Nissy and her team at Victoria Lodge looked after my Dad as if he was family !
All of the staff were very caring, kind and attentive every time we visited Dad, and we often visited unannounced .
Dad was always treated with respect and dignity.
The outside entertainments team were a big feature
of Victoria Lodge. It was lovely to play cricket with my Dad at one of the exercises sessions, and the Ballroom Dancers were very good at engaging residents. The visiting Singer Dean was very good too and the Carol service he took was memorable.
Our family can't thank the staff at VL enough for making our Dad so comfortable in his final weeks.

My mother went into Victoria Lodge initially for respite which turned into long term care after she could no longer live at home. The home is very homely and very well run. All staff could not do enough for my mum or us as a family when we visited always with tea and often home made biscuits. All
the food is freshly cooked at the home and my mum really enjoyed the meals. On Mothers Day the conservatory was decked with flowers and a lovely afternoon tea was laid on for residents and families. The home has many activities including a singer, dancers and hairdresser weekly. Staff regularly painted my mums nails, took her out for walks and to the shops . Nothing was too much . I would highly recommend this care home .

My mother has been here for almost two years and we cannot fault the care she has received. Every member of staff is kind and caring, they make such an effort to make the residents feel happy, comfortable, and loved. We have seen this for ourselves when visiting her and also at the various events
they have laid on at Xmas, summer, etc. My mother is very settled and very happy.

My mother has been a resident at Victoria Lodge for almost a year. The carers, staff and management go out of their way to not only ensure she is given excellent care but that she is made to feel ‘at home’. The personal touches like stockings for Christmas for the residents, the family-style lunches
that are put on for all sorts of occasions, the fact that the carers know how I like my coffee and remember my name and the various outings and crafting that is done daily with the residents is all ensuring that my mother’s stay at Victoria Lodge is enjoyable.
11 April 2024
My wife has been a resident since last October the care she has received has been outstanding all the staff from manager downwards have had to be patient in trying to get her settled. At last things are getting better and that is due to the caring staff.
My sincere thanks to them all.

The staff are like a little family to my mum and to us. We are always greeted with a smile, tea and cake when we go in to visit Mum. The staff are outstandingly kind and gentle with Mum and always keep us informed immediately of any medical problems. The staff work really together well and seem like
a happy family too. Mum enjoys the activities that one particular member of staff organises and loves the lovely chef's cooking.
My mum has a lot of problems and the managers have helped me navigate the very difficult world of getting the psychiatric service to help get my mum's medication right. Their aim is for Mum to be as settled as she can be with all her anxiety and to be able to be awake and happy and enjoying the activities and people around her. They do not want her to be over-medicated and asleep, which would be a lot easier for them I am sure. They and their fantastic team are great advocates for fostering human dignity and happiness above all things.

My sister has been cared for by Victoria Lodge for approx three years.
I was told she would be treated like a member of a family, and I find that to be absolutely true. She has a delightful room with her own bedroom furniture and a very necessary toilet facility of her own.
She is happy always
smiling. She has put on weight being barely six stone on arrival. It feels homely and informal. Residents enjoy many activities.
Special days and Birthdays are celebrated with a party atmosphere, sometimes with music and a little dancing. A chef-made cake always presented on the Birthday. The conservatory always decorated depending on the occasion.
My sisters health is monitored and I am kept updated with any adjustments necessary.
I have every confidence in the care given at Victoria Lodge I know my sister will have their attention and I will always be kept in the link, with photos, videos email and phone messages.
I have every respect for all at Victoria Lodge.

We were recommended to go to Victoria Lodge from our mum's care team. A very small, homely care home, for EMI. As always there will be 'bedding in' issues, but the standard of communication, support and help I have always received, when communicating has been excellent. The home has regular
enrichment experiences for all the residents. When recently visiting Mum there was a live, old style singer there. He interacted with the residents in a lovely way and they thoroughly enjoyed this, singing along and clapping in time. There is a nice garden to sit outside in the warmer months. I personally like visiting in that outdoor space. There are facilities that you can use, like the hairdresser, podiatrist, optical services etc., that come to the residents too. The manager is very organised and keeps us informed, as do the staff.

Mom is so happy and settled at Victoria Lodge. The staff who look after her are very connected to her and know her likes and dislikes. Each time I visit, I see how relaxed Mom is and that is a testament to the warmth and care of the staff who are just brilliant with her. The manager has helped me
throughout the process of Mom arriving there and now, being settled and happy. She communicates with me and keeps me up to date with anything that needs attending to for Mom on the admin side, and I find that the staff are good at passing messages on so that everyone is up to date with aspects regarding Mom's experience there. I warmly recommend Victoria Lodge to anyone considering a placement there for their loved ones.

My dear mum spent her final 3 months here after being discharged from hospital in Oct. 22. Although never wanted to have to go into residential care, she couldn't have gone to a better home. It was homely, welcoming, and clean with exceptionally caring staff and tasty, nourishing food. Mum was fed
when she needed help, kept clean, comfortable and received whatever was requested for her needs and was treated with respect. Everything was for the safety and care of the residents and I can't thank the team of the hardworking staff enough (from the cleaner, laundry lady, chef/cooks, handyman, carers, and activity lady to the manager). All of them make it such a special home.

