My wife was in Skylarks from 2023 to 2026.
Skylarks has always showed a positive cheerful engaging attitude from the day when we first visited it to see if the Home would be suitable for my wife.
We had nothing but kindness and empathy from the staff and they enjoyed looking after my wife and me as
well when I visited my wife every day.
Some of the residents could be challenging as would be expected in an environment where they all have dementia but I was amazed how the staff handled issues calmly, sympathetically and cheerfully.
The food was always plentiful and enjoyable and the catering staff were always willing to accept comments about the food, good or bad and make changes.
The non-caring staff such as managers, cleaners, laundry staff and maintenance staff always made time to talk when I needed.
The staff were helpful and gave me the opportunity to be part of the caring for my wife and they showed kindness towards me as my wife's life ended.

My sister was at Skylarks WB she was treated very badly. She had 2 bad chest infections in bed most of the time with bed sores & asleep most of the time. 1 of the staff & her friends had it in for my sister regarding a certain non-resident coming in regularly for meals. We didn't mind it he always
had his meal first & plenty of it. We felt sorry for the residents waiting for their meals. On my sister's birthday 2 of his friends came in demanding cake first before my sister. I thought it was a very cruel thing to do They made her wait till last for her food when it was cold. Also make her wait until last for ice lollies, while some staff were eating theirs. Not taken to the toilet regularly. Also she was taken away from her friends because there was no hoist in that room. Bearing in mind she could not walk or talk. Some of the residents used to stroke her hair, my sister loved it. But what hurts most how heartless the management could be. Not asking how she was, no condolences, nothing.

The home is kind considerate and compassionate and try their hardest to take care of individual and complex dementia and nursing needs. All carers treat everyone with kindness and respect and it feels like an extended family. Visitors are welcome and encouraged. This is not the nearest care home to
where I live and it take 45 minutes to get here but I would not want my mum any where else if she can't be at home thank you to all

Skylarks, West Bridgford, was by far and away the best care home my elderly dad had ever been in. He'd had Parkinson's for 18 years. From the lovely staff, the genuine day to day care - tailored to suit his needs - to the fantastic communication from management and office staff, I cannot praise the
place enough. Would highly recommend for the trusted care of your loved one.

The care and support Dad has received has been wonderful. He was very frail and weak when he was admitted. He has been encouraged to eat and drink and has now put on weight. As a result he is now stronger and looks very well. On a personal note I would like to thank the managers and staff for all
the advice and support they have given to me too. Thank you.

The standard of care at Skylarks is questionable on several levels. There have been 2 outbreaks of scabies, the 1st in Nov/Dec 24. There was a complete failure to understand the condition, affects and how to treat it. The time taken to eliminate scabies was protracted because full details about the
treatment were not known. Consequently, I was unable to have my mother home for Christmas or for her to spend time with her grand, and great grand children. Unsurprisingly, and most disappointingly there has been a second outbreak of scabies 4.5 months later.
Staff do not engage with residents as a result they lose the power of communication. The residents spend most of the day in the same chair falling in and out of sleep until the next meal. Belongings continuously go missing and very little is done to recover them.
Contrary to what Skylarks promote the leading edge "Dementia Care Matters Household" model is not followed. It is not the place to spend your final days.

My wife has been in Skylarks since December 2023, and I have no complaints regarding any aspects of life for her at the home. She seems settled and content, and the staff are excellent and look after her well.

There is a welcoming atmosphere on arrival at Skylarks. Staff are attentive, helpful and caring. They are always on hand to answer your queries. My husband is looked after with with patience, kindness and regard for his interests. He is a countryman. I appreciate carers always place his chair
where he can look out at the garden and watch the birds.

My wife has been at Skylarks just over two years. She has settled reasonably well, although because of her dementia she has good days and bad days. During this time I have found all the staff/carers to be very friendly, helpful and very professional.

My mother was at Skylarks for 5 years, all through the pandemic and afterwards. She received excellent care, all the staff were kind, caring and patient. She could be quite challenging and this was dealt with very well. I have no hesitation in recommending this home for people with advanced
dementia.

