/safety measures of the home.
My Mum was cared for at Newstone for 14 months. She was in late stages of Alzheimer's, with barely any mobility so she required a lot of nursing care and Newstone staff were simply incredible. Mum was so well cared for , the personal care and social care were excellent , food was of a high standard and nothing was too much trouble I visited several times most weeks so feel I had a fair insight into the running of the Home. I would be very confident to recommend Newstone to any family trying to select a Care Home for their elderly relative.
I was very pleased to be able to spend four weeks in Newstone House recovering from a total hip replacement. The staff were very friendly, helpful and caring. The food was delicious and the residents were very friendly. I enjoyed the daily programme of events and the outings looked interesting but I wasn't able to partake in them. I had some friends round for afternoon tea and we were catered for admirably.
Excellent care and good attention to needs. Sometimes in the busy mornings and evenings staff are very busy and need more help, but they are all very kind and look after me well. There is a wide variety of enjoyable activities to choose from every day. I enjoy the singing, quizzes, artwork, and a mix of nice characters to talk to. There are regular outings, in the minibus, which makes a nice change.
I can't speak highly enough of the care and kindness being shown to Mum, it has taken a great weight off my mind and allowed me the chance to recover and rest myself after a worrying few weeks with her.
I can't fault any staff or the service given in the care of my husband.
I came to Newstone House originally for respite to recover from a fall. I was immediately made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for anyone. My family and I soon realised that I would need the help so I decided to stay. This is a decision I have never regretted. The help is always there, given with a smile. There are plenty of activities planned for us if we wish to take part. They keep us on our toes, both mentally and physically. We are very well fed with a good choice of options. My visitors, both family and friends, always comment how welcoming it is and how they are always met with a greeting and a smile.
My dad is a resident and everything is excellent. He is very well looked after and receives better care than if he was in hospital. The staff are lovely and very friendly and engaging, and the activities Dad takes part in are great and very suited to abilities and age group.
It was the first time I had visited my friend since he was admitted to the Care Home needing 24-hour care after becoming very ill with a long-term illness. I was amazed at the change. He looked so much better, less agitated and pain-free in a beautiful room that was sunny and peaceful. Staff I had contact with were friendly and helpful and made me very welcome.