Our adored mother was discharged from hospital straight to Victoria Lodge during Covid and we are so pleased that they chose this care home. The staff and management were always friendly and kind to us and their tender and sympathetic care of our mother was excellent and better than we could have
hoped for. They always managed her medical conditions well and referred to the local GP when needed and we could tell that Mum was being well looked after just by her coordinated and fresh appearance and the fact that she was calm and seemed settled. The staff made a lot of effort to entertain the residents especially when Covid put a hold on many of their regular events. It is a terribly sad thing to witness the decline of one's beloved mother, but everyone at Victoria Lodge made this easier for us with their genuine and sympathetic concern and their tender loving care of our mother. We would recommend this home and thank everyone at Victoria Lodge for everything that they did.

My mother was moved into Victoria Lodge in Oct 2021, after a spell in hospital. The care home was organised by a social worker. It was during covid and therefore there have been strict restrictions in place and visiting has been very limited and only for 45 minutes at a time, so I have not yet seen
around the home or met any other residents. It’s very hard to rate on such limited access. I have found all the staff to be very kind and helpful and Mum always looks clean, happy and very well cared for. She is always in her own clothes and is treated with respect, dignity and kindness. The home provides activities for the residents, which was important to me as Mum loves art and crafts and enjoys puzzles and quizzes. Mum has a regular hairdresser and chiropodist visits and the staff are very diligent about calling the surgery for advice, whenever she is unwell. Overall, I am extremely happy with the care provided and all aspects of the home that I’m aware of.

All the staff at Victoria Lodge keep me informed of my godfather's progress. They are friendly and helpful. They genuinely care. My godfather has always said he didn't want to go in a home, but he is so happy at Victoria Lodge.

The most important consideration in choosing a care home is the staff. At Victoria lodge, you have a stable team that work well together, are caring and will always do what is required and beyond for your relatives, alongside management that allows that to happen. Thank you all so much for looking
after Mum and Dad.

Our beloved mother lived at Victoria Lodge for six years and three months (up to her sad death in mid-August 2021), and she really enjoyed the social interaction with other residents and staff and loved the good food and activities. Everyone at Victoria Lodge took great care of her and treated her
with true respect and kindness and as a result, she was usually happy (despite her multiple illnesses, including Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia). Thank you to all the kind, caring and professional staff at Victoria Lodge.

Both my parents were in this home for two years. The staff care for them deeply and they have good entertainment and stimulation. The meals are nourishing and they have plenty of tea and coffee and snacks between meals.

My mother was a resident at Victoria Lodge for four and a half years. She was always treated with dignity and respect. My mother's needs and care were performed to a high level. We found the care workers to be always kind to the residents. Prior to covid, we visited my mother regularly and we were
always welcomed into the home. Obviously, for the safety of the residents, visits had to be curtailed but during the week leading up to my mother's death in June, we were able to spend a lot of time with her. I cannot praise the staff enough for their love and care.
04 August 2021
My mother sadly passed away last month, after spending over 4 years at this lovely Care Home. She was treated with dignity and respect throughout her stay and received excellent care. There was a period of a few months in early 2018, after a short stay in hospital, when my mother lost the ability to
eat. It was only the dedication and encouragement of the manager and the staff that got her through that period. Victoria Lodge provides a secure, homely environment and a number of activities to keep residents stimulated. The staff are wonderful and I visited regularly until the pandemic, when I was always made to feel very welcome. I appreciated the actions taken by the Home to keep Mum safe from Covid and whilst not able to visit her for many months, I was regularly informed of her health and general wellbeing. During the final weeks of Mum's life, the manager and staff were very supportive to the family.

My father was a resident at Victoria Lodge from October 2017 until his death on 2 January 2020. In all that time I have been very pleased with the care he has received. He has been treated with respect and dignity. When he arrived his physical health was very poor but he rapidly improved with the
care, treatment and good food he received. As his mental health deteriorated the staff responded appropriately. In his final days, he was lovingly cared for with great kindness and sensitivity for 24 hours a day. The staff were always very accommodating and welcoming when we visited.
14 February 2020
In May 2013 GPs told us that the time had arrived to find a care home for my mother. It was with much trepidation that we began the worrying process of finding a home for her. We looked at many but the warm welcome we received and the confidence the staff instilled in us made us determined to secure
her a place at Victoria Lodge. Visitors are warmly welcomed at any time proving that the staff are confident that everything is always in order. Residents are encouraged to spend their time in the communal areas where there is a varied activities programme including arts and crafts, visiting musicians and dancers and trips out. There is a high standard of cleanliness and the food, cooked on the premises, is fresh and delicious with a good choice of menus. Birthdays and notable dates throughout the year are celebrated much to the residents delight. Victoria Lodge improved my mum's quality of life, looked after her with kindness and gave me peace of mind knowing that she was safe.