A great place for mum to be. The staff look after mum so well and nothing ever seems to be too much. I don't know how we'd be able to cope without all of their support. They keep us really well informed about mum and we really appreciate their care for her.

My husband has been a resident since December 2023. I have nothing but praise for all the staff who work so hard under challenging circumstances. Today we had a lovely Valentine's "fish and chips "lunch for residents and visitors, the room and tables were beautifully decorated with roses, petals,
red hearts, and the tasty food was accompanied by a bottle of alcohol free wine on each table.
My husband had his 90th birthday last month and once again they helped to make it a day to remember.
I visit every other day, am always made welcome and kept up to date with his progress.
The family feel very lucky that we are able to see him being so well cared for at this stage in his life.

My mum moved to Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home after being sectioned twice and two other failed attempts at settling her into a care home.
It was not smooth sailing straight away but that was very much expected with her mixed dementia and other mental health complications. All of the staff and
management at Church Farm have worked really hard and have done all they can to help my mum feel safe and happy. After two months, she is now smiling and she tells me how nice all of the staff are when I visit. She has even been out on a trip to a local farm which she loved.
I am very grateful for the care she is receiving at Church Farm and would recommend the home to anyone needing great care for their loved one. There is warmth along with expertise from all staff and I feel lucky to have found this for my mum.

Mum was admitted to Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home with severe dementia nine years ago and died peacefully a few weeks ago. Throughout her stay, over all this period of time, her care was superb. The staff were so kind and caring as well as professional. They became her family and treated her as
you would want a loved one to be looked after. All of our family were most grateful and clearly impressed. Even at her passing many of the staff came out to wish her well on her journey and pay their respects, with two attending the funeral. A warmth that you could touch and feel that she would have loved.

I cannot recommend the team at Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home highly enough, dementia is a particularly cruel disease and I can honestly say that at times the carers looked after me just as much as my parents.
Their truly caring, forward-thinking approach is second to none, I feel incredibly
lucky that in their time of need, both my parents were looked after by the team at Skylarks.
Thank you the house leader and the team, we are forever in your debt.

My parents had both been residents of Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home for a number of years and it was only in my father's final days that I witnessed the care and love shown to individual residents of the home. From cooking their favourite food to singing or dancing, whatever it takes to ensure
that the resident has happiness in their final years, care is delivered with love and kindness. One member of staff, in particular, went out of her way to keep the family updated and ensured that Dad received the best care delivered with maximum dignity whilst protecting him from pain. The family are in debt to the wonderful carers who do an amazing job.

My mum has been at Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home for many years now and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. They try and put on many different activities for the more able residents and interact with them. I've always found the rooms clean and tidy. The communication with the staff
has been good with regular contact, Facebook posts and emails of updates.

Dad was moved to Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home from another residential home on the 13th of December 2022 and his care and our experience so far have by far exceeded the care he has previously experienced elsewhere.
Staff are reactive and compassionate and communication has been excellent.
It
is a pleasure to visit Dad in this friendly environment and I feel comforted that, although Dad has quite complex needs, he is finally in a place where he is genuinely cared for and where staff work hard to ensure he has the best quality of life possible.
So far, so good!

My mum has been at Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home now for over three years and the care, support and dignity she receives have been excellent. The care team are always on hand to discuss matters with me and, notwithstanding the acuteness of her condition, always ensures she is fully and actively
involved in the community that the home provides.
10 January 2023
Our mum had been living with dementia for years and when her husband passed a year ago she was losing the will to live.
We looked at a number of care homes locally and nearer to her home in the south. After meeting the team at Church Farm at Skylarks Care Home, seeing first-hand how they were
caring for the existing residents we had no hesitation in choosing Skylarks.
It was the best decision we could ever possibly make for Mum and has given us such great peace of mind.
Skylarks is very special, the management/staff are absolutely fantastic. They treat the residents as "family" and we can hand on heart say this is true. Mum stopped remembering us some while back now and, although that gives us sadness, when we visit her we see her so happy with her Skylarks family. She has a life again, new friendships, days out, daily entertainment. We get regular updates and access to private social media so we can keep updated on Mum.
Mum had not smiled for a long time, she is always smiling now when we see her.
